When you get to the game everybody wants to win….
If you you have a great sense of purpose, you usually create pretty good habits to do it because it’s important to you.
Nick Sagan post game interview. Talking mental skills! Listen ⬇️
Cut school days in half. Provide required work each day for exchange of time to be completed daily. Start Athletics earlier. Get kids home earlier or start school day later. Allow work part time during non school hours for students not in activity’s. We have to rethink Education
In Track and Field….
It’s true that drugs are performance enhancing. But everyone has access to those.
The real performance enhancer is sponsorship in which you never have to work 2 jobs, you know when you’re next meal is going to be, and you have somewhere to train.
College Track and Field Coaches.
Please stop recruiting kids which you cannot or will not coach in technical events.
It’s not fair to kids. You’re doing everyone a disservice. Crushing kids in prime time for development.
Recruit what you can coach or stop recruiting it....
College Track and Field athletes in town for break. You need a place to train & want to get around other athletes and continue to improve. I’m more than willing to facilitate some time with y’all in small groups! I’ve had a few reach out but just know HS coaches are here to help!
If you don’t understand this principle you’re bound to fail over and over. I don’t care what sport you coach. Name a sport where being faster isn’t beneficial to performance at your position?
@pntrack
@coachbdixon
The NFL draft and announcers are really focused on these football players high school track careers. I’m confused.. OH WAIT? It’s correlated. No one told me. Why aren’t they talking about powerlifting?
Isaiah Simmons 25’ LJ
Henry Ruggs 10.58 100
Tristan Warfs 66’3 - 190’9 SP/D
Kids either take what we do really seriously and trust me when I talk about injury prevention, movement patterns, & technique. Or they just blow me off.... well here’s the number

pick, playing for the

team, working movement prep with great hip hinge and landing mechanics!!
Does anyone else think athletes are busier and stressed physiologically more in the summers? Is it fair to think of it as an offseason if athletes are practicing multiple sports, playing multiple games a week/weekends, and working a full time job? School year is more predictable!
If you’re a high school/middle school coach and you think your sport is the only one that matters and kids should specialize in it I suggest getting a college job!
Humbled and honored by the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community of Lone Jack, MO! Jackie, Hudson, and I are coming home!

Nothing is more humbling than the birth of your child. It ain’t about me. Seeing a you person come to life and watching them learn everything there is to know one day at a time is incredible.
@Jackie_Rathke21
Hudson and I are extremely blessed and loved. Thank you everyone!
Seen a lot of non D1 experienced coaches getting opportunity’s at that level in track and field this summer! I guarantee they’ll do a great job. Too many people rule folks out because of what they do currently. D2/D3/NAIA/JUCO/HS/MS great coaches exist everywhere. Don’t forget it
If you’re the praying type, send one up for me! Our family has some challenging decisions ahead regarding our future and what God has in store for us.

Look at how long

The inaugural coaches 4x100 didn’t disappoint with fans and student athletes. Proposed a weekly addition to conference meets to keep coaches sharp and fit. Would not factor into team scores. Sadly we finished runners up to a salty

Talked to a VERY STRONG HS athlete today about how far I threw in HS and my weightroom numbers. Opened some eyes and the quote was “all that strength and it doesn’t guarantee it goes further” bingo. Does strength help absolutely. Is infinite strength the goal “NO”.
Congratulations to the

graduates of 2020. For the first time ever I was looking forward to being able to attend without the interference of State Track. God had different plans.

Track and field develops and maximizes athletes potential in speed and power and pairs well with the likes of football!
At what point do we as high school, college, or professional track and field coaches stop making excuses and start taking all responsibly when our athletes don’t get better?
Are there cases where athlete takes some blame yes. But I see too far often committed athletes get worse
Stop lumping the javelin into the throwing events and training it as such! It’s a runway event! See list below!

Long jump ✅
Pole vault ✅
Yesterday I removed all personal debt from my life. My car has been paid off. Loving debt free except a mortgage is very freeing. Thankful for the blessings I receive each day and the father in heaven who created me!

