How in a nation so large are these the two choices for President? I get the funding thing etc but really, neither party could find someone half the age who isn't a convicted criminal or someone with age related health issues which makes them unfit for office?
Menstruation & toilet access
TMI I know but I've stayed out of this till now. Till I've just made the mistake of being comfortable & not hyper aware of my menstruating body. Yes this makes me anxious & feel nervous to post but that's the point!

Yesterday my very old but working machine seemed to finally give up the ghost. I'd let my landlords (local) know and they had said one of them would drop by today while I was at work. I came home to a new washing machine in place and it all sorted! 🤩 I'm so fortunate!
Not the best photos but my little haven is feeling pretty homey 😍 5 years ago I couldn't work, lived with my parents and was on benefits because of my health. Today I'm living alone, healthy and financially independent. Feeling pretty blessed right now 🎉🥂🏡
This is the face of someone who has secured a full-time maternity post for August in the local school I've loved being a part of throughout this year! There's been lots of 'not quites' this year but many amazing experiences to build my practice & confidence! Here's to August! 🥂
@suladoyle
No it's a trans person unpacking their lived experience & that includes this which was their view about their body. It's not saying all girls should hate their bodies, it's saying this author/ illustrator did. Which would be clear if you gave context with the title.
@JayHulmePoet
The Terry Pratchett, Sam Vimes theory of socioeconomic unfairness "The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money." Men at arms.
When you wake up in the middle of the night and the light looks weirdly bright round the curtains. I know they forecast snow but didn't think they meant THIS much! 3.30am no filters or night mode 😯

I'm not a fan of photos of myself 😅 but feeling good about myself tonight, despite the increasing greys. So many times I get the double check of 'just for one?' when eating alone. If I get to spend my life with one person then I could do worse than myself 😄
#SingleAndHappy
Is it just me using Google lens to find out where Becky Adlington has bought her dresses from? So far my favourites have both been
@Bodenclothing
ones. Not sure I could carry off tonight's but love the style (and it has pockets) would love them to do it another colour/pattern.
Let's just say my day has been good 🤩 my school are keeping me!!! Scallops with linguine and a well earned glass of my favourite strawberry bubbles tonight! 🍾 Thank you to all my encouragers 🥰

I've been going back & forth over what I was doing tonight. Realised the anxiety wasn't FOMO it was feeling that I should go out because you're expected to be with people on
#Hogmanay
So I'm going to end/start the year grateful for the peace of my own home (with cheese & wine)
I love watching snow fall so heavily...when

have already said schools, nurseries, the college- basically anything they control is closed tomorrow! A lot less stressful for everyone! From the spare room window you can't see it but you can hear it! MET 🟠 warning in place🥶
Never forgotten and may we never see it repeated in Scotland 😢 💔 I was P5. My brother was P1. It changed us all, it changed our schools 🏴

For those reading posts about people getting jobs & feeling 😔 I had an interview today & didn't get the job. In the last 3 years I've had 1 successful job interview & the rest has been supply. Its not always easy but I'm still fed, sheltered, clothed & booked📚!

This is not a sympathy seeking post just a shout out! For anyone else out there who is sitting alone, not eating an Easter feast complete with bake-off worthy creations, and who may have not got dressed today...it's not just you!
SM is great but wow do I feel an underachiever 🙂
After a couple of weeks ill & away, it's back! The Sunday cheeseboard of positivity! Manchego, Gouda and a soft blue. Ready to face the new term (I think) 🧀🍷
A lovely moment today. I had a group of children reading with me & their book has dragons in it. A pupil who struggles with reading & has a short focus period, loves dragons. They sidled up & asked if they could listen. Obv I said yes, someone shared their book & we began 🤩1/2
I had my haircut much shorter this week. The positives are my curls sit nicer & it's less work. It also tucks under a hat. The negative, I look permanently windswept 😄
January is depressing. Pretty fairy lights make me happy. I'd like to start a petition for everyone to keep their Christmas lights (not trees or other decs, just lights) up until the end of January.
Who's with me?
These are books based on
@SWLiteracy
& at one point this child asked if they could read a bit- I'll add here that pupils in this group are wonderful & so supportive of others. They sat & listened carefully as this pupil sounded out & read 2 sentences & this pupil was so proud 🙌
A friend was checking I was okay for food while ISO. I said yes had everything I needed but expressed sadnesses I didn't have nice cheese in. This evening friend drops off cheese, prosciutto, pate and grapes 🥰 now that is a very good friend 🤩🧀

