Was told once by a former NHL General Manager that Ryan Suter is one of the dirtiest players in the league … but he’s not known as that because he does his business behind the play.
For the handful of guys who are intolerant of initiatives like this, so many are true allies.
Jon Merrill and his wife Jess are hosting 30+ LGBTQ+ folks tonight and having a postgame meet and greet, just like they did last season.
Still, a disappointing development in 2023.
#mnwild
players, who were supposed to wear Pride jerseys tonight and did so last season, are not wearing them in warmups.
Told it was an organizational decision
The Wild have several other Pride initiatives they are doing>>>
To make this kind of accusation on national television is completely out of bounds and downright reckless. I hope others in hockey media will be quick to call this out for exactly what it is: complete and utter BS, nudging awfully close to slander. Absolutely preposterous.
I don’t know if I just heard Anson Carter correctly when he called out
@RussoHockey
just now on the TNT postgame. “Not this month?”
What’s the implication there? Because if it is what I think it is … that’s quite the accusation.
Today was my last day with
#mnwild
. I wanted to thank everyone who has read my work the last 6 seasons (11 going back to the NHL dot com days). Telling this team’s story has been an honor.
Don’t know what is next, but I’m open to new ideas if anyone has any suggestions. Be well.
I have three tickets to the
#mnwild
game for Pride Night on Tuesday. I would like to give them to anyone in the LGBTQ+ community that has always wanted to go, but maybe hasn’t felt safe or welcome at a pro hockey game before.
DM me if interested. Honor system here, folks. 🏳️🌈
Media just got done chatting with former
#mnwild
winger Marian Gaborik. Gabby came in hot, right from the start.
Looking at
@RussoHockey
, he said: "Russo, you're still here? You gonna write something positive for once?"
One year ago, I weighed 475 pounds. Today I walked 18 holes and broke 100 for the first time in my life.
Thanks
@LoggersTrail
for a great day! Fall golf conditions at the trail are fantastic.
#HornsUp
Brock Faber has been in the NHL for a grand total of about 12 minutes and he’s already one of
#mnwild
’s best six defensemen. I understand there’s a veteran pecking order, but if it’s me, he’s in the lineup Game 1.
Sat in the stands for the game last night. I’ve been to many, many games at Xcel Energy Center over the past decade, regular season and playoffs. Last night was the loudest, best atmosphere I’ve ever experienced in that place and it wasn’t close.
I’m old enough to remember when
#mnwild
beat the Washington Capitals earlier this month with NINE regulars out of the lineup. Bad enough this take went unchallenged on television a couple nights ago, but then to double down? Yikes.
These
@mnwild
fans (& reporters😂)talking about their depth after beating an awful
@NHLBlackhawks
team. Where were y’all after the Winter Classic beat down missing Ek, Brodin and Spurgeon??? 🤫 🦗 how was that depth treating ya?Injuries happen can they overcome them? We’ll see!
I know I’m the 1 millionth person to make this complaint… but holy buckets. $19 a seat to today’s
@PWHL_Minnesota
game, which is SUPER reasonable, especially for how good the hockey is. But Ticketmaster fees nearly double the cost for 4 tickets. How in the world is this legal?
As the Twin Cities burn, three of the four local stations have not broken in to report live. Fourth had nothing before it’s early news. Relying almost solely on national outlets to provide coverage.
Perhaps the biggest local story since, when? But can’t break into SVU? Really?
Brock Faber knocked down twice and still manages to maintain control of the puck. That was some defensive play by a guy who’s been in the NHL for 10 days.
Lucky to be sitting right behind this legend tonight as
@MinnStMHockey
aims for its first D1 National Championship. This man started it all, literally, on a frozen pond 53 years ago,
In all seriousness folks...
#HDM2021
in Mankato is gonna be legit. The folks down there are already working so hard behind the scenes and have been for some time. It's gonna be a first-class operation. And at Blakeslee Stadium? A Stadium Series Hockey Day? Hell yes. Cannot wait.
I know college sports is a ruthless business … but I’m sorry, what the former Maverick coaching staff is doing openly recruiting committed MSU players is absolutely bush league. Respect what they’ve done for the program, but I have zero respect for this shit.
These days are never easy. I’ll miss talking hockey with Bruce and I’m forever grateful for the access he granted me during our four years together.
On a personal note, there isn’t a more genuine human being in the profession. Hope to see him behind a bench again soon.
The three people with me in this photo sacrificed their physical and mental well-being, all to give
#mnwild
fans top notch access to their team all season.
It was my honor to join them for the last couple weeks of this crazy journey. Thanks for allowing me into your bubble.
Wanted to update folks on where I’ve landed professionally. I started a new gig doing internal communications for
@BlueCrossMN
. Should be able to maintain a part-time byline in sports as well. The positive vibes from others have been humbling and overwhelming. Onward and upward!
Really cool.... two
#Maverick
beauties, Tim Jackman and
@Ryan_Carter22
, graduated from Minnesota State today after returning to school following long hockey careers. Well done, boys!

