Atlanta City Council is weighing a proposal to follow in the footsteps of places like Denver, Boston and Rhode Island by offering city residents rebates for e-bikes.

When new developer is a bad neighbor telling cyclists to dismount, that you can’t use the parking deck as a trail, that you cannot use roller blades on property. The city GAVE you this property that used to be critical pedestrian & bike infrastructure!
Today, we’re proud to announce the launch of the Floridian!
This train combines two iconic routes — the Capitol Limited and Silver Star — and will offer traditional dining throughout the full journey.
BREAKING: City of Charlotte expected to buy Norfolk Southern’s O-Line in Mecklenburg County for $74M, plus $17M for land near Charlotte Gateway Station, for Red Line.
The state not funding transit is such a concern THAT WE F*CKING APPROVED AN INCREASE IN SALES TAXES TO FUND THE DAMN TRANSIT OURSELVES- JESUS FUCK LET’S JUST BUILD IT ALREADY AND STOP MAKING EXCUSES
This is absolutely a solid concern. Because Georgia gives MARTA jack squat for dedicated funding, the agency relies heavily on "fare box" (the fares collected from riders) in order to fund operations. Lower ridership means less money to properly operate trains and buses.

We are thrilled with our green fleet progress! Thank you to ALL of the operating departments that work hard to support Atlanta’s

goals! ♻️ 🚙🚛🚒🔋
Oh my god if it’s just a website rebranding.
Remember every single branding refresh is $$$ that could have went to more trails, protected bike lanes, & pedestrian oriented spaces across the city.
Atlanta has changed a lot over the past 20 years.
So has the BeltLine.
Now, it's time to evolve again.
The next chapter of the Atlanta BeltLine drops tomorrow.
Seriously, if anyone wants to build buildings and activate streets like this in Atlanta, let me know. I want to create buildings like the first in addition to protected bike lanes, obviously. For me, it’s about creating places people want to be.
Should have been housing going in its place. Ridiculous we’re getting a 2nd standalone Chick-fil-A within half a mile in Atlanta’s highest price per square feet office market.
BeltLine traffic is going to be alleviated with the streetcar. People just don’t want to admit it yet.
Many suggest only tourists use the BeltLine… lol… no… tens of thousands move here to use it whenever they want, including multiple times a day.
In all seriousness, why shouldn’t we???
@MARTAtransit
themed crosswalks to guide you to the transit station.
Add a new public parklet at the BeltLine crossing.
Fucking vomit 🤮- new private storage building going up adjacent the
@AtlantaBeltLine
&
@piedmontpark
. A big fuck you to
@AtlBotanical
for making this happen & wasting such prime space in the city- such a shame.
We could have added homes for our children to attend good schools.
Not a fan of people blocking the trail, as well as the ramp & stairs to the trail. If you’re going to set up shop, you shouldn’t be on a spot people rely on to get by.
Board members who do not ride should resign or be removed from office. Simple as that. Get people making decisions who use the system. Don’t care if they used to ride or whatever reason, those who do not are out of touch.
A nice vantage point that reminds us… much of Atlanta is relatively not developed… & even locations such as Midtown that have seen tremendous development, are still relatively small.
Atlanta moving into its concrete protected bike lane phase is the future we deserve.
Huge thank you & congrats to the neighbors, advocates, & MNA who have been pushing for this for years.

