Fighting games are so rhythm based, it is unsurprising that some top players are good musicians. I think there is a direct correlation between musical talent and fighting game talent. I think playing music has helped me in the game for sure.
Tournament tip: it is important to have respect for your opponent regardless of who they are or what rank they are. If you do not respect your opponent you will get angry if they start to beat you and your emotions will get in the way of coming up with a winning strategy.
If you get nervous, you probably are afraid of losing. The key to getting rid of nerves is to be ok with losing so when you are playing you just try your best regardless of the outcome.
Here is how I like to break down fighting game improvement:
1. Playing other people
2. Training mode
3. Watching and studying matches
Of these, I think 1 and 3 are the most important. I learned Chipp in Strive almost entirely through watching others and running sets. Thoughts?
As much as I love competing in fighting games, the thing I don't like is that someone always has to lose. When I play music it is just a personal journey of improvement where there are no losers. I think it is good to have both of these types of activities in your life.
*SFV Board Meeting*
"Ok everyone is complaining about the netcode again and our chun costume distraction tactic isn't working any ideas?"
"Yeah Steve Aoki still owes me a favor I'll call him... Hey steve. Yeah need you to make a Ryu remix, make it as shitty as possible please."
I asked
@GOOD_NEMO
what makes a SFV character strong on his Q&A stream. Here were his main points:
1. Good oki even if they backrise
2. Whiff punish into oki/damage
3. Conversions off of light attacks
2nd place for east coast CPT! Idom is just too good I made some mistakes but he mixes up options too well. GGs y'all. Definitely made my Saturday more interesting!
New optimal combo shown from this person (funnily not the point of their vid). With a micro walk you can get an extra drive rush + insane corner carry!
#SF6_Ryu
A lot of people are telling me you can perfect parry this setup.
My response: no shit, have fun getting punish counter grabbed into me getting 2 level 2 supers in 1 round.
People love to cancel people for making a bad joke but when it comes time to cancel the politicians you don't like at the voting booth yall are nowhere to be found
@NuckleDuDang
Me! As
@timmccrthy
said i won SFV at NEC last year and was unable to go to Evo due to my flight being cancelled. I have been growing as a player every day and would love a chance to test myself against a larger field and connect with more people!
Overheard my nana on a call with "tech support" after she clicked on a fake website so I grabbed the phone and shut it off. All those hours watching Kitboga videos finally paid off.
People are still comparing a game that was balanced for 6 years to a game that just came out. I'll take SF6 at launch compared to 5 every day of the week every week of the year ever year of the
Guys this is what happens when a player has no incentive to win. This was not an anti Idom thing. Qualified players should NOT be allowed to enter! He ragequit because he had nothing to lose....
You won't always win and you won't always lose, but being results oriented will make you lose more. Just look back on how you played and try to improve on it thats all there is to it.
Everytime I lose in bracket I DM
@Xyloboness
and he sends me the words "research set". I believe this to be some form of ancient spell or black magic. I am undefeated after having him say these specific words after losing
