Alright, I understand the discourse on Flagg, but I am telling you that this Evans kid is special. He is the type of player we were missing this year. Our better teams have a long slasher that can shot and create his own shot. He can create space and will be a nightmare on D.
LOL... Yall are crazy to think Proctor should be gone. Kid had a different roll and IS NOT a type A scorer. That is not his game. He EXCELLENT on defense and is a great ball handler that can make things happen. Last year, he had scorers around him. This year, he had McCain.
Is it bad, that I still can't bring myself to watch games from '99. I can watch any game from any other season but '99 is just too painful to relive on any level. This might have been the most complete team to not win a title outside of '91 UNLV, '83 Houston, and '82 Georgetown.
The comments below make me sometimes sad to be a Duke fan. What happened to our fanbase. The kid was a part of our program and we can, at least, wish him the best.
I saw some funny discourse on Khaman Maluach judging him because he did not score much in the game last night. Guys, that is not his game right now and he knows it. He said in interviews that he blocks shots, gets boards and blocks. Isn't that what we need in the paint this year?
I will probably get killed for this but I will go ahead and say it. The 2017-2018 squad with Marvin, Wendell, and company was stronger than the next squad with Zion, Cam, and RJ and would have won the title had it not be for...
Well... You know...
Guards: Proctor, James, Foster, Harris
Forwards: Flagg, Brown, Evans, Gillis, Knueppel
Centers: Maluach, Ngongba
Now THAT is a squad. All three added pieces via the portal are entirely complimentary to the style Duke will try to play next season. I’d expect one more bench add.
We tell players to play for the name on the front, not the back. Some Duke fans need to support the name on the front and get behind the name in the back. You guys that are killing these kids when they played so hard this year, need to get a life. Grow up.
#TheBrotherhood
Here are 2 reasons why our defense in the paint will be HIGHLY improved next year. Mulauch and Ngongba are long and they will contest, deflect, and alter shots. We will be able to overplay passing lanes and dare teams to beat us off the dribble. Defense will be GOOD!!!
33 Min/3-10 FG/1-5 (prayer) 3-pt, 3 rb, 3 ast, 2 stls, 6 TO
This kid might be the breakout star in all of College Basketball this year. Said it here first.
Man... I am looking at the 2011 squad right now against Michigan State (with Draymond Green) and it hurts my soul when I think about "what if" Kyrie didn't get injured. The Starting Lineup:
G Kyrie Irving
G Nolan Smith
F Kyle Singler
F Ryan Kelly
C Mason Plumlee
He is a really good player with a LOT of size at the PG position. He has very good post presence and also comes off the pick very well and can hit shots. He recognizes defenses and doubles in all areas of the court and makes good passes. He would be really good pickup.
I am watching the Duke vs USC game from the 2001 NCAA tourney and I am guilty of forgetting how good that Blue Devil team was... My God...
Jay Williams
Mike Dunleavy
Nate James
Chris Duhan
Shane Battier
Carlos Boozer...
A LOT OF LENGTH overall and amazing speed...
Ahead of any potentially announcement today, any slander of Jeremy Roach will result in an auto block. This kid gave 4 great years to Duke and is getting his degree. It’s unfair to ask any more out of him. Reminder, without the stupid “covid year” he would already be out of
So...yesterday was interesting. I hope the
#CFBPlayoffs
committee goes with:
1. LSU
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. Oklahoma
Right now, everyone knows that LSU has earned that seeding
For those of you that were not around when he played at Duke, you missed a legend. He was a menace to opposing teams. Even Shaq gave Christian his due and marveled at his skill in the college game. Say what you want, but there are not many with the credentials that Laettner has.
I keep telling you guys that Evans is a killer and will be a problem to guard out on the perimeter or off the dribble. His 3-pt game in to the mid-range will make him special. Bigger teams with large inside presence will be nullified because he can just pull up and drain shots.
Lively is such a good pro. He ended up in the right situation on the right team and is now eating. Watching kids like him and Kyrie make me super happy to be a fan of the game.
Yep... and the fact that we get mediocre teams' best shot. It's been a constant for years. People just raise their play when they see "Duke" on the opposing side.
He would be a good addition. 6’8” big that can bring a change of pace from Mulauch and Ngongba and can bang and be physical on the boards. Get him if we can…
Get used to it. This team is going to be significantly stronger on D. At any point, you could have 4-5 lengthy and long athletic personnel altering offensive game plans. Coop is special but people are sleeping on Isaiah. He should have gotten more burn.
New Madden college football mode is a real step toward eventual return of NCAA Football.
"People familiar with the discussions view EA’s partnership with the schools as a potential first step in a broader relationship."

I am going to keep saying it. This team is not as loaded with OAD talent that blows people away, i.e. Zion and RJ, but this team is as balanced as any Duke team I've seen recently. IF this team is consistent in defense, the rest will fall into place, and will be a tough out.
NEWS: Stanford transfer Brandon Angel will visit Duke this weekend.
Angel is a 6’8 forward who averaged 13 pts, 4.7 rebs and shot 44% from three last season.
One year of eligibility remaining

