@BeeBabs
Yep! Why is it so hard to say, “yeah, I’ve been fortunate to have a leg up through my parents?” People aren’t asking you to self-flagellate for having famous parents, just admit you have an advantage.
@chisomizm
@WrittenByHanna
People really call anything that they haven’t heard of pretentious. If you love film, shouldn’t your reaction be “Oh, I haven’t heard of that! Let me check that out!”
@yosoymichael
Agreed. Also, people have different experiences. It’s great Zac enjoyed his time making High School Musical but if Elordi had a bad experience with The Kissing Booth, why should he lie about it?
@punishedcleo
Does he do this for other stuff too? Like does he get mad if a lit student says their favourite book is The Sound and The Fury instead of a comic book?
@kalenuwu
@SmallPutrk
I don’t think he was proven right. The film effectively shows the cost of that kind of obsession and leaves it open ended to see if artistic success is really worth that kind of trauma.
@auraverra
I don’t get attempting to shame random Letterbox accounts. The Godfather is one of my very favourite films but if others don’t like it, that’s totally fine. Leave people alone.
@hosoterratoma
Do people who have a problem with this think Greta Getwig was forced to put this number in the movie? Or think she’s against Ryan performing? I promise you that this one performance doesn’t change the movie’s message.
@GiovanniAikido
@piscesautumn
@etheralfem
That is because of the patriarchy and toxic masculinity. Not misandry. If we didn’t still have so many people believing in rigid gender norms, the rates would decrease.
@bilsvalue
Good Jojo here. Obviously this show is heinous but that was the perfect response to any adult who is toxic and then tries to suppress your response to it.
@offbeatorbit
Yeah, like I didn’t date at all until my early 20s. No real reason at all; it just happened to work out like that. Like really, who cares either way
@pronounlesbian
Just brilliant casting which is why casting directors are so valuable whereas Twitter casting begins and ends with what someone looks like.
@kyndallrene
I think Zendaya looks absolutely gorgeous as always but the lightening doesn’t highlight her. IMO it is beautiful because Zendaya is beautiful but not because of the shot composition.
@puneetsingh
@IHateYourFacee
Agreed. I think it’s evidence of pretty intense selfishness and lack of compassion. I’m not a parent and have no desire to be but I’m always disturbed by this kind of attitude toward children.
@vvhorrorz
Yep and better dialogue. The idea that Nolan is better than Scorsese is beyond ridiculous and I’m a fan of Oppenheimer. Nolan can’t do female characters and doesn’t have nearly the variety on his collection of films that Scorsese has.
@AngelaLovesNY
Agreed. Some people are willfully concentrating on the wrong thing. The issue isn’t that she needs a bidet. The issue is having a boyfriend who refuses to do even the most basic things for you.
@cocainecross
@PageSix
@dustyrodney
Why is there always this tendency to blame gay people for straight male misogyny? What he is spouting is a product of a belief in traditional gender roles.
@wrenneedsrest
Agreed because while Michael Scott did questionable things, it was always abundantly clear that the show wasn’t endorsing what he was doing. (though I guess with some of the poor media literacy these days, some people might not get it even if they show made it obvious)
@kendallhosseini
Agreed. I was moved by it but it wasn’t Succession-y enough to be the best Succesion episode ever. My personal fave is “This Is Not For Tears.”
@michaelcareyyy
So I’m not saying he’s right or wrong but this is an irresponsible take regarding domestic violence. People who have said nothing but positive things about their spouse publicly can still be victims of DV. Again I’m not against Britney but this is not how to treat DV allegations.
@writerbxtch
With the way some people talk about sex scenes, you’d think films today were riddled with them and that’s just not the case. You are more likely to find unnecessary dialogue in films than unnecessary sex scenes.
@commultra
?
The last line of the movie is essentially “This was bad.” While I really liked Oppenheimer, one of my critiques was the lack of subtlety but with these wild misinterpretations I guess I was wrong.
@now_thats_oscar
It’s crazy to me that The Last Jedi gets so much hate while The Force Awakens doesn’t get nearly as much. JJ Abrams has zero original thoughts and gave Rian Johnson nothing to work with.
@ShockaDrewlu
@JuliusGoat
That’s because men aren’t willing to approach women in a way that doesn’t involve sexually harassing them. and then they whine about being considered a creep instead of improving their behavior.
@sakhecore
The scene is good in context. I know why they do this but I wish they didn’t show these scenes by themselves. The scenes need the build of the narrative to have the impact that it’s meant to.
@MediumSizeMeech
Yep, it’s infuriating. People will do anything to believe a man over a woman, even when the evidence is right in front of their faces.
@Eve6
Agreed. Breaking Bad is a great takedown of toxic masculinity but unfortunately much of the fanbase identifies with the toxicity and doesn’t want to see it challenged.
@GiovanniAikido
@piscesautumn
@etheralfem
Toxic masculinity is the pressure to conform to stereotypical hyper masculine traits like violence because of the fear of being associated with the stereotypical feminine.
@langisa45
@honeydropz999
Wrong. Men are abusive, men are violent, men are controlling. You are trying to pass the blame when you call it anything else. Masculinity and violence has been historically connected. Stop pretending that it is not.
