Very proud that @morelandcouncil last night voted to change the name of our municipality. The name references a slave plantation in Jamaica. Slavery is bad, so we shouldn't celebrate it by naming places after it.

The Brunswick Level Crossing Removal Project has been officially delayed until at least 2030. This means the state government can now deliver accessible tram stops and protected bike lanes on Sydney Road, since SkyRail was previously the excuse for inaction 🧵

My main regret - voting to sell off council-owned land in Coburg for a private hospital after losing a huge campaign within the Greens to oppose this - the party powerbrokers successfully mobilised against me to ensure I towed the party line. I’ll never forgive myself for this!

Instead of rewarding cowboy developers who say 'woops my building fell over, can I have a planning permit plz?', why not: - confiscate their land, create a park - ban the owner from ever building higher - force the owner to fully reconstruct the original building
