I was walking with dog earlier, and looking around, and just became so overwhelmed with joy that I'm HERE. We did it. We made it to Aotearoa and it's just so beautiful. The birds were singing everywhere. We are SAFE. I cried with joy. Y'all I really can't explain how happy I am.

We have been in Aotearoa for a full year officially!!! Amazing. It's been so good for me, amazing for my son (he's come out of his shell so much, I have never seen such growth in character before!), and my partner and my dog. We are all doing so much better here.

My #OneGoodThing today is finding a spot for my son to live in while he attends University. It's within the budget we set aside, 4 min walk from campus, and with kind elderly flatmates who are keen to look after him, give him rides if he needs them, and take him to the grocers.

My phone memories just told me that 4 years ago today was the first time or wee whānau came to Aotearoa, just to visit that time. We all fell in love. None of us wanted to leave. After begrudgingly returning to the States, every gift my son asked for was to return. We did it!!!

PHEW, I just finished my Te Reo Māori assessment. That last bit (the oral submission) made me break out into a sweat.😂 I hope I didn't completely embarrass myself or the language! And now to wait and see what the grade is.... 😅 At least I can submit again if needed! 😅

@chronicallybeee @Forequick9 So many diseases are becoming resistant!! There's antibiotic resistant gonorrhea, antibiotic resistant staph, antibiotic resistant tuberculous, MRSA.... So many things. Basically the bacterium have gotten wise to our attempts and are finding ways around it.

People very rarely fake disabilities; they much more often fake being abled because society demands it for their comfort. The idea of people trying to police someone's disability or saying X person isn't "disabled enough" to need help is pretty obscene, actually.

So in Chicago as a landlord you're legally obligated to keep your rental homes warm (for reference, this is 20°C during the day and 19°C at night). Dealing with the cold homes here is truly mind boggling to my Chicago born and raised arse. Landlords need to provide better. 😑

I had a second date with a man today, and it actually felt pretty great. Much better and more comfortable than most of my previous dating experiences outside of my beloved J. (Granted, J is such a perfect partner he kinda unintentionally spoils it for others!) I'm happy. 😊