The most ambitious car-free scheme on the continent, Montréal pedestrianized 11 commercial arteries—totaling 9.4 km—in seven boroughs this summer.
A pandemic-era initiative pushed by business leaders, they have quickly become cherished destinations for locals and tourists alike.
Does Atlanta want to be a leader in transportation or a leader in wasting your taxes?
Elections matter. So do decisions of elected officials, as well as whether ridiculous ideas are even entertained. Current officials know better.
Mayor Dickens has walked back on Beltline rail, now saying that analysis will decide if the path gets rail or "rubber tires," "small pods" or nothing at all. Similarly, Beltline chief Clyde Higgs says their "position on all things transit" is yet to come.
Since 2019, Minneapolis/St Paul have constructed or started construction on:
14.5 mi of LRT
26 miles of BRT
39.9 miles of ART
If they can do it, so can Houston
I’ve overheard adults talking about why they won’t ride MARTA… yet Woodward Academy students have a deep rolling crew that reliably take it to school together!
IMO, for the adults it’s more about familiarity of where to go, what to do in different situations, & travel options.
If we had Amtrak routes that left & arrived in Atlanta more reasonably, I’d travel to more cities and work from the train just for fun.
As is, the departure & arrival times largely prohibit that experience.
The Milwaukee - Chicago
@Amtrak
connection is top notch. There’s no better way to work on the go. Just wish it were faster! Can you imagine Milwaukee to Chicago in an hour or less 🥵??
Atlanta is a huge economic centre, and one of the biggest cities in the US south, but its transit hasn’t kept up. In today’s video, we’ll talk about how it can catch up!
Parking lot improvements at Inman Park-Reynoldstown Station are complete! All lots are open. Thank you for your patience. Next up: Kensington, Chamblee, & West End Stations. Visit to stay updated on our progress.
Reminder that these 4 buildings were recently delivered or actively under construction in Atlanta. Neither the city nor the neighborhoods have turned to turmoil.
We need more housing and commercial variety in every single neighborhood.
Designers says these
@GeorgiaTech
-born ideas could make Midtown
#ATL
"world-class" and “the most livable district in the Southeast.” Here's a breakdown:
Hulsey Yard in Atlanta completely empty again this morning.
CSX needs to sell so the land can be developed to add housing, offices, & commercial space in one of the most walkable, transit rich areas of the entire metro.
Soft opening of Mikkelson’s in Reynoldstown at the spoke along the Trolley Line Trail by Dyan’s!
They’re playing the week by ear with the storm.
Plenty of grab & go options that I’ll be learning what’s available different days of the week. Wines to come later 👀
Worldly Wednesday 🌏
Any 2-story rowhouse in Tokyo, the owner can operate a restaurant, boutique, or small workshop on the ground floor.
That gives the city an incredible supply of potential unique microspaces that are affordable for entrepreneurs.
Ottawa should legalize this.
“But why wouldn’t we build slow AF, extremely limited capacity, where we’d need several hundred of these compared to the capacity of a single train, in debt ourselves to a third party for software & maintenance that is known for being VC backed and going bankrupt…” - oh
Atlanta, y’all sure you don’t want to create more pedestrian oriented spaces downtown, along Edgewood, on Peachtree, and near all our commercial nodes?
Y’all see how business friendly this is and how much $$$ it generates?
Lancaster, California, spent $11.5m creating a pedestrian-friendly downtown.
In four years, it attracted $130m private investment, doubled its downtown tax revenue, created 48 new businesses and 800 new jobs, and road injuries decreased by two-thirds.
Cities are for people.
City of Atlanta had more than 2.1 million shared micro-mobility rides in 2023, the highest ridership since the pandemic; and for 2024, trips are up 17% year-to-date.
Atlantans are hungry for alternatives to driving. Urban planning should reflect it.
Of all the transit projects to go all in on, we get a concerted focus on the one that does not add transit capacity, a new line, nor new areas served with high capacity transit.
Just a station redesign.
Ironically, MARTA ignoring local leaders and pushing ahead on an unpopular project is one advantage to an independent transit agency.
Unfortunately, they consistently use that independence to the detriment of the system’s growth, rather than in pursuit of its improvement.
Georgia Ave & RDA should be permanently dedicated to bikes, pedestrians, & a busway.
Great route,
@ATLDOT
!!!
Excellent job keeping the majority of the streets blocked off from through traffic, made it wonderful!
Residents are ready for leadership who will actually deliver on a bold vision & prioritize funds on shit that matters, like basic fucking infrastructure.
Atlanta has the money to get shit done. The thing we lack is the will to follow through.
Wild Atlanta hasn’t pursued federal funds to build BeltLine transit.
Perhaps we’re in Fed transit funding purgatory from delivering our fed funded BRT…
But still. Go for MORE than 2.5 mile ext., go for 16! Have
@NikemaWilliams
work w/
@ReverendWarnock
&
@ossoff
… get it done.
"Rep. Nikema Williams told Rose Scott on 'Closer Look' that she’s 'all for light rail' and that the problem seems to be mostly about dollars. 'It’s a funding issue and that’s where we come in' she said." 👍
Yes, rail is expensive. But that's solvable.
We need to just build the damn projects that *add capacity*.
That simple. People weren’t voting for renovations of existing stations. They want more options to get around the city, quickly.
It’s simple.
“Shipman told me “the audit shows the oversight and controls within MARTA are not up to snuff.”
As to MARTA’s complaint that auditors gave little time to answer questions: “These are the same questions I asked 18 months ago. There should be no surprise.”
Can’t believe this driver just crashed RIGHT INTO THE BOLLARDS AT EL TESORO after pulling through the intersection.
Driver said they were fine, but WHAT THE FUCK this wasn’t even the bollard near the intersection.
Need an Atlanta mayor who delivers this in 8 years:
-4 years to build out our core: Downtown & Midtown connections & connected to
@AtlantaBeltLine
-4 years to connect the BeltLine to outer neighborhoods, between said neighborhoods, & connections to trails outside city limits
The Netherlands’ rural cycling network could be the eighth wonder of the world: thousands of miles of smooth, signed, scenic, separated paths connecting every remote corner of the country.
The result? A cycle tourism industry worth €2.4 billion annually to the national economy.
I should have added, this was parking at Inman Park / Reynoldstown station night of the 70,000 persons attending the Copa America match of Argentina & Canada.
Basically a peak event and the lot is near empty.
@CollieMARTA
, this is not the “service” enhancements we need.
Reminder that MARTA decided resurfacing parking lots was more important than allocating more $$$ to Campbellton Rd or
@beltlinerailnow
not just last year, but also for 2025.
It is bullshit.
🥟 A reminder that the people behind Northern China Eatery have opened Dumpling Factory at Westside Paper (& have delivery across the city) 👀

