I see the UK Government's attempts to get Welsh schoolkids to sing 'One Britain One Nation' in order to counter increasing devo/indy sentiment has resulted in schoolchildren across Wales wearing red and singing hen wlad fy nhadau. Not exactly mission successful

Please can we have one interview with the First Minister of Wales where they aren't asked 'why aren't you following England'? How often does 'why aren't you following Wales' get asked of Johnson? Where's the BBC impartiality?

Pretty remarkable that this is the Queen’s first visit to Wales in 5 years. There are only four countries in the UK and before Covid she had about 300 engagements a year. She doesn’t care about Wales, neither does the so-called ‘Prince of Wales’. Totally bizarre institution

Has to be said - the BBC coverage of the Senedd election has been even worse than expected. I thought it'd improve given the pandemic but it is still being entirely treated as a second or third order election. Far less coverage than the US presidential election.

Just walking past St Helen’s and thinking once again how much it needs to be redeveloped into a stadium for Ospreys. You’ve got a rugby team without a stadium of its own (playing in one way too big) and a seafront stadium being under-utilised. No brainer for a levelling up bid.

Don’t like to share them but look at how this ultra wealthy-backed news outlet tries to divide workers - naked propaganda against people trying to make a living in favour of those trying to cut living standards. And then watch the whole thing and wait for the amazing plot twist

Doing reading on Welsh Gov fiscal framework and practicing mindfulness about UK Gov decision to pretend HS2, a rail line entirely in England, is an 'England and Wales' project - thus contributing Welsh taxes towards it and robbing Wales of £5bn Barnett Consequential it was due

Funny, you weren’t seeing this when Carwyn was leader and winning record victories. Both factions ignoring the plain and simple truth: if Drakeford was UK leader he’d be losing. If Starmer or Corbyn were Welsh leader they’d win. If England was like Wales, Labour would win

The real success story for Labour is in Wales - whose First Minister @MarkDrakeford runs a popular and progressive government. Nearly *half* of all Labour gains across the whole of the UK were in Wales.

There's a huge discrepancy between triumphalism of Welsh election results - pro-more powers parties winning a super-majority, Abolish getting a dire result and wiped out - and what is happening on the ground. Which is to say, a move towards devolution in name only

Nice article. England isn't an island though.

This seems spot on: people in Cardiff want more space for independent businesses - we want to have a city with culture and character, not chains and student flats!

Some friendly challenge: This is an interesting piece of content that I enjoyed but I wonder who it's for. YesCymru now has - in Welsh political standards - a huge budget that I'm pretty sure if used well could really turn politics here on its head.

Where you go from here, I don't know. It is similar to the situation in Scotland, where Scottish voters decide one thing and the UK Government (which Scotland voted against) says no.

Good stuff, we cut from five to four, now let’s cut it to three. When the reduced number of professional rugby players makes the national side even worse and it hits incomes further, we can cut it down to two. The managed decline continues

The WRU have announced it's five year-headline strategy. Big financial problems which includes a £35m funding gap to the pro game. Plan is to try to close the gap this summer but if they can't a reduction of pro sides is a real possibility

Pretty obvious at this point that they have complete political control of England, have been spooked by Scottish independence, and have decided to push the 'British' stuff on Scotland and Wales. But they're getting it completely wrong

That's 30 seats for Labour and 1 for the Liberal Democrats. It looks all but certain that Plaid Cymru won't have any say in government. That's beaten all expectations, I think

Success of the Welsh rollout actually makes me pessimistic about the future of devolution in Wales. All mistakes or controversies - however minor - turn into a media firestorm. We conduct one of the best vaccine rollouts in the world and I don't think anyone off twitter knows.

NEW: #Wales continues to lead the UK for the number of adults who've had a first dose of vaccine against #COVID19 per pop. 31.55% of people have had a vaccine. At the latest slowed down rate, #Wales will have given out a first jab to *A THIRD* of the adult pop by Friday.

Wales has infrastructure far behind the wealthiest areas of the UK. No subways for cities, no feasible public transport linking most population settlements, no electrified rail, no north-south rail links. List goes on. These things drive private investment.
