Why pitch counts dont work... In game pitches only account for approx 50% of all a single game days pitches. If we dont measure stress of all throws daily we cannot determine when an athlete is fatigued. When fatigued athletes are at higher risk of injury... ⬇️⬇️⬇️ 📈

57% of a game days pitches are what we count as “pitch counts”. That doesn’t include LT, plyos or other throw types. These into account pitch counts are < than 50% of throws on game day. Mitigating fatigue/ injury takes tracking every throw. Not < than 50% on game day.

Often times we want to believe the “reason” is us or our program. Reality is that often times it’s not. Promising velo is a dangerous game and one many players fall for. The industry needs to reconsider what it means to put player first. Linear progression doesn’t exist. 📈