Best way to end homelessness is to put a roof over their heads. This is a W.
I also want to be clear, I support adding more homes for the unsheltered in my neighborhood, which has wonderful proximity to multiple grocery stores and reliable transit.
On Monday, we welcomed The Melody residents into their new abodes, witnessing smiles & tears of happiness light up our city. The Melody is a groundbreaking initiative tackling unsheltered homelessness by transforming shipping containers into temporary homes.

One line?!? 😬
Metro Atlanta, who ya got?
Yes- I rerouted a handful of lines to try and maximize new connections, transfers, & various service areas.
Keeping this mostly ITP for simplicity- as it is already “busy”.
Charlotte has big plans for a new mobility hub called Gateway Station
It will have housing, retail, office space - and access to:
• Amtrak service
• Taxi & ride share
• Raised Greenway
• Gold Line streetcar
• Silver Line Light Rail
• Red Line Commuter Rail
• Local,
Atlanta has a history of electing mayors that live next to 285, including Dickens.
Elect people that live near other constituents, ride bikes, and don’t find it reasonable to spend so much money on a truck.
Nice car, Mayor
@andreforatlanta
!
We are electrifying our fleet to move Atlanta forward to a greener, more climate-resilient future. The Atlanta Mayor's official car is now electric. 🔌🚗
Not everyone is gonna love it… however several do.
Rode the new cycle track on Memorial from the BeltLine in Reynoldstown to Downtown. Took me 7 minutes.
Seven. Minutes.
No 5 PM rush hour vehicular traffic that I passed on Memorial, either.
$2.6 mil to run 2-4 shuttles (up to 60 passengers)- SAME AS AN EXISTING BUS FULL of people at a time.
What a waste of time & money.
Just BUILD BRT that can MOVE THOUSANDS AN HOUR & shut out these grifters from any position that influences decisions.
MARTA continues to waste your tax dollars, spending more $$$ on resurfacing parking lots next year than Campbellton high capacity transit line… and now this bullshit.
@CollieMARTA
, I thought you wanted to improve transit services and grow ridership. THIS AIN’T IT!
"Funding for the nearly half-mile Demonstration Pilot will be supported by a significant contribution from MARTA..."
I'd like to know exactly how much money MARTA is spending on this demo of autonomous Personal Rapid Transit vehicles at the airport.
The BeltLine is not enough. We need to open more streets for bike/ped/transit only access so we can get around easier and frankly have a more enjoyable city to live in.
This weekend was good for enjoying the weather & being out. With the increased BeltLine movement it really made the case for ATL to live up to being a walkable city & close some streets. Anyone know the status onthat Irwin Study?
Atlanta is the bicycling darling of the southeast, regardless of decades of horrendous sprawl & perception. Anyone that builds auto-centric in the city is missing out on $$$ and cementing themselves as has-beens who don’t understand the current & future realities of our city.

Atlanta legislation to not require parking moving forward to NPU’s!
Review amended language, NPU dates, & show up to support! Businesses should not be required by the government to add vehicular parking if the business does not wish to incur said costs.
REMINDER: Mayor of Atlanta does not control MARTA’s fare box price of entry, MARTA does.
Construction takes years, do not let dumb shit like this be a talking point to halt the overall project.
Mayor Dickens has qualms about Beltline rail based on operating costs:
“We are still in the state that does not fund its public transit...We do not have support for MARTA nor will we have support for the Beltline...it’s all in the fare box"
1/
A reminder that the
@AtlantaBeltLine
is not enough. We need continuous, reliable routes for All Ages & Abilities, connecting neighbors with destinations across the city.
We have numerous gaps, however lots of progress in queue. Next few years will be huge for Atlanta.
People who only travel Atlanta by car are missing out on how connected our bicycle network is becoming.
Just rode 11.5 miles. I estimate ~75% was protected.
Where are we placing downtown’s jersey barriers after completion,
