Front Range Passenger Rail is coming to your ballot! Train service will be on offer from Pueblo to Fort Collins via Boulder, Denver, and CO Springs.
How often should they run? How much service would you fund?
Take our 1-min survey today!
#BuildFRPR
In 2018 Oklahoma built a 4.8 mile streetcar system for $135m including the trains.
It’s got real-time tracking info at every stop & non-electrified sections where the light rail vehicles run on battery power.
Wouldn’t this be perfect for Larimer St / RiNo in Denver?
#GDTOnTour
Empower Field Station after the end of the
#TaylorSwift
show; operation “get the
#Swifties
home” is in full effect.
All we wanted was for
@RideRTD
to take this one seriously and that they did. Senior staff were up late to see how it all went.
A great effort by all RTD staff! 👍
Why on earth does
@RideRTD
still allow this company (Outdoor Promotions) to maintain their bus stops?
This one hasn’t had any attention in months, if not years. They are clearly not fulfilling their end of the bargain.
Apparently some car-centric thinkers are worried about parking when Casa Bonita reopens.
No, you can’t use
@RideRTD
’s Wadsworth parking garage…
….but you are more than welcome to use one of the 20 buses or trains which pass by the area each hour!
Denver,
@DENAirport
is ignoring you.
You have made yourselves ABUNDANTLY CLEAR in public feedback to the
#PenaBlvd
mobility study: you want DEN to seriously consider
#Transit
.
Today, not a single
#CoreAlternative
offers any detail on impacts from expanding the
#ALine
or
#buses
!
There's a far more sustainable way to add capacity to DIA!
Instead of widening Pena, let's push
@DenverDOTI
to support
#DoubleTracking
the A Line to get 7.5-MINUTE frequencies along with funding for more
@RideRTD
bus service to
@DENAirport
from Boulder, Thorton, and Aurora!
Welcome to the coolest summer for the rest of your life.
Can we please spend some more time chatting about on how expanding Peña Blvd is equitable because it will temporarily shave 5 minutes off someone’s commute?
Please do not put your loved ones into a small car. In an accident the size and weight make all the difference.
Perhaps try something bigger… like a train instead.

@NACTO
's

design concept might be the best fit for Colorado and Federal Blvds.
GDT has voted to endorse YES on Referred Question 2O for Park Hill. 🗳️
This is a🐔&🥚issue: Transit ridership growth requires adjacent dense/mixed-use housing, and large developments are unsustainable w/o strong transit connections.
Denver needs both!
This week, Los Angeles gets it's downtown light rail tunnel that will speed up journeys and reduce transfers.
Come on
@CityofDenver
and
@RideRTD
, where's our plan?
BREAKING NEWS!
E-Bikes will be allowed on
@RideRTD
buses & trains from Tue Nov 15th.
55lb weight limit for front of bus racks, not allowed on light rail high-blocks.
Thanks to all who supported our campaign!
Thrilled to see

After what seems an age of shortened consists, it’s nice to see full length 4-unit light rail trains on the E Line again.
Ridership is increasing… slowly but surely.
The failure to reprioritize resources on to D, E & H Line rail replacement shuttles needs to be called out for what it is:
Gross negligence & incompetence.
Today was the day Denver’s light rail riders found out what
#RTD
really thinks about them.
Change is sorely needed.
RTD has released its proposed fares following the fare study. For riders it really is the best of both options A & B - simplified & lower fares. The airport fare drops slightly to $10.
The systemwide monthly pass will be just $88 (including the airport)!
“We want you to stay and enjoy Golden, Colorado, but also we’ve gotta open the street back up, folks!”
Someone needs to tell
@CityofGolden
that THIS is what Washington Ave looks like when it’s open! Name something better for business than this!
@RideRTD
The fact that this mess at 16th / Stout needed to be called in & wasn’t automatically taken care of shows changes are needed.
Telling us to ‘watch our step’ isn’t enough.
This is the
@TrinityMetro
‘TexRail’ train which runs from downtown Fort Worth to DFW Airport. The 27 mile route enjoys an hourly service operated by Stadler FLIRT DMUs which feature tables & USB outlets.
Would similar units work for RTD’s Northwest rail peak service?
#GDTOnTour
On July 5th & 6th 1978 the "Gang of 19", a group of disability activists, blocked
@RideRTD
buses from moving at Colfax & Broadway. Their actions paved the way for RTD to become a leader in disabled access, years before the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was introduced.
In Denver,
#CommuterRail
is "commuter" in name only.
What we have is a
#RegionalRail
system which operates on frequent & regular intervals throughout the day (useful) vs. obsolete peak-only commuter service.
This is something
@RideRTD
got right, and we are proud of them for it!
"Commuter rail" should be dead... What we need is "regional rail" a system that runs all day, every day, bi directional, consistent and semi frequent service anyone can rely on. People exist outside of the M-F/9 to 5. Let's make transit useful.
Great speech from Councilmember
@Shontel4Council
, urging us to think of the next seven generations and use the money to build the public transportation network residents of Montbello and GVR need to free themselves of car dependency.
Update from
@RTDLadyBoss
regarding e-bikes at
@RideRTD
#RTDBoardMeeting

