@AJA_Cortes
That those extra 40 pounds were the main source of my foot, knee, and hip pain and fatigue and emotional distress and lack of confidence and more.
Losing weight was like killing 50 birds with one stone.
I know someone who got married at 19 and was pregnant a month later.
Everyone was like "what were you guys thinking, you're so young!"
She told people she forgot her pill and it was an accident.
But this couple was so in love and openly ready for kids, I just know it was no
@cozykaters
I just cancelled visits. Say what is. And say what you need. I walked around topless and half asleep after my twins were born for many weeks and only my mom was a regular visitor. And I couldn't help it. That's what reality was. Don't feel bad about what your situation entails!
@histoftech
Magnesium glycinate. Got me off blood pressure pills I was taking for 5 years. It's now been 3 years and I'm still good. I was so stressed about my bp especially being so young and turns out I just needed magnesium. 🤦♀️
@AlpacaAurelius
We use fat for energy in the absence of carbs.
How many years of low carb does it take to ruin the thyroid and cause elevation of stress hormones?
Bc I'm on year 17 with no issues, yet.
All I've experienced is a reversal of numerous problems.
An 80-year-old woman told me we shouldn't eat when anxious or depressed. I asked her if this was standard advice from her time. "Absolutely", she said. It's hard to digest when we feel this way. She said to have a light soup or broth until we feel better.
I like this advice.
@Empty_America
Yes. Women need to learn to own their happiness and know he isn't impressed when we try to be superwoman. We are responsible for our own feelings and if we feel we can't do something, it's way better to just say so or not do it versus running around stressed and nagging.
@ScottAdamsSays
Just like freedom to drive a vehicle and drink alcohol *separately still leads to drunk driver deaths each year. People seem to deem it's worth it. We're still interested in what leads to the psychological snapping involved in these shootings and what leads to the drunk driving.
It's ok to be a housewife.
I know there are negative attitudes about this choice. Not so much from my own experience (bc people don't usually say things to your face) but because I grew up oldest of five with a SAHM. I heard what kid's parents had to say about it.
At the dentist today the hygienist said there was *nothing* to clean. (I've never heard this before.)
She did the polishing, floss, and then the dentist came in and said everything looked great including the X-rays. I was in and out in 10 minutes.
Months ago I switched to the

For many Americans it's like we don't have any healthcare (thanks to deductible and premium cost) or it's so poor in quality it doesn't matter.
The most frustrated people in this country are in a weird spot where they don't have a degree but don't qualify for welfare and have a decent job but don't make that much and can't afford healthcare deductibles and premiums. They usually do important work. So they feel resentful.
The USA is fumbling towards a socialized system, in the stupidest possible way.
We give loans for college then cancel them, resulting in sort-of-free college.
We constantly expand what used to be "poverty" health care programs, resulting in sort-of-universal coverage, etc.
@VivaldiVril
Women fall for a man's behavior and a photo is not enough to go on. We need to feel something expressed in his actions. Otherwise silly judgments randomly applied.
Maybe dating sites should have men upload videos. Could be of them talking or maybe just doing something or both.
Every year we get dressed up and visit the nicest hotel here for a Christmas event.
This year everyone seemed to be in jeans and t shirts and hoodies and kids sat in fancy chairs with their dirty sneakers up on the seat, scrolling on their phones.
What's happening?
What radicalized you?
Dying from high blood sugars as a kid and teenager with type 1 diabetes and doctors shrugging, offering me depression medication.
Opened my eyes to many limitations in your average adult.
@SolBrah
Difficult behavior may be one of those with massive ability to stick to principles or an assertive personality. Or those who need tons of exercise and become high energy adults.
I ask amazing people what they were said to be like as babies. They often say they were "difficult".
@realchloenicole
I never got one. My oldest are 14 and don't care to watch many movies or tv. They prefer reading. It worked out fine not giving them a tablet!
@Atlanticesque
A girl in high school said she hated her parents (boomers):
"Because they don't care if I do stupid things. They let me stay out late. They are "cool" with everything. I can't trust them to warn me or guide me towards a good life. I'm don't think they care."
@KKSLa11
It's so backwards. To do things in the ideal way, and to enter into the setup created for family making and to have people react like that.
I was married at 25, and had twins when I turned 26 and people gave me such a hard time.
I was like, I'm not even that young!? Sheesh!
I never once have told my kids to say please or thank you.
But they say these things often.
Husband and I said please and thank you to them and they naturally picked it up.