Thank you Jeremy Roach 💙
One of my favorite players to ever play at Duke. This one hurts. Gave it his all for 4 years and had some special moments as a Dukie. My favorite being the clutch 3pt make vs MSU 😈
Man is made for March. All love,
@Jeremyroach10
🤝🏽
Ill get killed for this but I always thought he was the best of the Hurley brothers from and X's and O's perspective but his brother ended up in a better position and destination for players.
Bobby has a squad and I am interested in what he is cooking out there.
Bobby Hurley now has the No. 3 recruiting class in the COUNTRY at Arizona State 🔱
5🌟 Jayden Quaintance
5🌟 Joson Sanon
4🌟 Amier Ali
4🌟 Sammie Yeanay
3🌟 Bo Aldridge
Two Five Star pickups in the last month 🤯
Smitty will always be the man. He still doesn't get the full credit he deserves for his developmental arc at Duke. I saw the BEST Countdown to Craziness matchup with he and Kyrie putting on a show in 2011 and he will always be one of my favorites all-time.
MUCH RESPECT.
Dedication and Loyalty. These 2 are going to be big this upcoming for Duke. Caleb is that calm presence we will need this year. If he adds a little aggressiveness to his game, he will be dangerous.
To keep my mind off of this nasty UConn business..lol...I had a thought...
Not saying a number but I think Kara Lawson could get a national title or 2 here at Duke. She stayed for a reason and knows what she is building. She is an AMAZING basketball mind. Mark my words people.
After all the doom and gloom from some Duke fans, looks like the roster is pretty deep and talented with a lot of characteristics and intangibles that we did not possess over the last season. .
Let's go. Didn't get a chance to post about this but this kid is a good shooter and the biggest thing, that doesn't show up on the stat sheet, is that he has a mean streak and competitive drive that we will need along with his experience.
"It's been a really tough time for me and my family ... I lost a piece of my heart, but you guys keep me going."
Cassius Winston thanks the MSU crowd for the first time since his brother's death 🙏
Can't argue with this. There is NO movement. With the personnel we have, there should always be some movement around the perimeter with someone cutting to the basket. If the offense doesn't get fixed, this will be an ongoing issue this year. Sad to say it.
Maybe it’s just me. I love the fact Duke isn’t made up of a roster containing 25 year old guys at their third school. The fact that Duke has admission standards they won’t relax for a transfer is admirable.
Duke fans, don't be surprised if UNC plays the game of their life against us. Remember, this is the rivalry and even in down years, we could see an amazing game. My prediction is that one of the games will be closer than expected.
Pulled a random game from my library to watch today and it is going to be Duke v Baylor in the 2010 NCAA tourney. People forget how this team was NOT a favorite to win this title. I am going to enjoy this one. Here we go with the law firm of Singler, Scheyer, and Smith.

Unpopular opinion but looking back at last year, the big weakness was shooting. If we had 2 CONSISTENT marksmen, we win the title easily. We could have that balance this year. Even though we dont have the overall athleticism from a year ago, we are a threat because of BALANCE!!!
To the ones that are lacking to do their research on the '92 Dream Team, pull some videos and numbers.
#ChristianLaettner
was one of the greatest College basketball players of all time and Shaq said himself that he was a problem. He deserved to be on the Olympic squad PERIOD.
Now Jayson Tatum didn't seem as happy as his teammates about Jaylen Brown winning the ECF mvp. 🤦🏾♂️
WHAAAAT ?????????
They try so hard to make it seem like they can't stand each other.
There goes the "feels" again. It's like that breakup in HS when you think you are over that ex, and then you see them again and feel like crying...lol

#Duke
Basketball season. It was quite a ride gents! Thank you for everything!

My take on the
#BakerMayfield
situation is that the world is soft. I am from the last generation of old school and
#Kansas
brought it on themselves. Baker is a competitor and the media and general culture is telling him to calm down. Lets get real.this is football
Look at all of the options created by simultaneous movement. I hope that Scheyer throws some wrinkles into the offensive sets. Teams like UConn, Houston, Gonzaga, and Kansas all ate with high scoring avg. throughout the season because of constant motion sets.
Circle Motion Offense
Just watch the defense... they are all moving, communicating, miscommunicating, running into each other
That's what good offense should do
Normally, seeding is important, but I don't think it is a big advantage this year. College basketball has no dominant team & parity will reign supreme. Duke has plenty of opportunity to play into a
#1
seed. If they don't get it, I still feel comfortable they can beat anyone.
I had a weird question for myself but I answered it.
Question: What was the most enjoyable non-Duke college basketball game ever?
Mine has to be Wisconsin over UK in 2015. For some reason, I thoroughly enjoyed the slice of humble pie dealt to Kentucky by the Badgers.
Say what you want about Cam but his stroke is beautiful. His body is completely squared his release and follow through are perfect. He will be a good pro especially considering his length and ability to play D
Duke’s Cam Reddish here at UIC working out. The potential top-5 pick has one of the smoothest pull ups in the draft. Measured really well today as well. Figures to have a strong Pre-Draft process.
He had Flip also but the beauty of Proctor's game is facilitating. I can't believe so many people are missing that. It's about personnel and what he had around him was inconsistent which made him inconsistent.
@DukeManiacs
This team is more importantly built with people who have a killer instinct. Something we've lacked in recent years. I hope this is the trait we index in moving forward. We need this mentality to get
#SI6HTS
In the offseason, I would like to see Scheyer focus on acquiring some depth from the portal for the upcoming squad. We don't need bodies just sitting or being the ones that make people anxious. We nee dependable depth that can give more than 5-10 quality minutes.
Going back to watch the MSU game again along with tonight's game against VaTech. There is a lot to unpack and the team is starting to mold. I am liking what I am seeing right now with a lot of the moving pieces.
So... I guess that there is a new conversation to be had. Kid looked very poised and controlled out there. Looks like the game slowed down for him tonight and that is a VERY good thing. Dude has a beautiful mid-range game along with a stroke from the perimeter.
RJ Barrett in the six games that Zion Williamson missed due to injury: 26.1 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 5.1 APG. Least talked about first-team All-American in college basketball history?