Great reaction to what it feels like to achieve a goal after times of ups and downs over a season, career, and day! Hats off!
Why wouldn’t South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, or Oklahoma include the javelin in their HS series. The amount of states that exclude events from the traditional lineup is insane. Limiting opportunities for kids. Lets find a way to make it happen. Lets educate coaches. No excuses!

We’ve been missing the point a lot lately and I’ve been doing a poor job of working the most important aspect of the throw. It’s so much easier to throw far with the right angle. Loved the progress today!
I was asked what I’d do if a kid pulled their left too much in the back. My go too. Take it away. Force the good actions without the negative influence. Teach the body to move correctly without its influence!

Do you ever have someone who opens left hip and shoulder too much out of the back? Someone who doesn’t understand timing of linear push to the front? Check this out!

Getting left out of the back. Feeling knee out over toe, left arm, hip, knee, and toe turning together. Progressing to a sweep.
@MTCthrowers
Sometimes a sense of urgency is needed. You get tired of waiting for someone to get in ring and you jump in and bring the dress pant heat! 😂
@M_Simoneau
and I have been sharing video. Well mostly him to me but I wanted to quickly film a throw far from perfect but that feels good

solution= turn off non speaking candidates microphone when the other is asked a question.
When time is up turn off their microphone.
We don’t condone this behavior anywhere else in world. Why are we allowing our leaders to demonstrate this.

Reasons to Coach High School Track and Field as opposed to pursuing higher levels!
1️⃣ Higher Average Income
2️⃣ More Family Time
3️⃣ Summer Time Freedom
4️⃣ Make a Greater Impact
5️⃣ Development Seen Easier
6️⃣ Private Training Opportunity
7️⃣ Weekday Meets
What else is missing?
As a strength coach I want you to be a better _____________ player. I don’t want you to be a better weightlifter. That’s a hard pill to swallow for most but that’s the goal of training.
Was there a secret that got out over last 6-12 months in the NCAA on how to get a discus thrower over 60M? If I missed it please do share?! 59.13 is 15th 😳
When you see all things equal in bond and levy money be used in different levels of commitment to athletic facilities you know the priorities of different districts. Whether you admit it or not the facilities and commitment impacts families decisions when moving. Hats off to PCHS

Wilt Chamberlin one of the greatest basketball players of all time was a multi sport standout! Shown here winning the 1955 Penn Relays in the Shot Put. He was also an excellent high jump and 400M athlete.
#COMPETE
More than the medalists I’m most proud of us as a team. Every kid in uniform on bus on time, every kid waits until meets over before leaving, every kid gives their best effort, kids step up and run 4x400 when others can’t! Proud of this group. Special season is underway!
My goal...give ever senior in my program an opportunity to compete at the next level. No matter ability or level. So far so good. Every senior I knew was interested in competing has had 1 or more schools in contact with me in last 2 weeks
Grind never stops!

Today is a great day! We are finishing up second layer on our new IAAF regulated javelin runway. 280’ of sector. 120’ long runway. Beautiful sector just adjacent to our shot/discus area. It’s what sets the Bill Summa Invite apart! Join us April 9th for the states most elite meet!
Worked about an hour worth of drills in our locker room then headed outside for some PVC throws. Proud of the development of this group. Excited for this season!
Want to thank everyone who prayed for, thought about, or messaged or called me last week. I’m still recovering but feel better each day. I was released from hospital Saturday afternoon. Eating some normal foods now and able to keep liquids flowing now. THANK YOU.

Results speak louder than words. 10.09 100M PB and 20.59 200M PB! Even more than his accomplishments he’s a man of character and extreme toughness! #🐻⬆️
Just a reminder. Unsigned seniors who are still looking for homes for next year. I have complied a list of 50+ universities & colleges across the country who have asked to receive interested athletes. Send me your info and I'll add you to the list. Just doing my part to help!

I’m not a fan of masks.
However I would never disrespect an employee, business, or person who requests or is required to make you wear one in an indoor space.
We as people know the rules. The employees of businesses don’t make the rules. 🛑 being rude to people!!!!
Tested some theory’s out pre lift today during our vertical jump tests. Standard extended dynamic warm up, jump. Go play 2v2 or 3v3 basketball come back and jump again. 5 minutes was all they got. Came back. Average increase over 2 inches. Top was 4” increase in vertical jump. 👀
