Govan Vehicular Ferry,1880’s, with A & J Inglis' shipyard & ferry slipway in background. A double chain system was used to haul ferry between Water Row, and Pointhouse, allowing horses, carts & carriages to cross. In 1912 ferry replaced by steam vessel. Ref: T-CN19/4/14
