It’s growing more and more troubling seeing players at the high school level making tweets announcing their intentions to transfer to a new school. Even worse when the coaches send tweets welcoming them. This isn’t the NCAA transfer portal, it’s #HSFB . It’s ruining the sport.😡

As I continue my trip across America, I stopped in Grambling, Louisiana and @Grambling1901 to see the Stadium named after one of the most legendary coaches and leaders in the nation, Coach Eddie Robinson. This is a remarkable facility, it’s truly first class!

Finally back home at 3:45 am from Rabun Gap. Two games in two nights, all the way to Elizabeth City, then to Rabun Gap and back. Just a tad over 1,000 miles. This is how much I love our state and covering football. There’s nothing else I’d rather be doing in life.

Like a well respected coach just told me today here at the NC coaches clinic in Greensboro, if the NC legislature tries to take over the duties of the @NCHSAA , then it means “the best days of NC high school athletics are behind us”. I’m personally not sure this is a good move.

And when you were paid during season, it’s just pennies an hour. Coaching isn’t even a minimum wage job, and then some districts tax it like a bonus, so you’re really just doing for the love of the kids and the game. States should do better, invest in kids because coaches care.
