Waiting in the chemist behind an addiction patient taking their methadone prescription (very common in Glasgow) struck me how kind the pharmacists always are. Call them by their name, ask how they are, treat them with respect. Pharmacists are front line and deserve some praise.

Baffled why Conservative leadership debates are even on TV when it's nothing to with us, The Electorate, as we have zero power in this decision. Just tell us when Conservative party members decide who the new PM is and then the date of the next general election.

I appear to the only person disquieted by Matt Hancock’s cheerful explanation of how politicians avoid journalists’ questions by ‘pivoting’, meaning talking about something else entirely to avoid the truth, and it being met by admiration by his camp mates. Feel very alone.

Uncomfortable with the dilution of the word ‘grief’ People can be saddened, sorrowful and feel diminished by the loss of someone they admired. But real grief is an excoriating, debilitating, agonising hollowing out of the heart. That’s why there’s a specific word to describe it.
