@SleepyJim0
It's capitalism; the system that demands singular focus on short-term profits. It's rational in the short-term to pollute the environment, though it will kill us all later. Its rational to infect us repeatedly with SARS2, though we'll all eventually be disabled. It's that simple
@SKGandhiMD
Business demanded we stop fighting C19 as it was hurting profits; politicians, who work for business, scrapped all safety measures.
Some were still reluctant 2 shop & work so business, who own media, demanded they stop reporting the pandemic.
It's that simple.

@1goodtern
Article on BBC Scotland last week about how the numbers were down. Heard some person on the radio telling a morning show how everything was fine, cases on way down...No one now reporting they are back up. Sturgeon did this trick for 2 years.
@duncanwilliam11
Potholes, rats, rubbish, teacher cuts, college strikes, unfulfilled Indy promises, Covid raging...SNPers seem to be the only ones who didnt see this coming.
@PharmaDRclinic
I want Novovax, fresh from the fridge. Please listen to the people requesting this vaccine; you are about to find out they are very informed-almost certainly more so than your staff. Please ask your staff to mask - with proper respirators. And open windows where possible.
I phoned/emailed 8 dentists in Glasgow last summer asking what safety measures they still had/were willing to use for me: I either got no response, was told "we are following Scot Gov recommendations" (no protections), or told "we still have hand gel out front."

We are asking people to make a 65 second phone call to their local dentist or optician and tell us the outcome. We will combine and amplify. See
4,000 dead (an undercount) so far in 2024.
They died because infected people breathed on them. They didn't get infected from a surface; they were killed by infected people. If you are wandering around unmasked, esp while ill, this is what you are doing to people around you.
UK Registered Covid Deaths to(inc) Week 14 2024
England 3,305
Wales 225
Scotland 348
Northern Ireland 145
Non Residents 11
UK Total Covid deaths 4,034
Week 1 to 14 in 2024
@gwladwr
This is a national scandal
@HMcArdleHT
We were told we could asses risk with data: we have no data! I need a dentist and an optician, things I do when cases are low. I've parents evenings. I've no idea of the heightened risk, nor does any of the Scottish public.
I'd have thought all media, corporate, & political institutions working together to hide the ongoing pandemic in the same way they hide climate catastrophe or the crimes of the US empire would interest
@medialens
but it seems they can't see through the filters on this one.
I only personally know about *one* of the deaths in this data release.
It was the death of a man who caught Covid at the end of February.
Before he was recovered from covid he developed pneumonia, and then died in hospital.
His death is in the 'flu or pneumonia' column.
He was
@Prof_J_Lawton
The thought seems to be it's all over. All of it. It's just a cold. Its ok to get a virus in the summer. It's ok to get sick two or three times a year. Otherwise, the news - and doctors - would tell us about it and politicians would do something about it.
@ionafyfe
Pls do some research & use ur voice to protect people.
You're chances of all risk mortality a yr after infection are greatly enhanced.
Your chances of diabetes, stroke, and dementia in your lifetime are raised many times after just one infection.
And as for repeat infections:
@educationgovuk
Kids who returned ill after summer have now made the kids at their table ill.
The kids who returned ill eventually had to take a day or 2 off.
Now the newly ill are having to take days off.
Test all kids before returning & keep C19 positive ones off-this will maximise attendance
@drsimonwilliams
There's no focus. This brief VT from on STV is it. There's no political discussion. No safety measures. Nothing. No one is masking-inc in hospitals. The SNP call Covid a "winter virus" and we all believe.
@Gemma_clark14
Bout half the people with
#LongCovid
meet the criteria for ME. Your chances of long covid increase with each infection. "living with covid" is a slow moving car crash. Another few years and a third of our society will be disabled.
@DailyJLee
Capitalism put us here. The entire pandemic has been shaped by business trying to maintain short term profits, rather than science or public health.
@CovidSolidarit1
If people think we're in a pandemic they'll be less likely to shop, travel, & will want protections at work: this cuts into business profits. Business funds politicians' political parties, owns the media they need to get elected...
Things really are that simple.

