Re the idea that Gaeilge would no longer be compulsory...the outcome we should strive for, in my humble opinion, is more fluent speakers of Gaeilge.
Therefore, change the curriculum.
“Spoken Gaeilge”, compulsory.
“Irish Language Literature”, optional.
There’s been a lot of talk about culture on this island over the last week.
I think it’s fair to say that Hurling is the perfect expression of our culture.
Wonderful.

My kids’ home-schooling experience isn’t a million miles from my own primary schooling...
Dealing with a mildly hungover teacher, who’s patience was lost weeks ago, shouting at them as Gaeilge.

The anglicisation of Irish place names is an interesting thing.
I came across the most magnificent one today in Galway.
Currywongaun - Cor Uí Mhongáin.
Glórmhór.
The word “narrative” should be banned. It’s the new “going forward”.
People everywhere talking nonsense about “narratives”.
It must be the most overused word of 2018. Terrible.
Two conversations that were a joy to listen to this week-
Jamie Wall and Michael Duignan on hurling; and Oisín McConville and Andy Moran on football, facilitated by

talking about AJ Liebling’s book The Sweet Science, and weaving his own father’s boxing career through it, is an absolute joy.
The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson flew into Dublin to hold talks with the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar this week, but his body language gave away a lot! Joining us now is body language expert Eoghan McDermott, Managing Director of the Communications Clinic

So delighted to launch our brand new podcast with The Communications Clinic. Kicking off our first podcast with How to Write a Speech with Cody Keenan, chief speechwriter for Barack Obama. Amazingly insightful man to chat to, with so much brilliant advice to share.

Reviewing this morning’s papers on

at 915. It’s pretty much Covid and pubs, Covid and Christmas, Covid and RTÉ, Covid and Vaccines. And some more Covid.

What a great quote.
“They love us unconditionally, and ignore all our flaws and faults. They only see the best possible version of us”.
Getting a dog was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
And this lovely piece describes their love brilliantly.
Remember when the state sent us all iodine tablets in preparation for the apocalypse?
Given that face masks are hugely effective in slowing the spread of Covid, what about sending every household a set of face masks?
Waiting to review the papers on
@IrelandAMVMTV
from the comfort of my kitchen.
Covid 19 continues to dominate, specifically PPE is like god dust, when will the schools open, and the impact on the pub industry.
I’m falling off the couch with enthusiasm.
Great to chat with

about the not so great Covid 19 numbers in Dublin, and the additional restrictions due to be announced later today.
An interesting few days working in Sarajevo with
@SAGE_GEquality
, who are doing great work to improve gender equality in higher education and research.
As an aside, Sarajevo is a super city.
So it seems, for some, to be a patriot in 2020 and to protect fellow citizens, you
a) wear a tricolour rather than a mask
b) attack those who are trying to ensure that fact is heard over fiction, and
c) call anybody who disagrees with you a “paedo”.
Disturbing and unsettling.

Stories cover the easing of restrictions, Covid19’s catastrophic impact on the economy, and government formation.

Our focus is Covid, particularly localised lockdowns and outbreaks in meat factories.
This is brilliant, especially if you’re interested in negotiation, politics, and international conflicts.
Jonathan Powell (Chief British Negotiator, and key to the GFA) gives us his insights into negotiating.

I know I’m very very very late to the

Enjoyed this book. It looks at how the world of work has morphed from one of steady career progression and security to a dystopia made of bean bags and personality tests.
