As usual with the suburbs, this combines most of the worst aspects of urban and rural living:
All of the space of a 1 BD apartment, almost no outdoor area, all the maintenance costs of a single family home, a boring unwalkable neighborhood. What's not to love?
Lmao at all the people who think a random person can just rent an excavator in the middle of a disaster cleanup or that construction companies wouldn't be using theirs. What planet do you live on?
TIL the average hillbilly either owns a construction company or steals equipment from a construction company whenever they need it. Very interesting economy.
Anyone who can't see several stationary gigantic brightly painted pots in the middle of an intersection can't be trusted to see things like children or cyclists and thus shouldn't be driving.
The way you make a street safer is by adding obstacles to slow down cars.
@woodmuffin
There's nothing in that image for scale. This is a 30k gallon tank with people for scale compared to a person standing next to a plane that holds 30k gallons of fuel

Hulu does this all the time to me, especially on older shows. Sometimes it doesn't even give a warning, it just abruptly starts the next episode.
Or instead of spending billions of dollars to desalinate ocean water, we just put the water-intensive industries in the parts of the US that already have plenty of fresh water and room for housing?
Here's how we fix water scarcity in the US SW forever.

Xi played Putin like a fiddle. Big talk to inflate Putin's ego by calling them "partners" as if they're anywhere near equal. Then stand by and watch while Russia isolates themselves from the rest of the world and become economically dependent on China.
The key difference between Paris and American cities is that Paris tends to follow up its plans with actual implementation. American cities would still be doing environmental reviews and public comment periods in 2030.
READ: Paris is set to roll out its ambitious 2024-2030 Climate Plan, with urban biking at the heart of the plan.

will officially prioritize cycling infrastructure, introducing 180km of additional cycling paths & 130k bike parking spaces by 2026.
It's kind of fascinating how no matter what corner of Twitter you go to, it's full of upper-middle class people who think they're average. If half your neighbors own a construction or landscaping company, you probably live in the exurbs, not an average Appalachian town.

The Ohio BMV insists I wear corrective lenses to drive because otherwise I "can't see." This is an assault on my freedom to choose what I put on my face.
Ban this freedom-trampling mandate! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Conservatives spending thousands of dollars on armored doors for their suburban home, while I leave my windows unlocked all the time because if someone wants to scale 60 ft up the side of my building, they deserve to take whatever they want.
@DanPriceSeattle
Right, I can't stand this idea that we should be thankful to the rich for gracing us with jobs, as if they do it out of charity and not because it's the thing that makes them rich.

When it didn't give her the answer she wanted right away, she had to keep pushing, and then eventually just asked it directly. At that point it's no different than Google.
Have you been hit with a $100 bus-camera ticket in D.C. recently? More than 145,000 citations issued over the last 9 months.. totaling nearly $15 million in fines.
Maryland drivers lead the way, then DC, VA, and all over.
Here's what some drivers we spoke with had to say:

It hasn't. We've just spent trillions of taxpayer dollars building and maintaining highways over the last 70 years while we let the rail system decay in the hands of private freight companies.

I hate United's security questions. Yeah, let me try to remember what my favorite vacation type and pizza topping were 5 years ago when I set them.

When I travel to cities that are more walkable, I frequently see groups of kids walking around. Maybe they're going somewhere. But they spend a lot more time together than driving from 4 separate suburban neighborhoods. Ofc in the US that's more a change from the 50s than the 90s
Nothing to convince me more that I'm right than having "Literally Hitler" on the other side of the argument. Wonder why the advertisers left this site?

If they gave them a higher rate than non-married employees because they were married, that seems like it would open them up to a class-action discrimination suit.

They are not free. They cost a lot of energy making it the car change velocity, even when no one is around. And they cause wear and tear on vehicles as well as actual damage.
@YIMBYLAND
No. Because no other state was really even considering it. Once it's done, people will see how nice it is and how much demand there is (like with Brightline).

I'm normally pretty skeptical about Tesla quality. But I truly do not believe the car just rammed the Jeep and started driving away by itself. 95% chance the driver just panicked and pressed the wrong pedal.

What they do is lend it to the museum. Then in a few years, get someone to appraise it at a higher value, donate it then, get a larger tax break, and no tax on the gains.

So are we going to ban driving because someone didn’t pay attention and literally ran the light?
Do you just reform society because a few bad apples?
Let’s address why he ran the light vs penalizing everyone and reforming society.
I’m hungry. Surely I could find something to eat around the $862,000,000 arena that was built with $261,000,000 tax dollars! Right?! We were promised a vibrant, walkable, European style district full of entertainment, dining & shopping. In 2016.

Musk sort of does this. The plane is registered to "Falcon Landing LLC".
Though 10 seconds of Google research tells you that company has the same street address as SpaceX. So he didn't do it very well.

People will go on vacation to Cinque Terre or whatever and talk about how pretty it is and then freak out if people in their own neighborhood dare to paint their house any color other than white or beige.
