Disguise training in the form of play You can teach & program a bunch of squats so all athletes squat in a specific manner that you deem acceptable... OR you can design play that allows athletes to experience squat positions in a much more diverse, robust & authentic manner.

This receiver is arguably the fastest in the NFL, running a 4.27 40y at last years combine. The DB is considered slow because he ran a 4.56 40y. So in theory, the WR should be able to run by the DB w/ relative ease. Buts that’s where context and complexity come into play. 1/5

We think it’s a must to add some sort of athlete interaction during warm-ups. Sports require athletes to interact with others, both opponents and teammates, so giving athletes opportunities during warm-up periods to become sensitive and explore these interactions is a must

Not sure who needs to hear this, but perception-action coupling does NOT mean coupling mvmt to just any random information such as a coach pointing his finger, an audible signal, a flashing light, etc. The information must be contextual to acquire more functional mvmt solutions.

Bernstein (67') stated, 'Dexterity is exercisable: One can develop it and induce its considerable growth.' We also like to take this (and ideas of repetition w/o repetition) approach into the weight room. One way to do this is varying the tempo of a movement within each set.

A learner-centered approach is king 👑 Especially, with today’s athletes. Give them some autonomy (within reason) and what you will see in results will be monumental. Purposeful variability is highly valuable. If you’re aren’t your going to get left behind... 💨 Warm-up #Squats

We believe that skilled movement behavior is underpinned by developing relevant perception-action couplings. When watching your athletes, make sure to ask yourself if they behave like they would in sport. If not, then you need to change your practice activities.
