I've never known SO many people to be ill with Covid as there are right now ๐
... Yet our reckless government is about to remove mandatory isolation and free testing, while supposedly 'following the data' that they're going to stop recording๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Anyone else as puzzled as me?๐คทโโ๏ธ
Took a car for a test drive this morning at a main dealer.
Him: It's company policy for me to come with you.
My husband: Would you mind wearing a mask please?
Him: I don't have one.
Me: Here you go *hands over FFP2*.
Him: You can take it out on your own, just don't tell anyone!
In the last two days 777 people have died from Covid.
That's MORE than two jumbo jets full of passengers.
How can such a loss of life be minimised by so many people who declare it as 'mild' and completely ignored by the press and media? ๐
Interesting convo today.
One family member's having heart problems and may need a pace maker. They had Covid prior to the problems and now wondering if that's what caused it.
Another family member suffering Long Covid since 2021 has commented "maybe Jo has a point about masks".
Chatting to someone on Fb who's had Covid 9 times!
They say "I can't take any more precautions than I already do"... but they caught their latest on a cruise in July and was out for lunch y'day and "today I feel like I've had the crap beat put of me and my chest is bad again"๐คทโโ๏ธ๐ฅ
Someone in my family has tested positive for Covid-19. They work for
@waitrose
and have been told if they feel okayish by day five they MUST return to work whether they're still positive or not.
Why aren't supermarkets protecting their staff and their customers? ๐คทโโ๏ธ
WOW! A couple have just come into my art gallery with FFP2 masks on (we always reciprocate), commented on our HEPAs and how brilliant it is to visit a business that actually takes ventilation seriously.
First time this has happened - they said it's the way forward and we agree ๐
And so it begins.
First two customers in at our gallery, no masks, asked them politely to help themselves to the free ones but they huffed & puffed & left.
How is it right that we're going to be forced to choose between allowing people in unmasked or seeing our business fold? ๐
The dashboard has a questionnaire at the top today.
I urge everyone to complete it and make it VERY clear that you want proper testing and tracking to remain in place for everyone's safety and the ability to asses our individual risk.
Hi ๐ I live in Norfolk, England and I refuse to accept that Covid infections and reinfections are inevitable. I will continue to do my utmost to break chains of transmission by wearing FFP2/FFP3 masks in public spaces. What about you?

If he was registered with an NHS GP he would've said so straight off. The fact he won't answer shows he uses private healthcare.
I don't care which he uses but if he can't be honest and open about something so simple, then we can't trust him to be honest and open about anything.
๐คฌ Shame on
@waitrose
A close family member works there and has tested positive for Covid.
They've been told they can go into work while they're still positive if they feel well enough (which they don't).
This is never going to end with companies being so irresponsible.
@SkyNews
Perhaps medics should've had parties on the hospital rooftops? And teachers in the school playground? And supermarket workers in the warehouse? And delivery people in their depot?
Would that all have been acceptable? No, of course it wouldn't, and neither was the party at No 10.
Chronic Asthmatics have been removed from
#COVIDVaccine
priority group 6 despite official guidance earlier saying we would be included. We are still Clinically Vulnerable as per NHS guidance. This u-turn needs reversing
#asthmaticsatrisk
My husband and I had zero knowledge of pandemics but we took the decision to 'lock ourselves down' (cancelled a holiday to Venice, cancelled gym/swim membership, closed our business) a few weeks before Government told us to!
We could see what was happening - why couldn't they?!
So, Hancock's first appearance at the Covid Inquiry did not disappoint.
I will share the critical moments below.
But first, it is clear that his entire justification for the admitted calamitous response rests on one point, and it is a fabricated argument...
๐งต
First visitor of the day, pointing at our ๐ท:
"Are they still making you wear those THINGS?"
Us: "We choose to. If we're ill we have to close our business and have no income, so it's a sensible precaution."

Us: ๐ ๐
@chrischirp
@sajidjavid

How? HOW??????!!!!! When you're stopping free (at the point of use testing) and cutting the React, Zoe, Siren and Comix studies, AND closing down SAGE???!!
@stkirsch
Who the hell do you think you are publicly posting photos of children without their or their parents'/guardians' consent? Not to mention that you have no idea what that person might be going through or their reasons for wearing a mask. Shame on you. Reported.
@royalhospital
So you conclude masks work to reduce the spread of respiratory viruses... and then stop wearing them?!
That's like saying seat belts work reduce deaths in car accidents, so let's stop wearing them. Can you not see how utterly ridiculous that is?!
@1goodtern
They say "Pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds were particularly prone to absence"
They've also been saying for the last three years that those from disadvantaged backgrounds have been worst affected by Covid.
But ... they ... can't ... join ... the ... dots ...๐คทโโ๏ธ
@sajidjavid
'Cowering' is such a disrespectful word to use.
You should show some respect to the CV/CEV who are forced to continue shielding, unsupported, because you're happy to let Covid rip through the population. They are not cowering, they are protecting their lives.
Best and oldest friend suggests coming round to ours one evening
Great, we'll have the windows open, HEPAs running and would you mind testing before you come, please?
Half hour later, friend messages back to say a family member suddenly has a "bad cough" so best they don't come๐คทโโ๏ธ
"The ONS has blamed mental health issues in younger people and people suffering back and neck pain, possibly due to home working, for the increase."