@msumavericks
Bryan Marchment is a 4-letter word for
#Stars
fans w/long memories, but in this situation he would know exactly what to do.
His son is on the Stars. So is Tie Domi's kid.
Matt Dumba must feel consequences to his hit on Joe Pavelski.
#Stars
#Wild
OK folks, let’s bring some positivity.
In my possession, I have a copy of
@100ThingsWild
signed by the entire
#mnwild
team.
I’ll be taking bids in my DM’s until 5 pm on Friday. 100 PERCENT goes to
@ChadGraff
, his wife Sam and their daughter Anastasia.
I'll be honest... scariest part of all of this is the unknown. One of the reasons why I love sports is because it serves as an escape when the negativity of the "real world" sets in.
Completely uncharted territory. Let's all get through this together people.
Carson Soucy absolutely as advertised tonight: Steady, sticks to his strengths, calm, cool and collected. Guy is making his debut in the heat of an NHL postseason race and you'd never know it.
Anyone honestly evaluating knows a lengthy playoff run is unlikely. Trading assets for a rental at this point is throwing good money after bad. Savvy GM sells at the deadline and leverages ample cap space as a third party to arm Judd Brackett with more ammo in a loaded draft.
This 7-game homestand coming up is a murderer's row of opponents. Wild staring at a fifth loss in seven games. Ominous feeling the way this team is playing since the calendar turned Jan. 1....And I'm including the points in 7 of 8 where they were mostly lucky
Wild fans in the arena give Fleury a Bronx cheer after the last stop… yet it’d be 6-1, 7-1 or 8-1 if not for the goaltender.
This loss has absolutely nothing to do with the goaltending. Embarrassing performance pretty much everywhere else though.
Not only is this cross checking … it’s blatant interference. In fact, I’m more offended by the interference (on this particular play) than I am the cross check.
Would never wish ill will on someone’s job, believe me. And I think the world of Dean as a human. But this is two years in a row with a completely uninspired effort in an elimination game. I get no Ek… but at some point, the entire body of work has to matter.
Had
@NanneLou
on the show today, asked if Evason’s job was in trouble if the Wild lose tonight, he confidently said no, Evason has two years left on his deal, but this looks like 4 straight years out in the first round, I am not as convinced, but doubting Louie is normally wrong
Saying Pross is one of the best people I’ve met in hockey isn’t enough. He’s one of the best people I’ve ever met period. Just a world-class human. Worked and earned every minute he ever played at the pro level. And did it all with a smile and a dry, self-deprecating laugh.
Some news: This guy was attacked by another dog on our pregame walk and is now at the emergency vet. Can’t get to Mankato, but I do have two tickets to the game tonight for anyone that can get some use. First to DM gets them. Don’t need money, just want butts in seats.
If the small segment of whack job Stars fans is this unglued after one double overtime loss, just imagine how deranged they’ll be if their team manages to lose again tonight.
I'm all about taking precautions and keeping people safe. Seriously. But Hill-Murray went above and beyond to contact trace. They wore masks in the game where there was exposure. The kid who was sick had a mask on. Nobody has symptoms. Opponent offered to change date.
C'mon now.
Source says it's now a done deal... Hill-Murray is officially out of the Class AA Boys Hockey tournament.
Tomorrow's scheduled 11am game won't be played.
Wayzata advance to the State Semifinals.
Bet paid. Bjugy was a great sport about it. Very complementary of the Mavericks’ season. A great year for both of our clubs.
He does look good in 🟪🟨 though. 😈🤘🏼

