A key takeaway from Toque is that America could not have been organized other than as a Republic, since the settlers always relied on corporate bodies to supply their government, and never knew personal lordship, which didn't even exist in the mother country anymore by that time.

Deeply unserious. This is why I said the right needs to read de Tocqueville and de Maistre. I don't know if this guy is American, but we need to aim for virtue and beauty without pretending to be something we aren't — just like the Steam Age industrialists.

@martianwyrdlord As others have pointed out here, the scientific mindset was long consolidated by the time of Enlightenment, and the industrialists and inventors who drove tech were practical men trying to make money and didn't know or care about any philosophical ground principles.

Libs today (Quillette etal.): "We must return to the Classical Liberals of the Enlightenment, who valued free speech for all!" Actual Enlightenment Liberals:

Haller points out the partisans of enlightenment exercised explicit or de facto censorship in publishing, making it basically impossible to find non- or anti-enlightenment works, despite there being a demand for them.

There's literally nothing you can't blame on Throne or Altar. Wokeness is "hyper-Christianity"- even though it attacks Christianity as its first order of business. Or it's "Statism"- even when it openly vows to bring down all earthly powers, once it has no further use for them.

Libertarians, in theory: "Mises says that mutually-beneficial exchange is the basis of all social solidarity and all human relations". Libertarians, in the real world: "What, politicians use government to do things that benefit supporters? How immoral and corrupt!"

It is amazing watching the cognitive dissonance that libertarians experience when confronted with Schmittian political realities in meaningful ways. You mean politicians can use government to do things that benefit their supporters? *mind blown*

Revisionists should be placed in tanks slowly filling with water, then assured that the tank doesn't really exist, and that "drowning" is an anachronism of 20th c. CPR instruction that doesn't capture all the ways you can die in water, and hence a useless construct.

I love historiography as much as the next person, but the "feudalism" never existed stuff is pedantic. You can literally do this to every "ism" and at that point we cant really communicate history and its change/growth/evolution over time.

Nietzsche suggestively says somewhere that a civilization has reached the terminal stage of decadence when people start arguing it's best to have never existed.

@TheWorthyHouse Citizenship should surely not be subject to revocation based on the date when it was granted- but anybody involved in Leftist activity is an enemy of the Republic and should have his citizenship revoked. I don't care if his ancestors showed up on the Mayflower.
