Abusing or threatening a rugby referee is always wrong. Criticising them when they make mistakes is the way you drive standards. Nic Berry and his TMO presided over a decision making that resulted in no points being awarded when a try was scored. That should be criticised.

The amount of misplaced rage at Scotland is hilarious. They’re a rugby team in a rugby tournament, who criticised the organisers for refusing to reschedule a rugby match. The idea that NZ, England, Wales and the others wouldn’t have acted the same way is laughable. #RWC2019

A couple thoughts on #WALvSCO : 1. We won. By a point, and it was closer than it should have been, but we won. If we’d beaten Wales by 1 in 2021, instead of losing by 1, we’d have won the Six Nations that year. It’s how you play in the other four games that matters far more.

The truth of course is that there’s no such thing as #rugbyvalues . That died when we lionised Neil Back for cheating, when Richards wasn’t banned for life after Bloodgate, when Exeter Chiefs’ culture was called ‘wholesome’ instead of ‘massively racist’. Rugby’s just a sport now.

3. Ben O’Keefe largely got the big calls right, but he clearly gets swayed by a narrative. Scotland are dominant, then Wales are indisciplined; Wales are resurgent, so Scotland are basically Idi Amin at the breakdown. 12 straight penalties against Scotland simply isn’t credible.

What we all know, and for some reason you can’t say, is this was the single most deadly terrorist attack in British history. This was the cold-blooded murder of 270 people.