C19 is disproportionately killing and disabling the elderly, the working class, the poor, and the already disabled, yet the "left" in the UK has nothing to say. Working instead hand in glove with capital to pretend the pandemic is over so corporate profits can be maximised .
@AisGall16
@MrMcEnaney
@heraldscotland
Scotland currently experiencing third highest wave of entire pandemic. Just under 50 people per week dying atm. This was considered an unacceptable number in 2020
@ionafyfe
You read any study about what that's silently doing to you?
You know the next one gives you a near 50% chance of developing a new long-term health condition?
By 12 almost all of us are disabled. This was the modelling in 2020. A Canadian study this yr backs it up with real cases
@KashPrime
So business can keep shops open at maximum capacity, so they can avoid the costs of cleaning the air, so countries can keep making £££ from tourism...in short: capitalism.
@genxjenh
The change will come when worker shortages hit. Been saying it for four years. The complete abandonment of safety measures was done by business for their short term profits; when LC and absence hits their profits, things will change.
@Gemma_clark14
It's almost like pretending it's gone away doesn't work.
Cases going vertical for some weeks, driven by a new variant, Taylor Swift, tourism, and the "Tartan Army" Deaths also up the last month - though that isn't getting reported yet.
@MrMcEnaney
@EISUnion
This will just save the council money-and is probably their hope. The biggest impact teachers could make is work to rule and abandon of all trips, clubs, etc. Nationally this should be done in response to this year's FU over our pay.
@germfreegangsta
Almost hoping we have a bird flu pandemic-for we'll have to take safety measures against a virus so deadly; that will lead to Covid cases falling.
@AisGall16
@MrMcEnaney
@heraldscotland
Multiple studies since 2020 have shown Covid causes accelerated aging and brain damage. Just one infection can reduce IQ between 2 and 10 points. I know many teachers on infection 3/4. How many have our unvaccinated kids had?
@LeftieStats
Pretending pandemic is over as elderly and disabled people continue to die and huge numbers of the working class continue to become disabled
@StevenBonnarSNP
@theSNP
Oh look: The SNP are talking about
#Indy
- must be an election coming up, cause they never mention it any other time. Playing us all for mugs.
@Gemma_clark14
And we're still disposable.
Teachers are still getting sick, still developing LC, schools still remain the second most likely place to catch the virus, wastewater levels are the highest they've been since December.
@DrSuneelDhand
I was very fit. I caught covid, a year before the vaccines. I am now chronically ill. There are many tens of millions like me around the world.
#LongCovid
@tombennett71
Multiple studies since 2020 showing covid causes brain damage. Just one infection can kill as many as 10 IQ points. Our largely unvaccinated kids have been hotboxing covid for 4 years. Scotland is currently experiencing the third highest wave of the entire pandemic.

@scottishbktrust
They'll come after teachers next.
We were being encouraged, now commanded to put our work on Teams; what need is there for us?
All you need is someone on crowd control telling the weans to download the lesson.
Teachers are blindly, enthusiastically making themselves redundant
@wompwomp807
@ionafyfe
The comparison is deadly air.
We can drive C19 down 2 incredibly low levels, easily. Would only take couple of months-& no lockdown.
Testing, quarantine, temporary masking in public, air purifiers in businesses, hospitals, & schools & we could then 'live with the virus'.
@alisonthewliss
Meanwhile SNP councillors were
A: busy cutting 500 teachers
B: failing to do anything about the massive Covid wave that is now hitting us.
@beccyjaneh
So many doctors are right wing covid deniers. Every hospital I go to in Glasgow - 5 so far, every GP I see - 6, every specialist - 5, every nurse - dozens, all laugh, make faces, make comments about my mask. This has been happeing for 3 full yrs. Even in the midst of giant waves
@SafeInside2024
Can we get
@Specsavers
to become Covid safer? I've been wearing broken glasses for two years! Need an eyes test too. I am not alone in putting this off till I can find somewhere I can try on glasses with some kind of protection.
@ScotNational
No masks. Palestinians are wearing masks. American protestors are wearing masks. People in Scotland: we care about Palestinians, but the elderly and the disabled: they can just die.

Billions across the entire country.
Ipads across many authorities.
Repair to the ipads: they break CONSTANTLY
Wi-fi installation in schools across the country.

3 private companies on the teat in Glasgow alone. The true figure for these paperweights is astronomical.
@BarryBlackNE
He did. And he did it with the full support of Nicola Sturgeon - something that everyone seems to have forgotten, and that teachers just cant seem to handle.
I didn't hear any others in the SNP complaining.
@GraemetsmithT
@theSNP
As the Indy vote approached SNP all but dropped it's pledge to remove Trident.
As for teachers, SNP cutting 500 of them in Glasgow.
Why don't govts act?
1. Like the climate, the short-term financial benefits of letting rip are guiding them.
2. They don't want to impose restrictions on business again.
3. Everyone is also being led by confirmation bias-& fear of being wrong.
We are living in "Dont Look Up"
C0VlD is escalating rapidly in New York City, and it’s the DEMOCRATIC governor and the DEMOCRATIC mayor trying to ban masks. The blue team is pro-C0VlD too.
@LongCovidHell
Business demanded we stop fighting C19 as it was hurting their profits. Politicians, who work for business, scrapped all safety measures.
Some of us were still reluctant to shop & work so business, who own newspapers, demanded they stop reporting the pandemic. And here we are.
@DoubleDownNews
Covid death after covid death & still "the left" refuses to act.
Covid is over because capital demands it's over. Meanwhile the elderly, the poor, the working class, & the disabled, continue to die & develop Long Covid so business can maximise short term profits
@Elcano6791
@IrvineWelsh
It's particularly bad in Scotland, esp the west, esp Glasgow. Shameful we never acknowledge it. And until we do it wont change.
@MrMcEnaney
@heraldscotland
Is ANYONE EVER going to look into the damn ipad contract???! Hellooooo?!
From this, to schools binning entire rooms of working pcs...does it not seem like there's some kind of drive to make children and staff entirely dependent on Apple? Like maybe there's an exclusivity deal?!
@MrMcEnaney
@AHDScotland
In Glasgow, the SNP...
can we start telling the public (and teachers) about who is responsible for this?
Many in the public don't seem to know the SNP run our health service either.
@GCParentsGroup
Its the SNP-with the support of the Greens - making these cuts. This needs stated, repeatedly. The only thing that makes the SNP act is negative publicity - see the exam fiasco of 2020.
@LuckyHeronSay
Easy. Start with 8 billions twats. Then subtract the number of decent people still wearing masks during this ongoing pandemic that is claiming the lives of vast numbers of our most vulnerable citizens, and rendering disabled so many front line workers.