rather than asking for DMs, you should issue a statement to say you will not request staff to attend work if they're Covid +ve or unwell with anything infectious.
If you don't do this, or continue to hide behind DMs, you will lose a lot of custom, mine included.
A family friend went to
@NNUH
for some tests last week.
~20 in waiting room, many coughing.
They overheard a Dr ask their colleague "How many have got Covid?"
Answer: "SIX".
NO-ONE was masked except my family friend.

The responses to this thread have been overwhelming & horrific- this is clearly happening a lot. Vulnerable patients dying after catching COVID-19 in hospital. Patients admitted to ward/A&E next to known COVID-19 patients. It's tragic- hospitals should be safe places for everyone
Delightful response from my surgery to my polite request for the nurse to wear a mask at my upcoming appointment.
How hard is it to pop a mask on to protect your vulnerable patients
@nandwics
? Totally the wrong attitude from your reception staff.

The big question is whether they will now apply the same to schools and work places...? ๐ค
My elderly parents had their

NOT ONE nurse or assistant was masked, despite these being the most AT-RISK patients.
Shame on you

#MasksInHealthcare
It sounds like they're realising the reality, and maybe they are in some ways, but then again neither of those family members wears a mask, they've been out and about partying and travelling the world, and I have no doubt they will continue to do so.
I just fell off my chair!

Positive call from my dentist about my appointment in a couple of weeks (I'd emailed info about the new NHS HEPA guidance โฌ๏ธ) and they've changed me to 1st apt of the day, the dentist and dental nurse will be in FFP3s, and they'll have the door and windows open for ventilation.
SAGE, SPI-B, SPI-MO, ADPH, NHS leaders, Inde SAGE, and WHO have all concluded that removing Self Isolation, Free Testing and the ONS survey is a VERY bad idea and that 'Living Safely with Covid' means moving forward slowly and cautiously.

I only go indoors if I absolutely have to. So no theatre, cinema, eating indoors, or meeting with friends inside like I used to pre-pandemic.
I still do plenty outside, though, and love it.
I'm 'living my life', just with a bit of caution.
If you feel reassured right now that you donโt see people wearing masks, think of it like this:
Those of us who know the risks of indoor Covid transmission have just stopped going to anything indoors.
We are too tired of it all 3.5 years in.
Itโs falsely reassuring.

This is sickening to listen to.
Masks are a minor inconvenience but have a MAJOR impact on reducing transmission.
Make schools safer and MORE children will attend.
@dgurdasani1
Terrible idea to single people out like this. I honestly think the deniers and those who simply don't care will make a point of getting close to those wearing the symbol.
Better idea: keep masks indoors, ventilate, HEPA, test, isolate.
Having friends and family over? Help stop COVID-19 hanging around.
In enclosed spaces, COVID-19 hangs in the air like smoke. Open windows for 10 minutes each hour when socialising indoors to clear it away.

Oh, so NOW Covid exists, after months of minimising it and pretending it's *mild* or has disappeared.
You only bring it up when it suits your agenda, but in reality we're in this mess because government hasn't taken it seriously enough.
GP surgery Caroline works at sent a msg to staff: "Due to โฌ๏ธ number of patients & staff w/Covid we need you to mask up at work from tomorrow."

What is it with people today:
"Are you on Covid high alert?!"
No........ self-employed.... this is our business..... remaining cautious to protect ourselves.......
Having a previous variant doesn't make you immune to the next, hence the recent rise in cases & hospitalisations.
This'll keep happening over & over until we reduce transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in the community.

Honest thoughts on this:
They don't want to test because they're living like it's 2019 and so have made up an unchallengable excuse not to come.

Give over! As if retired, possibly elderly, teachers are going to go back into a cesspit of infection to replace teachers who are off BECAUSE of the cesspit of infection!
Make schools safe and there wouldn't be as many staff and students off ill in the first place.
We're putting an end to compulsory mask wearing in care homes in time for Christmas.
I hope this means thousands more people in care will get to see a smile this winter:
"At-risk patients have entirely legitimate concerns that they may endanger their health by visiting their GP or hospital.
"Scottish government must follow the evidence and improve protections from airborne spread in healthcare settings, not reduce them."