Acknowledged existing policy was written for small internal combustion vehicles, consulting on new policy, next update in 2 weeks. Plan is allow e-bikes up to 55lbs, treated like bikes.
@DenBicycleLobby
Pre-pandemic, the
@RideRTD
15 & 15L Colfax bus routes carried approx. 7m riders, which about the same as the A Line. If any bus corridor in Denver needs an upgrade for the future, it's this one.
#ColfaxBRT

No, no, no!!!
This is not what you do with the screens. Making your riders wait up to 15 seconds for their bus / train info is as infuriating as hell. Whoever signed off on this is clearly not a transit user.
When will
@RIdeRTD
start putting their riders first?

The grand reveal! We’re exciting to share the RTD Winter Parade Bus! You can see the Parade Bus in person at the Grand Illumination event at Denver Union Station tonight at 4pm!
On Wed Jan 24, 2024 an RTD light rail train, operating a SB E Line service from Union Stn to Ridgegate Pkwy, derailed on a “Hi-Rail” access pad located immediately N of Hampden and approx. 1/2 mile N of Southmoor.
Now, thanks to PUC filings we can finally say what caused it…
We think
@DenverDOTI
and
@RideRTD
should consider hybrid
#TrolleyBuses
for Denver.
Here's why:
✅
#ZeroEmissions
✅Smaller, cheaper batteries vs. reg BEBs
✅In-Motion Charging (<time out of service)
✅Regenerative Braking
✅Longer Lifespan
Read our take:
Right then, let’s talk about Park Hill Golf Course.
- Why are the bus stops on Colorado an afterthought, on a route slated for BRT, being placed in the middle of the intersections?
- Why do we have a drunken bike lane through the site when cars get straight streets?
RTD has presented its proposed fares to the board following the fare study. For riders it really is the best of both options A & B - simplified & lower fares. The airport fare drops slightly to $10.
The systemwide monthly pass will be just $88 (including the airport)!
Another slew of comments against Peña Blvd Highway Widening project at the

All other projects had the # of comments listed (this one had 100's), yet only %s shown here. Also plenty of other reasons stated why people against - not fully summarized!

Seems like
@nexton9news
dismissed the need/viability of investing in the
#ALine
in their segment last night.
We beg to differ.
Hi
@KyleClark
and
@Marshall9News
, we would appreciate the opportunity to sit down with you to highlight what we think was being missed in your segment.
A traffic study showed 73% of vehicles on Peña Boulevard are headed to the airport and the rest are going elsewhere. That changes where funding for a solution comes from.
This is absurd. RTD’s bus stop standards say a 8 x 6’ paved area, free of other objects, needs to be provided for ADA passengers so they can use the bus mounted ramps & then turn 90deg. Denver’s bus stops badly need investment!
Notice how there's no way to enter this
@RideRTD
shelter that is ADA compliant.
For years, they've done a great job of making sure the front of the shelter is clear of snow and ice. Why?
What entity in
@CityofDenver
is responsible for these connections?
Widening Peña Blvd should NOT be the assumed solution for
@DENAirport
ground congestion.
We're with
@rhet0r
on prioritizing transit capacity on the
@RideRTD
A Line to
@DowntownDenver
but also for lines to the rest of the Metro so residents can conveniently leave cars at home.
@rhet0r
@CPRNews
Seconded! Widening the road should NOT be the assumed option/answer from the get-go.
Need to explore how the rest of the Denver Metro (not just the downtowns) can conveniently access
@DENAirport
without passengers having to leave their cars to sit at the airport for days/weeks.
The brilliant
@nbminor
has done some digging and found out that Dr. Joel Fitzgerald routinely drove at 100+ mph on I-25 between his home in Colorado Springs and Denver.
This is
@GovofCO
@jaredpolis
signing bill SB24-032 Methods to Increase the Use of Transit aboard an
@RideRTD
B Line train today.
Someone remarked that there should be at least one Colorado transit bill signed one a train every year.
We totally agree!
Denver Airport presented the latest update of their Peña Blvd masterplan today and they’ve added 2 new decoy options that they are “considering”.
With just one hourly RTD bus service on Peña plus a handful of shuttles, a “bus only” lane doesn’t have the traffic. (1/2)
For as painful as it might be, it's time for a change. The Broncos should buy a big chunk of land out East and build a new stadium by DIA | by