Much of the work of parenting is just doing what we want our children to do.
@fireflymagnolia
We got a surprise baby when I was older so there was no room in the house. She's done just fine in our room, without a nursery.
I hope you get the same lovely surprise.
But you're right. Babies don't need much. Mostly just mama :)
@Peaceful_Tips
I don't think sharing should be taught the way people tend to teach it (rudely and by force) but instead by modeling --sharing things with their child. Adults may not share phones but they share other things.

After two years of avoiding seed oils I went to the pool with my sister. I've always been the very curvy type with an extra few pounds.
My sister freaked out, "how do you have NO cellulite!??"
I used to have cellulite so...pretty cool change.
After 15 years with type 1 diabetes most develop retinopathy.
I developed it a few years ago in both eyes right after "covid" which spiked my sugars more than any sickness ever has.
Today I went to the Dr and after about 30 yrs of type 1 I no longer have any signs of
@Babygravy9
The comments under that post remind me of high school when a cool girl praises something mediocre and all the other girls suddenly pile on to do the same.
@verymoisturized
First time I went to the fair I had a really difficult time. The overall behavior and appearance...whoa...like the culture shock of going to a new country.
@Indian_Bronson
@mindstatex
True. Women need to start policing fellow women. From what I see, even in conservative circles, they don't. So men have very little to go on. There's no reciprocity.
This will lose me followers but being fat makes women a bit nuts and we cannot stand it.
We know that a part of our value is our inherent beauty and one of the quickest ways to detract from that beauty is to add 40 pounds to it.
Avg woman is 5'4, 170 lbs. 170-40 is 120.
And yet it's hard at this time in the US, not to be.
Women need help to achieve a healthy weight. The boost to every part of their lives and their children's lives would be incalculable.
@datepsych
The eyes! High intelligence = twinkling eyes that seem lively (even in a sad person) and ready to burst with something coming from behind. It's impossible to fake.
@kenthecowboy_
Yes we have had an anti-social takeover.
People have lost connection to the old ways.
I have cassette tapes of old family/friend gatherings from the 1980s. They'd get a blank tape and hit record. Then mail my family, who had immigrated to America, the tapes.
They're amazing.
I'd choose being a housewife and SAHM all over again.
It may not be the best decision for others but if you are being called to it, don't ignore that. I think it means you would rise to the challenge and thrive.
And if courage is what you seek, remember children grow up fast.
Small talk is a way humans build up trust before divulging personal and vulnerable information to others. It's up to an individual's discretion, but not something to hate once you understand the purpose.
i hate small talk. i want to hear about the street you grew up on, your first childhood pet, the name of your third grade teacher, your birthday, your mother’s maiden name,
Last night I found our kids at the dinner table chatting and sipping on homemade hot cocoa. The only light was candlelight and Bach was playing in the background.
This was their answer to me and my husband's suggestion for no screens past sunset.
@Grimhood
"but my grandpa was healthy and ate this way"
Yeah but you aren't him and you're in a different environment. Damage has accumulated and we all have to acknowledge and deal with this reality as best we can.
Molar pregnancy diagnosed this morning and I was immediately sent into surgery.
All went well thank goodness but I'm admittedly heartbroken.
And I am probably not going to be able to continue to nurse my 13 month old.
Still, I am so grateful to be alive and well.
@AlpacaAurelius
As with all matters in life, it's all about the details. This is only true (as far as I know so far) for extended fasting and keto with low protein. If you do intermittent fasting or high protein keto, carry on like me, with excellent female hormone functioning. 🥱
@missmulrooney
Even in the early 90s, my mom got disapproving looks from people bc she had 4 kids under 7 at the grocery store with her. And we were well behaved.
I guess with more childless than ever before that sentiment has only increased.
@PetiteNicoco
I'm Latin and I navigate time just fine lol
Whoever wrote this doesn't realize they are making the case for people with a different culture to just avoid them completely. Not worth hanging out with people who would put their responsibilities on you. Avoid these people.
@SWENGDAD
If good, desirable men stop rewarding bad female behavior, and start rewarding good female behavior, most women would shape up overnight in response.
My boomer neighbors say they should move to be closer to grandchildren but won't because their cat is happy in this neighborhood.
So now I'm thinking it's best they do stay put here. Spare the children and grandchildren, who don't deserve to be second to a cat.
@Empty_America
Right after getting married, hubby and I got pregnant at 24/25 with twins and people gave us a hard time. "But you're so young!" "You've barely lived!" "You should have spent a few years enjoying married life first!"