💔💔There's so much I could & want to say but honestly I can't get past the fact that a young Scottish teen went to school today & has not made it home.
My sincere condolences to the family & all who loved him.
There are many very serious questions to be answered around this!
I was meant to be in Edinburgh for a friend's wedding today. Decided post-covid energy levels weren't there to manage it 😔 but had the outfit so got dressed up & lovely to watch online 🥰 Glad to have played a small part in their day by creating the brides hair vine. 🥂
Tonight I celebrated a year that has tested me. For various reasons from my own health to trying to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners (who I absolutely loved) this year was intense & I came close to quitting so someone else could do a better job. But we made it 🙌🏻
It happened! The ultimate classic in teacher stories came true today! A child in my class came in (rather worried & upset) THE DOG (puppy) ATE MY HOMEWORK. I will add the distraught child was telling me straight away so she could get a new sheet & still complete the homework 🥰
Sometimes you're hit by how fortunate you are. I'm warm, safe, healthy, fed, loved. I have more than I need and get to do what I love.

I see some headteacher in the south of England has broken into the Christmas cake brandy early 🙄 if you know you know and if you don't be grateful & leave it at that
Snow 🌨️ is continuing to delay my flight, it's still in Aberdeen 😕
I'm travelling south with a family friend (we're giving her a lift back to her mum's from airport) and her uncle has just dropped off bacon sandwiches for us 🥰 I do love the

So the picnic basket is now a class calm box! Time to explore & follow the instructions on using the resources will be built in over the next few weeks. Turn the timer then breathing activity, choose a calm activity, think about why you are using the box, chat with Miss P.
Happy Bank Holiday weekend! Made it home to enjoy happy hour in the sunshine at the front of my house! It's a day when you can just wear a t-shirt in Orkney today 😎🌞
I'm not even going to pretend to make excuses. I've 4 working days to go and I've a friend visiting next week so I've been staying late this week to pack up my room and shift stuff to the cupboard in my new room. This is necessary 😄
Curled up with the last of the food in the fridge and got a negative LFT so all set to be at the airport in 2 hours and be home with my parents in 5 hours! (I'm classing this as reducing food waste)
I'll be honest, I'm mainly having a quiet birthday because I want to spend the afternoon watching rugby 😄🏉 I'm hoping for the

Tonight's dinner is this very nice beef bourguignon.
While I have your attention, I'm fortunate enough to sit in warm & peace with this meal- half of Gaza's remaining population is starving!
I bet less ppl will like this than normally like my food photos- I hear your silence 😔

this year has highlighted how much

that no matter who you are, where you're from, how many obstacles the world & our society throws up, that with equitable opportunities and some understanding everyone can achieve dreams and more!
I heard back from an interview today and didn't get the job. On paper it was brillaint and professionally and personally it was a great opportunity for me to pursue. However the process and time since the interview made me realise that actually my heart is in Orkney for now ❤
@TTRadioOfficial
If so then a lot of schools are going to have to find money for a second device for staff who are forced to use their own personal devices for multi-factor authentication for access to everyday workload. Yes I should be allowed to have my phone in my room though, not used though.
Right let's relax and rest ahead of interview day tomorrow! Whether I get a permanent post or not I know I can go in and share who I am and what I bring to the schools