We are saddened to hear that RTD District A Director Kate Williams has had to step down from her position due to serious health issues.
Director Williams is a true transit champ who rides the buses and trains. Her contribution to RTD will be missed.
Train testing at 125mph (+ some overspeed!) has begun on
@GoBrightline
’s new tracks between Cocoa Beach & Orlando Airport.
We could have the same thing running between Fort Collins, Denver & Colorado Springs if we
#BuildFRPR
right.
Instead of
#OneMoreLane
on Pena Blvd which WONT solve traffic congestion at
@DENAirport
...
Wouldn't these look so good on an expanded

Tomorrow on the channel, we will take a look at SBB’s newest trains, the RABe 512 from the Stadler « KISS » family 🚆🇨🇭

A brand new Boeing 737 MAX fuselage, built by Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita, KS, passes an

We’ll conclude this thread by saying that Colorado’s laws allowing accident reports to be sealed are at odds with safety.
There is no reason why we shouldn’t have been told most of this within a week or two of the incident.
RTD riders and taxpayers deserve
#transitparency
!
An illuminating revelation from
@nbminor
has it in writing. If not for lobbying from RTD that moved a decisive SINGLE VOTE...
Denver City Council would've voted to require just a STUDY of transit investments before funding a
#HighwayExpansion
on
#PenaBlvd
to Denver Airport.
A little news here from
@FlorForDenver
: She changed her vote to break with a pro-transit bloc and approve $ for a Peña Boulevard study AFTER speaking w/ RTD's lobbyist.

Unfortunately the open house is being held at a venue which is not on RTD’s bus network. ☹️
So, Lyft it is for the last mile which would be fine apart from the almost non-existent facilities for rider pick up at Church Ranch!

All 3 legs of our journey were running on time including the FF1, 120E, and N Line.

🔴🔙Misleading conclusion from
@DRCOGorg
call this week re/
@RideRTD
:
A Line train frequency increases ARE possible!
Increasing frequencies from 15 to 7.5 mins requires 2 double-tracking projects: 1 could be almost 100% FAA-funded, the other should get major Fed/IIJA funding.
🍀 Happy St. Patricks Day! 🍀
Did you know that Dublin (population 544k) has 15 modern DMU trains / day to Cork (124k) from 6am to 9pm taking approx. 2h 30min?
And people think that Denver (711k) to Boulder (104k) is only good for 3 peak hour trips?
Interesting how a freight train that falls off a bridge sadly killing a truck driver can be cleared up in 4 days yet an RTD light rail derailment closes the line for 3 months?
Another candidate for “most pointless window vinyl” on

Just why bother applying this? It adds absolutely nothing to the advertiser’s message but takes a load away from the rider experience.

#RTDRidership
data is out!
Total ridership grew +2% YoY, but would have been up +7% if workweek days were equalized (1 less this year)
Buses: +13%
Light Rail: -15%
Commuter Rail: +10%
Total Rail: -6%
5.8M total boardings was 3.6M short of pre-pandemic 9.4M in Sep'19
An
@RideRTD
route that doesn’t get a lot of attention but performs its job very well is the 120X, which connects Union Stn with Wagon Rd PnR in Thornton in approx. 20mins.
Here the bus uses the express lanes to speed past traffic on I-25.
Timely reminder that despite running 4-car trains 24/7 at 10min or so headways, New Yorkers still think their ‘G’ subway line is sh*t.
If only we had that in Denver…
The
#FreeMetroRide
that was suspended at the start of COVID is set to return on May 26th.
Odd thing is,
@RideRTD
already runs 5 bus routes that overlap the Union Station to Civic Center service (0, 9, 10, 15, and 19).
Meanwhile, there is still NO BUS SERVICE from LoDo to RiNo.

Listening to Denver City Council debate on Pena Blvd. Great points from Sarah Parady!
Sadly Kevin Flynn is back up to his old tricks - claiming that "induced demand" isn't a thing and that we need more lanes to reduce congestion to reduce emissions!

What's missing in Denver's transit discussion?

Buses aren't always the answer: there are corridors in Denver where the higher speed and higher capacity is worth the cost!
Even sprawling Dallas built a subway in the 1990s and are building more!
