I made these histrom Valentine’s Day meme cards last year and I’m bringing them back!! (You can check out my full list tomorrow 💕)
If you want one via snail mail (I’ve got several different quotes and artwork) just add your address here:
A favorite microtrope is during a fake relationship when one character is telling the obviously true (but supposedly fake) moment that they fell in love with the other for a story with a bunch of eyes on them and the other character is just like 👁️👄👁️
Did you know that in two weeks Stacy Reid is coming out with a histrom where a duke lived with wolves in a dark cave in Alaska for 10 years but now he’s returned and can scent his psychologist’s arousal and mood changes through DOORS???? Yeah me neither but I just read it 😵
What Bones did to Sweets… I think I actually stopped watching before that so I wouldn’t have to witness it. Never finished after watching it religiously
Everybody got that one moment where they went cold turkey and stopped watching a TV show because it was a moment so stupid that you couldn’t look at the shit anymore.
@sarahmaclean
“Christ alive! I don’t bed virgins. I bed wenches. Actresses. Widows. Tarts.”
Her eyes widened at that, but she lifted her chin in that haughty way he should have realized came from a lifetime of privilege.
“Well, now you’ve fucked a woman who outranks you. Congratulations.”
Sometimes I miss being a person with 30 Goodreads friends and no knowledge of the book community bc it is excruciatingly painful to know personally that an author is lovely but disliking their newest release 💀
Nothing hurts worse than when you’re reading a book and look at the amount of pgs or % left and you’re like oh GOOD so many left everything that needs to happen can happen and then the last 20% is an excerpt for another book & the one you want to still be reading is over too soon
Kiss scenes are so underrated?? I feel like some books have good sex scenes but the kiss scenes are so lacking. One sentence is not enough to build that sexual tension for me!
@allieiswriting
May I introduce to you 2 v wonderful time travel romances: Book 1 is a puritan witch who travels to the 1990s and the hero is a billionaire. Book 2 is their daughter in the 2020s traveling back to medieval times and he’s a knight (+ he almost burns her for being a witch💀)
Romantic Comedy being an option when it was easily a cash grab that couldn’t even mention a single romcom but ten million SNL memoirs in the acknowledgments??? I knew people said it was bad out here but like…
Too Many Beds
✨
India Holton has truly centered her entire romance brand around putting her characters in situations where there’s an abundance of beds or rooms at inns, and they HATE IT. Her characters want to bang so bad.
People defending her in the comments are saying people who read a lot are making it competitive … but THEY’RE the ones caring about numbers 😭 I have a job where I can listen to audiobooks during the work day and I prioritize time for reading idk what’s so hard to comprehend 😭
Authors need to start being VERY vocal about what tense they’re using bc I’ve been bamboozled AGAIN with 3rd present and now I have this arc I don’t want to read 😭
My fav thing that’s happened at Steamy Lit so far is someone asking if anyone knew the author that had carriage scene badge tags and I was like I do not but my best guess is Joanna Shupe bc she’s written the best one I’ve read and I was RIGHT 😎
My favorite thing India Holton does is write characters who desperately want only one bed and are disappointed when there’s an abundance of beds so they manipulate the facts so that only one bed is available
If you love low angst, absolutely SMITTEN from the meet heroes, and multiple sex scenes may I present my most recent personality trait book bc I SWEAR it was the cutest things I’ve read in so long 🧡
You NEED to read
@Diana_Quincy
’s latest.
Why? Oh I don't know be there are several excellent scenes where they're like I hate you *kiss* I detest you *kiss* ugh I hate that I don't detest kissing you *kiss*
@DFWSusie
Thank you for taking the time to make this thread!! 🩷 You perfectly summed up my frustration with being an ARC reviewer. I want authors to write how they want to write, but I’d also love to have a few sentences of a sample or something to let me know their writing style.
Me finding out that Pocket Books cancelled Kresley Cole’s Sutherland Brothers series before she could write her PIRATE SECOND CHANCE book three I’m on a rampage
People get angry when you don’t leave a review and just a star rating. People get angry when you don’t rate just review. People get angry when you leave a long review. People get angry when you don’t explain yourself.
This book reviewing thing is fun!

Do you want to try something else old school like Bridgerton? Look no further than Loretta Chase. She’s a master of headhopping and villains who think they’re so villainous except they’re being outvillained at literally every turn by the main characters.
This is a PSA that y’all need to add Hathor and the Prince by J.J. McAvoy to your TBRs. It gave me the same chills I had while watching Princess Diaries 2 for the first time. Absolutely perfect use of tropes.
Accidentally Kidnapping a Mafia Boss
✨
I haven’t read any mafia books but I have read books about accidentally kidnapping the previous book’s villain, a beautiful beastly bastard, and a tortured duke (in that order)
This was adorable and sexy and I just think everyone needs to read it 🫡
The hero can best be described as a cinnamon roll in the streets -> hot cross buns in the sheets 🔥
(It’s currently Read Now on NetGalley)

Oo I love the production it’s my favorite song on the album but this is beautiful too! Much prefer this to the bonus sweet nothing or YOYOK we got on the target exclusive bc they were so pointless lmao
This is the BIGGEST issue I have with dual POV m/f contemporary romances bc THIS EXACTLY THIS it reads like a wet dream and I get it I guess but I get the ick FAST they just doesn’t sound right
Okay I need to say something. I see this in both published books and fanfic a lot and it’s a pet peeve of mine: I get annoyed when I’m supposed to be reading something in a man’s POV, but the dude’s inner thoughts and/or dialogue come across as SUPER feminine.
@melon_reads
I lost my mind for a solid 6 hours I didn’t read the summary and was like EXCUSE ME WUT
The premise is also wild bc she’s gotta pretend to be a man because her father wanted an heir and he literally doesn’t know she’s a woman and she’s been alive for 23 years💀
My fav thing that’s happened at Steamy Lit so far is someone asking if anyone knew the author that had carriage scene badge tags and I was like I do not but my best guess is Joanna Shupe bc she’s written the best one I’ve read and I was RIGHT 😎
I love when I look at a book on Goodreads and all of my GR friends absolutely despised it…so comforting honestly like no chance in hell I’ll be reading
The book was great and there’s a thing I want to scream but I think it could be a spoiler??? Bc I was like 👀👀👀 the entire time b4 it was confirmed but it’s also like maybe not a spoiler bc for me it would be a selling point lol
I just saw someone recommend Dreams of a Dark Warrior as the first book to read in IAD for a new to paranormal reader and I’m actually sick to my stomach WHAT would possess them 😭
Nothing is funnier to me than
@TessaDare
writing a Girl Meets Duke series & making the hero of book three a working class man with the last name Duke LMAO
Besides the point, there's an alley scene that I frequently think about. Frequently. Read the whole series but esp this one!
It finally happened. Someone wants my thoughts on a book I read during the strike and marked it as “will say more when the strike ends.” I remember nothing about it 😭
It was really nice to see tinnitus (ear ringing) rep in Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas!! I’d love to see more besides the random “their ears started ringing” after a traumatic event bc I get stressed every time I hear that now lmao
Likes: when one MC is like “do you want me to hurt this villain for you?” and the other is like “yes please”
Dislikes: when one MC is like “do you want me to hurt this villain for you?” and the other is like “noooo that’s bad!”
