This year all the family will be doing the Liverpool Santa dash to raise money for @AlderHeyCharity in memory of Adam our wonderful sun and brother. 10 years ago this January he started treatment for the cancer that took his life.

So today is national bereaved parents dayโ€ฆ I never knew. Itโ€™s a club I wish I wasnt in but I am. Itโ€™s just one day and we are bereaved every day but because it is today I will share a picture o& my son Adam who died aged 17 in 2016. This was his first day out of isolation

Well Iโ€™m a proud Dad in the last few years my son has dealt with,illness and death of his brother, his own diagnosis with ASD and a university course. That last has now finished and we have a proud Philosophy and Politics graduate in the family, I have grit in my eye

@RogersHistory Contrast, my son was desperately ill for a year with terminal cancer they gave me a zero lesson timetable and asked me to come in and help when I could if I could . After he died they reintegrated me over 6 weeks

@BenLegacyOfLove I totally understans, my son died of lymphoma aged 17 , I also teach in a secondary school. I find every years all the 'rites of passage ' events that each year goes through heart breaking. I usually find something else to do instead

@labourwhips Listen to all the replies from teachers, none of us are asking for early vaccination. That IS NOT the issue. Schools are viral soups because of the intermingling of 100โ€™s of families taking infection from one household to another. Thatโ€™s the issue. Address that.

My son also received notification yesterday from @AnthonyNolan that he was a potential match. His elder brother died from blood cancer after a stem cell transplant. It means a lot to all of us that the potential for saving life is there

@jessphillips (2/2) ok for us we had a car and made a day of it, tried to make a positive. Cancer is no respecter of poverty, for other families on the ward this was a really difficult journey, sure they had support from charities but surely it is more efficient to use the local facilities?

The series has inspired my wife and I to take the books off the shelf and read them, thankyou @neilhimself , Adam would have loved the series on TV

@jessphillips (1/2) I donโ€™t know the full contractual details of this but: 1. My son had cancer 2. He needed a PET scan 3. Three local hospitals had PET scanners all within a short journey 4. Paediatric oncology had a contract with a 4th hosp an hours drive, we had to go there

@robdelaney This is SO important, my son died of a blood cancer but whilst he was being treated he had no immunity from disease to him a casual encounter with a virus could have killed him. It is utterly selfish and anti social not to vaccinate your children.

This health inequality needs addressing? It is an issue of diversity and if addressed could save many lives
