We do the youth of our society (and older folks too) a disservice when we fail to provide age appropriate, comprehensive information on sexual health, gender, relationships, and consent.
Porn is an unqualified substitute teacher in the absence of adequate sex ed.
Disappointed to see you
@chelseahandler
equate porn performers with abusers. There are many good (kind, honest, smart, respectful) people in the adult film industry.
Porn stars (ie mostly women!) enjoy - and benefit - from sex work. Seems like something you should stand for!
There is an entire generation of children who’s first memory of their President is a man who supports child molestors, wife beaters, Russian hacking, and porn stars. It is our responsibility to make that a memory and not a consistency. We all have a moral obligation. Keep going.
Last night a site owner told me that my affiliate link (me — a single performer) brings in more sales than their whole Pornhub channel.
It confirmed my beliefs that:
1) tube sites don’t convert
2) performers are the best positioned to promote our scenes — and make commission!
RUDY GIULIANI’S COMMENTS MISOGYNISTIC? Trump lawyer took a swipe at Stormy Daniels saying her career as an adult-film star undermines her "credibility" in her lawsuit against the president over their alleged affair — the co-hosts weigh in.
PSA (privacy heads up) for any performer/producer requesting that PornHub remove a pirated video (which they have no right hosting in the first place) from their site, they will publish your contact name - so be aware if it's a name you don't want on a porn site.

I'd told myself that I'd get top surgery by the time I turned 40. I held back, scared of going under and worried I'd lose opportunities. But I realized that being "me" is my path, and I don't want to go another year regretting not living that best version of me, in my own skin.
Don’t pirate porn. Don’t steal it from studios or independent performers. Don’t post it if you don’t own it or wasn’t given permission. And if you care about the people who made it, don’t watch content you didn’t buy.

More people are starting OnlyFans and beginning other forms of online sex work. While this has the potential to normalize adult labor, in the meantime, there’s still a LOT of stigma, which can impact family relationships, housing, and other employment- now or later down the road.

A reminder that content creators have been demanding this for well over a decade... many of whom lost their biz no thanks to piracy. Glad to see PH finally acting like an actual, law-abiding porn site, not surprised it was due to pressure from the NYT article. 🙄
Listen to SW!
Seeing responses to the NYT piece that call the performers featured "ugly" because we're different, mock my non-binary gender identity, and throw shame, ie: "'I bet her mother's proud!'" (We're beautiful. My gender is valid. And yes, she is.)

My biggest wish when I created "Coming Out Like a Porn Star" was that the book would be obsolete in five years.
However this October marks its fifth year in publication, and the stigma around sex work -- and in this case adult film specifically -- is as relevant as ever.
“Porn is not the reason rape culture is prevalent; the reason is that we condition men to not respect consent and we condition women to be afraid. When in situations they feel danger, women will use compliance as a means of surviving or trying to mitigate harm.” ~

You know you work in the sex industry when...
Any time a social platform is down or your page fails to load, your knee-jerk reaction is to assume that your account was suspended. (Again.)
If you're a porn consumer who cares about the health of the industry and people behind it, remember that wherever there's free content, there's a paid version. Support your favorite creators by going to the source -- purchasing directly through the performer or studio's website.
State of the social internet: sex workers' accounts are denied and demoted while floods of spammers and scammers pirate our photos and videos.
Search for a popular porn performer and find a dozen fake accounts instead. Even the fake ones now say "This is my back-up account."
It’s my birthday! Today I turned 41!

Very few adult performers can afford to run their own XXX website. I tried years ago, but VISA/Mastercard fees made profit impossible. It would be amazing to have more hosting platforms, most importantly the option to be independent.
🧵 This whole thread!
Been thinking a lot lately how legislation around credit card processing, site registration requirements, other hurdles have kept adult film producers, directors, and performers from marketing themselves independently - and basically fed the porn monopolies and their algorithms.
"If porn is going to turn back the tide against free content, it’s likely to be because consumers see porn performers as people worth supporting — a shift that will radically change the porn industry’s place in society as well."

Please hold your friends and loved ones. Cherish the short time we have together.
Reminding myself that declining interviews, gigs, events, etc... is a GOOD thing, especially in times of stress and escalating burnout.
A "no" is just as important a career move as a "yes"... It's not self-sabotage. It's playing a long-game that favors mental health.

The worst thing about being asked to remove content that depicts *consenting adults sharing pleasure* is when it comes from support staff whose departments are named things like "Safety" or "Trust" or even "Happiness"... Why is love so threatening?

Yes! Engaging in sex work taught me more about respecting boundaries than school, TV, or anywhere else. I’m so grateful for it, but also furious that so many of us miss this important education early on. We need to talk about sex and consent!
