Shame they don’t show the CG in the background. Just watched the keynote from Weta at FMX and it’s mind-blowing. Absolutely invisible VFX on these shots. Remember, it’s all filmmaking! All departments working together make a film. Physical or digital? Who cares! It’s all amazing.

Actually, it was filmed with a Mini-DV camera in SD so a DVD is the correct format for this. The BluRay would have to be upscaled so there’s no point! Just grab a DVD on eBay and experience it as it was originally released!
A groundbreaking moment for VFX. Highly recommend the BluRay, it’s dirt cheap and it has so many behind the scenes about all of the film’s production including the CGI
15 years ago, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" revolutionized the world of visual effects. Our team at Digital Domain masterfully created a CG version of Brad Pitt aging in reverse, an achievement that garnered an Academy Award.
I have a feeling that something got broken & lost this time and it won’t come back! So many VFX houses are struggling and so many people were laid off. Also so many talented artists moved on! I want to be optimistic but not sure we will ever go back to normal! I hope it does! 😔
