Back at work after spending 10 days bed bound with COVID-19. As someone who is reasonably fit and eats healthily I was taken by surprise by how poorly I have been. Have lost 3/4 stone in last 2 weeks. Please continue to keep your distance everyone...

Received some good feedback from a drug dealer arrested in Oxford this week. He said that County Lines dealers are 'petrified' to come to TVP as 'you have to always look over your shoulder...you are on our case in a flash'. Keep up the good work people.

3 people have been arrested in TVP this week for 'cough attacks' on officers. Pleased to report that all three have been charged and remanded. Expectation that officers are proactive in using reasonable force in such circumstances to keep themselves and the public safe.

Came across serious incident on the motorway on my way to work this week. Carriageway blocked by debris from crashed vehicle. 3 people stopped to help look after the casualty until ambulance arrived. As a society we rely on people looking out for one another at their time of need

An officer said to me last week, "It is harder for women to get promoted in the police than men.' Recent promotion passes for female vs male officers suggest this is not the case in TVP - Insp 96% female applicants v 64% males passed, Ch Insp 50% v 34%, Supt 80% v 44%

As I was saying..was talking to a classroom full of Sgts yesterday and one asked. ‘Is the new focus on domestic abuse making a difference?’ - ‘Yes’I replied. We are attending more domestic abuse crimes quicker than ever and have arrested over 1000 more DA suspects since August.

Prisoner Officers perform a demanding role and their work is essential to the effective working of the criminal just system. They should not have to put up with being assaulted and abusive behaviour. I hope this sentence acts as a deterrent to other criminals

@alfiemoore I have no doubt that negative reporting puts some people off what is it a wonderful, challenging and rewarding career, which involves protecting others from harm. Negative reporting of the police do on a daily basis is sometimes a million miles away from the reality.

First on scene at a Rape. A Thread. I Graded call in the early hours from an Uber driver that a victim with serious facial injuries had stopped him on a dual carriageway & told him they had been raped nearby.We’re on 12 hour shifts because of XR protests, & only unit available.

At #ukdrugsummit In Glasgow hearing from Prof Dame Carol Black. Her review of drugs has found that deaths from heroin/opioids has doubled since 2012 and deaths from cocaine have increased five fold. Sobering figures......

@WeCops Many comments from colleagues regarding the bureaucratic burden and time taken to submit case files to the CPS. The more hours it takes to submit a case file, the less crimes Detectives and Police Staff investigators will be able to investigate

@huttersm @WeCops I think you may be onto something here. More flexibility regarding home working is likely to attract more people into CID roles. Maybe completing a post charge file at home after putting children to bed should become the norm going forward @Wecops

I have no doubt that nationally, support to officers/staff in specialist 'high risk' roles like Child Abuse and POLIT has improved. I am not sure there is the same recognition of risk for officers in Local CID roles dealing with high volumes of demand with no respite @WeCops
