Friendly reminder that both Justin Minaya and Devin Carter got snubbed for DPOY in favor of a guy who gave up 32 points to a guy 5 inches shorter than him tonight
The AMP is the place to be Saturday as the Friars host Ed Cooley's Georgetown.
Devin Carter on the atmosphere expected:
"Only thing I ask is no physical, no throwing stuff...I want everybody to be safe. But I mean fans, everybody, students, express yourself. Say how you feel"
At Providence, Cooley was universally praised for building a team whose toughness was reflective of the region and fanbase.
Unfortunately for Georgetown, it appears he’s done the same there.
@Boston_Diehards
Mac took some bad sacks, but overall wasn’t the problem offensively. O-line is brutal. Defense is super bowl caliber. Offense is like a last place team
Oduro and Ticket have been both great players and great people to help build the culture under English at PC. Very grateful to have had them as Friars this year

@FootbaIIism
Colt Anderson wasn’t supposed to get under center unless they caught the Pats in a substitution error. Last minute Pagano told him to try to draw an offsides. Message wasn’t relayed to Griff Whalen
The subset of former Providence “fans” who now actively root against Providence since the previous coach left is one of the weirder handfuls of individuals on the internet
10 Big East fanbases are rooting for Villanova tonight against a team with a cool coach and completely unobjectionable players. Wonder what that says about the fans of the 11th team.
One of two things is currently true:
Either Ed Cooley is actively flirting with a conference rival or he’s allowing these rumors to linger at the expense of this year’s team.
Either is a shitty thing to do while still coaching Providence

Georgetown will make a run at Providence coach Ed Cooley, source told
@Stadium
.
No surprise, obviously.
Sources say that Cooley will listen to the Hoyas offer.
I'd still be surprised if Cooley actually makes that move within the league.
@bigdonkey47
I would’ve understood an ejection after the point with the bat, but if you’re not gonna eject him you gotta be professional and do your job
Big East tourney is kind of a zoo. Honestly it is perfect. It could never be the ACC nor Big Ten and that is just perfect for the event and style of East Coast Hoops. Personally I love it, but it is not for everyone
First they stole our election and then they stole our Friars game. Enough is ENOUGH.
This one goes out to all our brave brothers and sisters overseas protecting our freedom to send. We’re bringing them all home.
People that HATE this: the left, Will McNair, Ed Cooley
Friendly reminder that no one from UConn’s last NCAA tournament appearance is still in college, they’ve gone below .500 3 of the last four seasons, and have lost 5 of their last 6 to Tulsa. They shouldn’t be excited to play anyone in the Big East

Just to clarify... Georgetown now has transfers from Texas, UNC, Illinois and Kansas State,.... Providence... has transfers from George Mason, George Mason and...you guessed it George Mason.
Georgetown being firmly in my crosshairs has left me unable to hate UConn with the same vigor, which is a shame, because that fan base WILL be insufferable if they win a national championship
Georgetown knocks off DePaul.
Ed Cooley has already tied the total number of conference wins the Hoyas accumulated over the previous two seasons.
And he still has 4 more golden opportunities in Big East play this season.
Watching Georgetown fans go from "if we get Hunter Dickinson we'll be dangerous next year!" to "if we get Ish Massoud we'll probably be competitive" in real time has been glorious
Mystified with the way the media talks out of both sides of their mouth with Cooley/Georgetown. Is it a big time program with a top head coaching job in the country, or would it be a miracle for Cooley to bring them back to relevance? You gotta pick one
Amazing expectation-lowering by Cooley. From
@MattNorlander
: "If Cooley gets the Hoyas into the NCAA Tournament by Year 3, it would be astounding."
A top-paid coach with (supposedly) great NIL, but making the NCAAs in 3 years would be astounding.
If you’ve listened to enough Cooley press conferences, you learn that nothing he says makes actual sense, it’s 100% vibes. Which works when people enjoy the vibes, but he’s gonna get called on it now that there are fans who hate him
Ed Cooley: “I totally understand the anger, what they feel as a betrayal. I get it, I’ll internalize that. But until all of them sit in my seat and understand what change is, I can go to bed knowing that.”

You do realize the Big East was super down the years UConn wasn’t in it, right? I’m not saying UConn saved the Big East at all, but to say you were fine without UConn and others is hilarious. The Big East was trending toward the A-10 outside of Nova, let’s be honest here!
Update: I will also be maintaining my positivity and (hopefully) my invite to the let’s go friars Twitter party.
Also, what’s with all the bozos who think it’s a good idea to direct their negativity at the parents of players?

Christ Essandoko will likely be the starting center at Providence for the 2024-25 season, just as everyone expected in 2022. Took a totally normal path to get there, too
I'll be honest, I didn't want to watch Josh Oduro or Donovan Clingan play basketball tonight. I definitely didn't want to see them go head to head. That would have been too much fun.
Providence was 4-9 against teams that weren’t DePaul or Georgetown without Hopkins. Five of the nine losses were by double-digits. Eight of the nine losses were by 8 points or more.
I’ve had a small handful of instances where I agree with a Hot Balls tweet (and I squirm every time) but agreeing this emphatically has my head spinning
It's incredible how many reporters are lining up as human shields for this guy and telling Providence fans to take it easy.
I can't believe i'm defending PC fans here, but you don't get to drive a truck up someone's ass like that and think you're getting off scotch free. And

If Chris Sale never pitches another inning on his current deal, the Red Sox still got more for their money than they got from Carl Crawford
Hell no!! PC is the annoying little brother that never shuts up, and then when they finally get a win*** they think they’re the golden child. They will never be in the same tier as Cuse, Duke, Nova, Georgetown, Pitt, Louisville, Notre Dame, or even Cincinnati
Hot take: a Big East & ACC merge if FSU & other football schools leave the ACC for the Big 10, Big 12, or SEC is more realistic than we think.
Large conferences are the new normal, and those remaining basketball ACC schools will have nowhere to go besides the Big East
Baha-Mar summary
Game 1:
-Got outplayed
-Should have won anyway
-Lost
Game 2:
-Outplayed opponent
-Possibly should have lost anyway
-Won
Now get this team the hell out of Nassau.
UConn Twitter has this weird misplaced insecurity about them where the championships aren't enough and they need to dig up old beef to give them the sense of being hated and doubted. Unfortunately for them, it's not working. I still hate Georgetown far more
