Holy fucking shit…I just saw the first doctor wearing an N95, properly and consistently on my unit. He’s new to our unit so I approached him with “so, are you wearing a mask because we’re in a pandemic?” He said yes. He wears it with all patients and in the hospital.

Btw I stayed masked while I spoke and there was nothing preventing people from hearing me. Just like we did in 2019 and back, we keep masks on when talking in surgery, in TB patient rooms, in any isolation area when talking. Giving a speech or lecture is no different. 👍🏽

Guess what? Nobody has any idea how this could happen. It will keep happening. My guess is n the third round they’ll take notice. Several staff were sick and a few tested positive. The rest just had sniffles or a cough so they kept working unmasked. One by one the pts got sick.

I have to complain…what’s new. Apparently we (hospital HCW) are not productive enough to make the hospital money when we are staffed at safe patient case loads. A shift that required 4 nurses and 4 techs will get 2 nurses and 2 techs. Twice as much work. Patient safety - zero

@CIDRAP We keep exposing every human born in the hospital. There are no hospital units wear all HCW and visitors wear N95 masks around newborns. Not one. Also, we never tested our hospital employees. It’s always been self report symptoms.

@1goodtern @rkaviate A patient called me this week, self reporting sinus infection. Wanted to find out which meds were safe while breastfeeding. Asked what her dr suggested…hasn’t called them yet. Maybe not a sinus infection 🤦🏽‍♀️

@Debs_Kropotkin It is. Two ER docs, two dermatologists and one PCP had no knowledge of monkeypox and it’s varied presentations. Also our hospital has not issued any guidance yet for HCWs. Our unit physical therapist thought it was only spread in LGBTQ+ community so no longer concerned. Be safe

My friend just wrote me this, “Your soul is dyed by the color of its thoughts. You feel alone because you so often think such dark and lonely thoughts.” That’s just it. Reality is dark and it’s lonely here. These are not thoughts, this is the painful reality most can’t tolerate.
