Today, I introduced the E-BIKE Act to reduce cost-barriers that prevent residents from purchasing an electric bike. This is an idea I heard from residents on our Ward 2 bike ride. Reductions in traffic congestion & pollution mean we all benefit from getting residents onto bikes.

Anyone who commits an act of violence must be held accountable. Being tried in our juvenile justice system does not and should not mean that there's no accountability. Check out my full interview with @CFloresNewson on what accountability looks like for young people ⬇️

"Regardless of your age, you need to be held accountable..." Tonight on @7NewsDC at 11 I ask D.C. Councilmember @brookepintodc if council is considering dropping the minimum age to charge a juvenile as an adult for serious crimes, as well as discuss juvenile justice as a whole:

Our @WMATA & transit workers make sure DC residents, workers, and visitors are able to safely and efficiently navigate our wonderful city. Our laws must protect their important service to DC, which is why Secure DC enhances penalties for violent crimes committed against them.

Tonight we want to thank @councilofdc and @CMBrookePinto for passage of increased penalties for assaulting transit workers within the Secure D.C. omnibus. Too many of our members have faced violence on the job. This measure is a major victory for transit workers and riders!

Today, I introduced legislation to replace all lead pipes in DC – at no cost to homeowners – by 2030. Lead pipes are dangerous to health and well-being & it’s time we take action to replace them. This bill lays out a plan for doing so that is equitable, attainable, & urgent.

As many first responders should live in DC as possible – they'll be better able to do their jobs when they are integrated in the communities they serve. This bill will improve safety responses by making it easier & more affordable for officers & firefighters to live in DC.

We just wrapped the Council's truancy hearing. I am deeply concerned. 40% of our students are missing over 3.5 weeks of school a year. Our kids need to know that we care about them and that their future depends on them going to school and learning. Thoughts below 🧵👇

Today, my resolution passed to rename Swann St in honor of William Dorsey Swann, a pioneering drag activist & the 1st “Queen of Drag”. As anti-drag & anti-trans bills across the US aim to erase & criminalize queer & trans identities, in DC we take a firm stand against hatred.
