I can’t believe this made X (Twitter). My daughter recorded this piece while I was watching the NCAA women’s basketball championship game. Shout out to
@dawnstaley
and the South Carolina Gamecocks for winning the national title.
@GamecockWBB
. Good stuff.
I want to thank the
@sixers
for having me as their bell ringer at Saturday’s game against the Pacers! I enjoyed covering them over the years and this is a great honor! 🔔
Today, we are proud to announce

@PhillyTrib
. Hunt, who retired about a year ago, is the 11th person to win the award. Donald has been an FWAA member for 35 years.
I want to thank everybody for the thoughtful messages. Although tomorrow is my last day at The Philadelphia Tribune, I still plan to do some sports writing. Thanks again for all your support.📝🏀🏈⚾️

C. Vivian Stringer left Cheyney State for Iowa. She also took Iowa to the Final Four and put women’s basketball on the map at Iowa. This was before she coached at Rutgers. Coach Stringer and John Chaney were Hall of Fame coaches at Cheyney State. Not many schools can say that.

’ standout Aqeel Glass continues to impress the pro scouts as he preps for the 2022 NFL Draft. A huge shoutout to Doug Mouton and Ricardo LeCompte for sharing Aqeel’s story during Legacy Bowl practice this week!
I would like to thank the Men’s Ministry & Fellowship of The African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas for giving me the Lifetime Achievement Award. I really appreciate it.
It’s great to see former Saint Joseph’s basketball star Jeffery Clark officiating the Kansas State-Kentucky NCAA tournament game. Jeff is one of the best officials in college basketball.
Great to hear
@Jacko2544
mention the late John Hardnett during the 76ers-Rockets broadcast tonight. John was a great basketball coach in the Sonny Hill League. He was also a good mentor to Marc Jackson, Aaron McKie, Mardy Collins, Alvin Williams, Phil Booth and others.

NFL scouts should be looking at Alabama A&M quarterback Aqeel Glass as a top prospect. He can make every throw. He knows how to play the game. He’s a big time player.

For all the Wilt Chamberlain fans, you have to get the Wilt U.S. postage stamps. They’re the biggest stamps ever made and a great tribute to a player who was nothing short of outstanding.

Ted wrote about my son Donald Hunt who played basketball at CAPA. He was not only a great sports writer, but an outstanding person. We covered a lot of high school games together. He was the best. I’m going to really miss him.

One of the best examples of an HBCU coach who has gone on to the major Division I level was John Chaney. Coach Chaney spent 10 years (1972-82) at Cheyney State before moving to Temple University. Chaney is in the Basketball Hall of Fame.
