@golikehellmachi High school level is pretty generous, I think even most textbooks don't promote the "Dark Ages" myth at this point. Economists trying to do history are almost uniformly atrocious at it. But what they say matches popular misconceptions and biases so it gets wide reach.

@_futuredays @capybaroness It categorically is not, simply because Gaza is not a state. It's a non-sovereign territory under belligerent occupation. Some Palestinian nationalists certainly desire and ethno-state, but that's not dominant in their movement due to their experiences.
