Update to our COVID-19 page. New BTS advice on COPD for Healthcare Professionals an updated version of the guidance for CPAP, BiPAP, HFNO in adults with suspected or proven COVID-19, plus palliative/end of life care.
Oxygen is a treatment for hypoxaemia, not breathlessness. BTS developed a Guideline for oxygen use in healthcare and emergency settings to support healthcare professionals in providing excellent care to their patients.

NIV is a multidisciplinary effort. Our audit found only 52% of organisations had a nursing lead and 34% had a physiotherapy lead for their acute NIV service. We recommend that these proportions reach at least 90% .