They messed with our heads. I still resent them for it.
@FischerKing64
I was blasting music in a parking lot once and a young guy came over and said, "I have never heard this, is it new? I love it...sounds like really good movie music..."
I was like "oh you sweet summer child", popped the cd out and gave it to him.
It was Wagner.
@celestialbe1ng
I feel great and have been low carb for nearly 20 years.
I have more energy than most people younger than me.
I do it for medical reasons so I don't recommend it randomly to people but it works well for me.
I’ve written about this. Do you know how many teenage girls/young women think babies are “gross” and an “inconvenience” at best? It’s been put into their heads via school, tv, music, movies, and their own parents.
@Philosophi_Cat
I don't know but it reminds me of the time my little sister was attacked by a police officer neighbor's Rottweiler and he walked, instead of ran over to help. In the meantime, my little brother sprinted over and kicked the dog in the face. It's like they can't accept reality.
So when I decided there was NO way I could leave my twin babies at a daycare and became a housewife, I had lots of negative feelings. Like I had thrown away my self respect and frankly, my brain.
But over time, I realized it was the best choice for me and my family.
@RichyCraven
I've been saying it.
Like recent grads on their first day. Young women with super long nails (how can they type and handle little pills?) and bunny slippers. Pop music playing.
It used to be an impressive and pleasant place with responsible middle aged men and women in charge.
@FatEmperor
Honestly Ivor, this is the level of sentiment a normal and healthy person has about these things. Females are going to naturally want to be softer as is our nature but this post is accurate bc this is all quite serious. I thank you for acknowledging the reality all this time.
@OldHollowTree
I have so many nice childhood Halloween memories bc of what you describe here.
Trunk or treats are among the saddest things smart people have ever cooked up.
@Empty_America
We bought a 100k home and people constantly say we "got lucky". But the house was on the market for 9 months before we bought it! Realtor said plenty of men wanted to buy it but their wives took one look and said it wasn't nearly nice enough.
Met a grandma on the playground with her two little grandchildren.
Their parents recently died in a car accident and she is raising them.
She said "I can do it! I must!" And at 67 yrs old she spent the next hour running around with great enthusiasm.
@JacobAShell
@Empty_America
Public school in the late 80s and early 90s was already training kids to operate against truth before face. Being "nice" was a major value instilled in us.
Dead Poets’ Society isn’t the movie you thought it was—it is in fact a brutal critique of boomer liberalism and a cautionary tale against the perils of hippie rebellion. Mr. Keating is its villain; the other teachers and Neil’s father are the would-be heroes of this tragedy.
I was just thinking about how much I've learned by having a husband in construction.
There aren't any women where he works (aside from payroll officer) bc no women apply to work in concrete construction.
(Ok I tried when I was 20 bc I was miserable at work and imagined my
The more women in an industry, the more (and the faster) "woke" overtakes it.
The first two were Education and Publishing.
72% and 74% women, respectively.
The least woke is 89% men. It's one that *cannot* function with your typical DEI incompetence.
Guess which.

Being healthy does offer Covid protection though. Those making fun should note how many fat people with metabolic dysfunction have had severe covid. It’s way more than the thin and healthy.
My neighbor is a fancy woman in her late 70s.
She is always in a flattering outfit, put together, full make up, hair, and all that. It's been 10 yrs I've known her.
She recently remarked that my family and I are always well dressed and look like people in photos from a
I started reading and listening to people talk about this topic alongside data revealing how favorable it is for most families to have a SAHM.
I learned that many men, if the financial situation allowed, wanted a SAHM for their children.
And so many women wanted that, too.
@OldHollowTree
My husband works with a man who is not even 5 ft tall. And he's married and has several children. He lifts weights and rides a motorcycle. And can take jokes about his height. Seems like he's winning.
@Mangan150
Did you know some people who feed their type 1 diabetic children low carb, high protein diets get child protective services called on them by doctors? It’s clown world.
@VivaldiVril
I find it easier to live knowing we all have our own struggles. What do people with both a son and daughter tell themselves? I have each and it's easy to see how challenges are both different yet heavy. I've raised them to appreciate this about each other. Makes life easier.

I healed numerous long term ailments and can best manage my longtime type 1 diabetes on a meat based diet (A1c under 5%).
I also just had a baby, am about to turn 39 next week, am nursing on demand, and have energy all the time despite little sleep. :)
