@dianabutlerbass I traveled for work in the 80's. I visited the same places regularly, so I knew hotel staff. One night they said to eat in their break room if I brought in food. So. Baptist men's group there. Wanted to protect me from harassment. Porn rental and propositions soared.

@dianabutlerbass It's crazy. Another young woman who also stayed there often had breakfast with me in the break room. And we were in suits/hose, high-collared shirts, and heels. Certainly not suggestive. It's truly heart-breaking.

@clhubes My daughter's first comment at almost 2 (she was very verbal) was about 3 days after we her little brother and I came home. She looked at me holding him and said 'he's cute. When's he leaving?' They are very close now and were most of the time growing up. It's an adjustment.

During Covid, they were the only internet source (for online classes) for students (all academic levels) in rural areas. NC has a lot of very rural areas with no home access to WiFi. TX, too.

@JonahDispatch I can't fathom! I grew up around hunters who hunted for food- not sport. And what they didn't eat, they gave to those who did and needed food (deer, quail, duck, dove). But I can't (and they didn't) do it for sport. We shot clays and targets for that.

@micahfries I waited tables to pay for college. Young believer then. Worst shift? Sunday after church. Received more tracts than tips. I couldn’t defend it to my secular counterparts. It’s indefensible. If you’re a Christian, it’s ungodly behavior. If you can’t afford to tip, get take out.

@MelissaMoore77 Melissa, cut up fruit and freeze it in ginger ale. Gives added chill without diluting the punch. That was for special church Sundays (red on Pentecost). We did this (Episcopal, Virginia) in mini Bundt pans. For weddings the adults was often frozen in vodka.

@returnofthegoth The laws were written before we had divided roads in most cases. I live in a larger city where people won't pull over for funerals and get mad when you pull over for an emergency vehicle with lights flashing. They break both laws.I miss common courtesy. We are so self-absorbed.

@martensmatt1 I grew up in southern Virginia. Our US history teacher, (1865 to present - @1979 ) covered this in class. He was a young grad from William and Mary. We read speeches from Dr. King, Malcolm X, most of the presidents and other key figures. We did not get through the Vietnam war.

@galswguitars202 @RpsAgainstTrump In areas where people are moving in droves, getting any repair person is hard! The wait can be weeks for non-emergency work in larger cities/suburbs in the SE. We are booming here.

@MeganNesson What's wild to me is that they mostly differ from stirrup pants in the missing band at the feet. Lucille Ball wore those in 'I Love Lucy'. Where was the outrage then or in their mid to late 80's reappearance. 🤷‍♀️
