Can someone please transport me back to the America where one states idiocy doesn’t bleed over into the sane normality of simple things and where I can get gas both in and out of the fucking gas can?!
Labor force in ag may be my number one concern for its future. Had a fully capable, ag major intern quit after two weeks of paid crop scouting because it is too much work. My clients have to run skeleton family crews because they can’t find capable, reliable people to work.
Wow! The guys did an amazing job on this planter. Local dealer wanted the 83 yo farmer to trade up for 250K. Saved him $200K just by doing a few simple things right. Adding value for great framers that built our ag economy 🇺🇸
It’s had 6” rain since it was planted and they’ve thrown3 more inches of rain and “gorilla hail” into the weather forecast. Calm down Mother Nature. And WTF is gorilla hail anyhow?!?
6 years he’s been gone. Doesn’t seem
possible. He always wanted me to be a nurse but kept me busy on the family farm.
I guess I just wanted him to be this proud of me too.
Mondays were our check in days and the day he passed.
I❤️🌽
Same hybrid, split planter.
Corn on left had in furrow + 30# N 2x2 + PB40.
Corn on right was dumped straight out of the bag and planted as many people
do.
Maybe, just maybe, the old way of doing things isn’t the best way. For your consideration.
If all the yellowing spots in soybeans in NWMO are Phytophthora root rot, this is by far the largest plant pathogenic outbreak I've ever seen in my career. Any soybean or plant path nerds need to come take a drive. It's unreal.
Finished our company yield checks then decided to tease out a little of it. Of course not all variables are accounted for. Don’t get all butt hurt. It’s just math
Small features making big improvements. ROI on the Furrow Force unit for this grower at 900 ac of corn is $21/ac (manual) and $32/ac (automatic). You tell me if it's a good investment.
First replant call. Fixed ear hybrid planter April 12. 35,500 dropped in the ground. 26K best stand count I could find. Replant or keep? (It's already been decided but I like to know others thought process).
Scenario:
Uses in-furrow with lots of fixings.
Seed is free
Craig, MO. Levee break. Entire town evacuated. So much love and concern for all of our friends and clients along the Missouri River. We’re all holding our breath.
The mobile treater for
@pivotbio
Proven 40 arrived! What does that mean to you? 4500 lbs of nitrogen applied ON SEED for every box of corn that goes through.

coming like a freight train! Let's Go!!!
MU plant clinic just confirmed this soybean shit show is brought to you by Phytophthora Root Rot. Said the samples are incredibly pure. Largest plant path event I've seen. Close second would be gls outbreak in P3394 in 1996, difference being this PRR knows zero boundaries
Tarspotter! Had a great opportunity to fly some fields we looked at yesterday with the tar spot nerd herd. Here's a visual from a Birds Eye view. I have some videos from within each field if y'all want me to post them, I will.
We had a positive ID of Tar Spot from some plant samples we found last week. It's early. It's here. Scout the corn. If you don't want to or don't know what you're looking for, WE SCOUT.
Spent a career saying this, now big names in fertilizer are starting to pivot and market the amount of loss they've always known was happening with "traditional" nutrient mngt. "can mean the loss of up to 60 percent of your applied nitrogen" -BigFertDog
Why I drink vodka in-season, part 1:
Farmer: can you come look at some corn to determine if we should spray fungicide?
Me: Sure. Send me a dot or field map.
Farmer:
We didn’t do much 2 pass (late season) fungicide this year as last. Tar Spot wasn’t as heavy and corn wasn’t as profitable. Being in the field now really has me questioning those decisions.
Went over and back to the homeland yesterday. Saw just a few planters rolling, NH3 going in and lots of tillage equipment 🤮. Had a chance to see family and visit dad. Can't believe it's been 5 years. Mondays are the worst. Neat story though; my dads buried where he was born.
It's a plant pathologist playground in NWMO. I have been in so many fields that I am confident no one has been in since they were planted.
Job security I guess.
Frustrating as hell.
My brain may explode.
Not everything with black spots and die back is tar spot. Fungicide sprayed here wouldn’t do squat. Find a good, educated, trusted advisor. Not just someone who wants to sell product.

To say I’m proud of my most stubborn, let’s do something different clients is a complete understatement.

More sad soybeans. Poor things just couldn't deal with all the chemistry. Grower didn't hear the delayed plant instructions after herbicide application.
I swear I heard my dad say "rain makes grain" 1000 times growing up. I miss him the most on Mondays; Was our day to catch up on all things farming.

7 Days until Christmas! What to really WOW your favorite farmer? Surprise him with pinpoint accuracy and details he never knew were possible with this brand new Gen 3 20/20 monitor! If you want to win Christmas, this is how you do it!
New to me client for 2024 sent me a harvest video of a field that had Dectes stem borer that went unnoticed. Where others said BSR and SDS, we found the culprit. He said yield is off 12-15 bpa and they're down bad. We don't guess. Welcome to the family new guy 😉

I love a ride along with this gal and her grandpa. I love being a part of their lives and am incredibly grateful for them. There's a lot of pride between those rows 🌽
The kids are sure growing up.
Corn wasn't too shabby either 😎
New to me client for 2024 sent me this video of a field with Dectes stem borer. He said yield is off 12-15 bpa and flat. The other guys said BSR, SDS but we found the culprit. We don't guess. Welcome to the Cropwise family new guy 😉 You'll be well cared for here.
2 days until Christmas! Keep it simple w EnviroMax XP disc openers. Ductile iron bearing housing, large rivets to prevent shearing, solid steel dust cap, precision machined 2 minimize runout. Longer wear and maintenance free hub assemblies. US Made🇺🇸
There isn't anything we don't have in NWMO THIS YEAR! Or so it seems! The "other guys" keep saying SDS, but this Queen of Corn (and beans 😂) says let's go look at know. Stop guessing. What you have isn't what your neighbor has (necessarily) 👸
It’s a new day up in here people. Thanks for all the support and the helpful hints, tips and tricks.
In another note, Amazon stock is up 210% from nozzle and gas can sales alone.

Let’s be real. People that don’t have to work hard generally don’t. People that feel like they need to do. I’ve always worked my butt off because I had to, not really because I wanted to. I valued strong work ethic and cultivated it. But that isn’t every persons value
Know what that is? 84,000 pounds of a non-synthetic, predictable, productive and weatherproof source of nitrogen. When we know better, we DO better.

Was sent this video by a formerly pissed off client about the performance of his Furrow Force. Take a look. Better seed to soil contact = even moisture and temperature for each seed = more consistent emergence. Be sure to follow

for planting tips, amazing beef things
Interesting follow up to flagging test from the spring. Our goal is to get more ears into D1 & D2 category. I feel like we accomplished that here.
@PrecisionPlant
we have Furrow Force units available. DM me if you have questions or we can help out.
