Tuesday is my 50th birthday. We planned a trip to TO to celebrate & I bought an awesome dress to wear for my supper at the CN Tower. Cancelled now of course. Instead, we'll do the Irish Loop with a picnic lunch (No stopping or social interaction!). I'm wearing the dress.

20 years ago on a bitter February night a stray cat tapped a frozen paw on my window desperate to get in. Little did I know she was looking for a warm spot to have kittens. The stray, renamed Gypsy, stayed for good & so did one of her kittens Raven. This is Raven today at 20!

My mother was town clerk here from 86 until her untimely death, at 55, in 99. Current town clerk who took over found this little bible in my mother's desk & kept it for all these years. It was given back to me today at my swearing in. It was so remarkable. #nlpoli

After 21 years we said goodbye to Miss Raven today. She lived to a great age & died in her favourite chair with her humans holding her paw & stroking her head as a gentle rain fell outside the window beside her. All that can be said is she was a great cat. She was our friend.

At a building supply store today with Izzy, looking at paint chips & felt a tug on her leash. Turned around to see her sitting with her paw on a man's leg staring at him - which she never does. As I was apologizing, he told me he just lost his dog & is very sad. Dogs just know.❤️

The motion to extend Mullowney's Lane was new, so we submitted an appeal of it to the Eastern Newfoundland Regional Appeals Board. The town has been issued a stop work order until a hearing can be scheduled which will be at least a few months from now. #nlpoli #RaggedBeach

Great comments @HasanHaiNL on CBC tonight. It's hard to expect people to 'live healthy' when, for example, we pay 8 bucks for a head of cauliflower. Work on making healthy food more accessible before you punish people for buying what they can afford. Excellent points.

Had Raven to the vet today & couldn't believe how good she was. Let the Dr. look in her mouth no problem, very chill. Our vet couldn't believe she was 21 - I know she is because she was born in this house. It's ok to be a little bit proud of your old lady cat right? ❤️

When I was 29 I went through something and almost self destructed because of it. My father fought me. He fought for me. And that's why when he came to a vulnerable place in long term care I fought so hard for him. Tonight I lost him. He's gone. And I hardly know what to do.

Izzy likely has Cushings Disease, but definitely a tumour on her lung. Cushings complicates treatment for the tumor. Tomorrow, I will begin the work of finding out how we help her to get more time with a good quality of life. Tonight, I am broken in two.

After 12 wks striking in the cold, braving financial hardship & uncertainty Dominion workers have voted to accept the latest offer. It amounts to roughly 0.34/yr increase. 34 cents. They were among the bravest & best of the pandemic & this is what they get. Heartbroken for them.

Dominion workers have ratified a final offer from the company after 12 weeks on strike. They’re accepting the same deal that was offered before the strike, except with a 4th year and a 4th wage increase. They’re getting an extra $1.35 total (they wanted the full $2 pandemic bump)

Watching moonrise tonight feeling quite lonely for my father. When I was small he'd always make up mad stories about the man in the moon & how he shined up the moon for a whole month to make it whole. I did this painting for him in honour of that. It's back on my wall now.

Yesterday we drove the Irish Loop - never interacted with another human - the only thing we did for my birthday after cancelling all other plans. It's roughly about 200 km and we saw no more than 20 cars in total the entire time. People ARE listening! Thank you everyone!

I haven't been able to put Izzy's dog bed away just yet. Her buddy Petey McCatty face came home with a mouse tonight and left it on her bed. Then looked at me with a big long meow. The bed will go away tomorrow. It's more than just me who misses her.

Izzy feeling chill after a great report at the vet today. Her vet is surprised and delighted she's doing so well 6 months post lung neoplasia diagnosis. (Tumor on her lung). The tumor hasn't grown and she's doing excellent! Great job stayin alive Izzy!

Usually there's an occasion to cook a turkey, but I just threw one in the oven on a random Thursday for no reason at all. At first I was going to say a nothing Thursday - but every day your feet hit the floor you're a winner. So - let there be turkey!

Oh happy day!! Torch on roof next, then clapboard and trim and all is well again! Actually better than when it was put there in the first place!

Thanksgiving was always my favourite time of year. I loved to cook, have a house full, didn't even mind the mess after. That was before everyone died, moved, or became estranged. Now it's just lonely. It's not always the people you think who have a hard time with holidays.

An 11 year old child from my town found an injured crow on the main road and insisted his mother drive him to see 'the bird lady' with it. Sadly the crow passed shortly afterwards. Yet the question remains - am I the town whack nut? Lol. It appears to be the case!

Congratulations to the stakeholders of Fortis and NL Power - today I got the highest electricity bill in 26 years living in this house! Hope that puts another umbrella in your drink on the beach. I'm sure you need it ya poor scraps. 🙄