@bpmccauley
I’ve got 4
#mnwild
tickets in the club level for THU night’s game against the Flames. I’m taking bids in my DMs until NOON ON THURSDAY, with 100% of the proceeds going to
@MSUReporter
, the student-run newspaper at
@MNSUMankato
. You can even have the write off. Let’s raise some 💰
Raw interview with Marcus Foligno after a 3-2 loss to Dallas in Game 4 tonight.
Foligno had two penalties called on him that he says were "bullshit." Stars scored on one of them.
The home ice advantage shifts to Dallas, Game 5 - Tuesday - 7 p.m. Series tied 2-2.
Plenty could change between now and the start of free agency Wednesday, but sources have indicated to me there is a strong possibility
#Flames
forward Johnny Gaudreau, perhaps the top UFA on the market, could be headed to Pittsburgh. Taking less to play with Crosby. We’ll see.
WCHA should get the respect it deserves after this one. Top of the league was really, really strong this year. Felt like it was disrespected and dismissed the last couple of weeks by many of the “experts.” Good sign of things to come for the CCHA next season too.
Well done,
@CCHAHockey
. The officials cost a team its season with just embarrassing officiating in a big-time spot.
Won’t see me blame the refs very often. But the Mavericks deserve an apology from the league for that shitshow.
Touched by all the likes, comments and messages to my tweet earlier. Felt compelled to share, because if you're someone who was like me a year ago ... struggling with weight, pain, depression, etc and you're looking to take control, YOU CAN. My DMs are always open for questions.
This is a major problem. CCHA teams cultivating elite talent, then watching it bolt for NCHC or elsewhere because it’s viewed as a step up/better for their professional development. As a fan, it’s a huge concern.
@Dave_Schwartz
Disagree. Andre Patterson is more than capable of taking over. Give him a good look over the final month and start putting together your list of candidates for the off-season. If Patterson earns the gig full-time by turning this thing around, great. If not, you can pounce early.
#Yotes
rookie and former Minnesota State star Nathan Smith expected to have quite the following tonight in St. Paul. Former crop of Mavericks teammates have a suite at the game and a bunch more former MSU players will also be in attendance.
🏒💜💛 A special edition of the 'Takes From 206;' an ode to Mike Hastings as he heads off to Madison. A couple of personal stories about the man, more on my endorsement of Todd Knott and a (very) brief recap of the 2022-23 season that was:

@darthmak
Gotta love the moron in the back of
@kare11
live shot harassing
@kenterdahl
and calling him “fake news.” Real original, pal. It’s literally the exact opposite of fake news. The guy has been out working all day, covering a cause you supposedly care about. Go to bed.
Sharks are getting a TV timeout/scrape before the 5-minute power play. Mason Shaw has also been ejected.
The Wild come back to SAP Center on March 11, in case anyone was wondering. David Quinn said there are long memories in hockey.
I've lost 200+ pounds in the past year and a half, and between the bowl of Starbursts, the M&Ms and now the box of Dunkin' Donuts in the Caps' press box ... I might gain it all back tonight.
@PaulCharchian
Not sure why wearing a mask in public is the hill folks like you are willing to die on. Seems like a pretty simple way to keep folks safe and to continue opening businesses.
🏒 🥩 BEEFY blog on the brand new man in charge of

Two for interference, two for contact to the head on Cooley. Two for holding the stick on the Quinnipiac guy. That’s how I would have called it.
No problem with the Bobcats getting a power play out of this, but apparently I’m in the minority on that.
Will miss
@Jason_Zucker16
's extremely dry sense of humor around the dressing room. And his constant disdain for
@RadioFalness
and
@asickman19
.
One heck of a class act in the community and should thrive in Pittsburgh.
I’ve heard the story a half dozen times and I still get goosebumps every time I hear it. Bruce Boudreau’s tragic connection to 9/11 and how one phone call spared his life that fateful day:
If you thought this was good, wait until you see Zach Parise in an authentic
@Ryan_Carter22
jersey.
Mavericks sweep or split and cover 1.5 goals, Mr. Parise will don the sweater in a postgame interview.
If not, it's me in a Sioux jersey for
#RinkReport
.

On a night where
#mnwild
has already locked up a new deal with one netminder in Marc-Andre Fleury, I’m hearing a deal may also be done to bring TRF native and former
@UNDmhockey
goalie Zane McIntyre back as well. He’d likely slot in with Jesper Wallstedt with
#iawild
.