I'm not even pretending this is any but OTT indulgence but hey I'm celebrating the beginning of the break & not preparing for another week. Grilled peaches & soft cheese, baked figs & stilton, Comte & Gouda for cheese offerings.
Apologies but I've a few 🙈 photos from today. Someone I met walking said today was 'good for the soul' here and I have to agree 🤩 in about 2 hours the weather and sky did this to pretty much the same view 😍
No where & no life is perfect but nights like this make me very grateful for where I am now. Almost 5 years since I saw an advert for teaching jobs in

& thought 'why not'. Currently stood on my doorstep listening to the quiet & I can just hear the sea in the bay 😍
It's easy to say 'it's a holiday and I need downtime', or to say that this is 'not my area of expertise' and let other voices speak. But this is not just important for part of our society, its for all! The

needs to be rejected and its finding fought by all of us.
An innocence was lost to all our schools that day. My little brother was P1 in a Scottish school, as young as I was I felt it change. Changes were made, and thankfully we have not seen another tragedy like this since then. May we never forget

My parents arrive on Wednesday for a 10 day stay to look after me while I recover from laparoscopy on Friday. There's nothing like this prospect to suddenly mean I have a massive clear out/tidy up and clean 😂

Pupil in my class this week very quickly became upset, thought I knew what it was but we gave time & space. When they were able asked what had made them upset...opposite of what I thought 🤷🏻♀️ if I'd pushed to 'solve' earlier I'd have made it worse for them. Instead calm & solution
Scottish school staff returning today, we've got this! I hope the year ahead has more positives than negatives, that your work brings more joy than stress and that your choice of beverage runs in a steady stream (and is sometimes even finished hot) 🏴 ➡️🏫

I had a rather impressive mental wobble earlier and bailed out of going to a friend's event as I couldn't people. Ended up on the bus to
#Stromness
and oh I needed this walk.
Rounded off the day with a nicely marinated steak. We live our lives our own way and honestly I enjoy my life and I'm glad of the choices that have brought me to where I am now.
I don't think I can ask for much more on my birthday.
I am so fortunate compared to so many globally.

I'm going with bone dry grass and trees that haven't seen rain in ages combined with a heatwave made more extreme than ever before because of the effects of a

which is only going to get worse going forward...but that's just me 🙄🤔
A very kind friend and neighbour has been keeping me stocked up on shopping while I'm ill. Brought shopping round today and her youngest came clutching this which he had insisted they buy for me to make me feel better ❤🥰 I'm very blessed to be so cared for.
There you go
@Sharifahlee4
hopefully a feast for your eyes 🥰
I know I go all out for these but on a serious note, Sunday can be a hard food day for me, Sunday dinner for one is the meal I find lonely, and other options just highlight that, so I don't cook I do cheese! I❤🧀!
So yes we did do a cheese platter tonight, there were 3 of us to eat this. Goats cheese, 2 sheep's cheeses a soft wigmore & a semi-hard ossau-iraty, & green thunder from Snowdonia cheese company. Nice to share Sunday cheese & crackers with my parents again!
Got the announcement at the end of the day that we'll be being inspected, full HMIE inspection (we've known it was coming). Of course being Scotland we've got 3 weeks before they come & they'll be here a full week.
It will be interesting to hear their feedback.
Just to say it looks like I got labyrinthitis an inner ear infection causing me to lose my balance and the world is spinning more than it should be. This is being written by audio to text thanks accessible Tech. So I wont be around for a bit. Thanks to those who have checked in.
In the interests of

I'm happy with what I've got done before tomorrow but no titles on displays, colouring pencils not sorted onto tables & jotters still need labelled. I prioritised my class library & making sure things were pupil level instead today. It will do.

Thank you to all the lawyers, staff, charities and the

Yes Alex had the less dramatic made to measure but better overall over the 3 I think. Yes Suzy is dramatic but honestly I'm now a bit fed up with her still being in when she keeps not finishing garments. Slightly fed up this week!
