1 in 4 cowboys were Black
But over time, the West forgot this
“Black Cowboys” is an iHeart Originals limited-run podcast that conjures up this past and reminds us that they’ve been here, they did that, and oh yes, Black cowboys are very much real
Here's the complete series...
"No one would ever hold a wedding in Auschwitz. Plantations should be treated the same way. They should become physical reminders of what we’re capable of when we dehumanize others."
It's time we turn all the remaining plantations into slavery museums
recently, Steve Albini tweeted that he and his peers “miscalculated,” thought “the major battles over equality and inclusiveness had been won” and he’s “overdue for a conversation about my role in inspiring ‘edgelord’ shit”

"The officers said, 'We’re pretty much going after them,' and assured him: 'We’re looking at you as a victim.'”
I covered this Nazi rally in Sac. This is exactly what they did. The officers set the Nazis up to be attacked. Then treated them as victims.
you know the Hollywood execs who greenlit this movie thought this was smart, progressive, and that having a white woman play a Muslim refugee (they could relate to) was a bold choice
Lol.
despite what Hollywood has taught us, 1-in-4 cowboys were Black
curious to learn more about Black cowboys?
"Black Cowboys" is just for you
here's a thread of episodes...

and The Last Jedi, I wrote this about how Luke Skywalker is the soul of baby boomer men.
But also it's about feminism, General Leia and baby boomer women, Rey and Kylo as angry millennials, and Gen X's Poe.
imagine if black women were thoroughly recognized for their work generating trends and new language. imagine if they were paid for it.
now stop imagining and do it: pay black women.
when I was a teen, I went to punk shows. sometimes nazi punks would crash the shows. they’d come and try to intimidate ppl, often they’d get violent. know how we got rid of them? we punched them. we fought back bc it was only thing they understood. it worked. always punch a nazi.
it’s wild that some ppl fully believe that their pets should be given the legal protections of human beings but children living across an invisible line on the map should not

Asian women are currently engaged in multiple national acts of protest and organizing in the region, their efforts aren’t getting enough coverage in the Western press
5.5 million women just stood shoulder-to-shoulder in India to protest their mistreatment and to demand its end
imagine if every single time you fucked up at work and got called out for it you blamed it on the same Black guy, a dude who doesn’t even work there anymore, and he hasn’t for 3 years
South Africa is the only nation that’s ever destroyed its entire stockpile of nuclear weapons. But...
...they did it, so the incoming black post-apartheid govt wouldn’t have nukes

2,535 days is almost 7 YEARS of a person's life
if men spent 7 years of their lives dealing with pain, discomfort, and financial costs related to those 7 years, you best believe not only would there be a tax credit, there would be paid leave for menstruation
#MenstrualEquity
The average person with a period spends 2,535 days of their life menstruating—and coping with the associated pain, discomfort, and financial cost that entails. It’s time for

We protest because we are not safe. We are not safe because white America turns us into a threatening presence inside their heads. We are also not the imaginary Black people that reside in their imaginations, yet we die because of what they imagine

Rome fell due to cultural arrogance and an assumption that its projected power had become permanent; when popular education was taken over by Christianity it only aided the cultish egotists in charge, further hastening Rome’s demise. come to think of it, that does sound familiar
