I’m privileged to have been selected as ACT’s Deputy Leader today.
Working on the End of Life Choice Act in Parliament, I got to see how real change happens. I’m excited that I could make more positive change in Parliament after this election.
I have resigned from the Parliamentary Service and the ACT Leader’s Office. My last day will be today. I will spend the next three months campaigning and focusing on increasing the Party Vote for ACT.
Sorry Simon, an increase in the number of rape cases going to court doesn’t mean rapes are increasing. It means more people are coming forward, and the police are taking assaults seriously and believing survivors. This is heartening, not worrying.
As Minister of Internal Affairs, responsible for Fire and Emergency NZ, today I visited our brave firefighters battling the blaze at Port Hills. There is a co-ordinated response from the ground and air to contain the fire. I’m confident they are giving their all to ensure safety
I’d never considered joining a political party until I had a chance encounter with Act at the pub. It changed me from a casual Act supporter to member and now deputy leader.
It’s a party and group of people I’m very proud to be part of.
While walking a few blocks home from yoga tonight wearing my male flat mate’s baggy sweater, a car slowed down and the occupants shouted at me ‘get your tits out.’
Can’t we all just stop being dicks and harassing women for existing?
My thoughts are with those who have been affected by the fire in Port Hills, near Christchurch, and with the brave Fire and Emergency personnel who are working hard to contain it. This is a quickly developing situation.
Stoked to get my Pfizer booster shot, less so about the sunburn 💉 ☀️
Let’s help keep our families and communities safe by getting booster shots when we’re eligible for it, and don’t forget to keep yourself safe too by putting sunscreen on this summer!
Great to meet so many people at street corner meetings today in Tamaki. Thank you for getting involved in local democracy. I’m here to listen and work hard for you. Let’s deliver change for the better in Tamaki!
“It’s great for New Zealand that the test matches will be played here...
“Hospitality businesses, especially those in the South Island, would be wishing they too could just call up the Prime Minister and sort out the rules.”
Thanks to the Tamaki residents who braved the weather to turn up to my street corner meeting today to hear about change for the better in Tamaki. I’ll be back out again tomorrow rain, hail or shine!
The Parliamentary Counsel Office are the most methodical and meticulous people I’ve ever met. Sounds to me like they’ve been thrown under the bus by Robertson because of a rushed process.
Thank you St Heliers for coming out tonight! I look forward to meeting again and hearing how I can work to deliver you and Tamaki change for the better and a stronger voice in Parliament 👍🏼
Our justice system is broken.
This guy admitted rape and sexual assault in court and faces no punishment.
It sends a nasty message to victims. Why bother coming forward at all, if this is justice?
James Shaw defends his jet-setting by saying he offsets it through tree-planting.
Good thing he uses a private company and not Shane Jones for that then.
Ukrainian evacuation order yet another reason to dump MIQ
The Government has left Kiwis in the Ukraine in limbo, telling them to leave but not offering them a way home.
I have written to Chris Hipkins urging to issue immediate emergency MIQ allocations to returnees from Ukraine
Great to see ACT’s hoardings going up around the country! Thank you to all the supporters and volunteers who have given up their time and resources to help in this effort.
Let’s spread the message- Change Your Future, Party Vote ACT!
While Todd Muller's resignation is a sad day for him, and National, it cannot distract us from what's at stake at this election.
In fact, it only reinforces the need for confidence, certainty, and a change of economic direction.
ACT is focused on three things :
Today I announced the ACT Party’s Mental Health and Addiction Policy.
The changes I propose will reduce bureaucracy, improve patient choice, and empower NZers to get services tailored to their mental health and addiction needs.
Ha. Just at a bar on a rainy Sunday and overheard a girl describe her father as “definitely alt-right” because he’s “voted National his whole life.”
Gotta love Wellington.
Thanks for having me on this morning
@Breakfaston1
to speak to the safeguards in the End of Life Choice Act.
This legislation gives choice to those who want it and protection for those who want nothing to do with it.
This morning I donated blood 🩸 Accidents and essential surgeries don’t stop because of the COVID-19 lockdown, but less people will be donating. If you’re healthy and able, help save a life ❤️

You can’t access this legislation just because you have a disability or because of your age. There are very strict eligibility requirements and safeguards. Great speeches on this from a Te Ao perspective come from Peeni Henare and Willie Jackson.
In making NZ a better fairer place, a big congrats to the NZ Government for officially passing/changing more legislation in the last 7 month period than any government has FOR THE LAST DECADE.
Imagine if the job was full time eh.
Today is Suffrage Day.
I’m grateful to the women who’ve gone before who fought for a country where I have the right to participate in democracy by voting and also by standing for Parliament
It’s an exciting time in ACT’s history.
We have a talented team of 54 candidates across New Zealand campaigning for ACT’s sensible plan for a post- COVID future with less debt, higher wages, and more jobs.
We’re standing up for more common sense in Parliament.
I’m privileged to have been selected as ACT’s Deputy Leader today.

We need to be honest about debt. Have we processed what $140 billion in borrowing means for the next ten years? Who’s checking it’s well spent and what does it mean for continuing to pay for services like health and education in the future?
Happy New Year! I hope you’ve all had a great start to 2020 🎉 I spent the day with family fishing off the coast of Tiritiri Matangi and managed to reel in this massive snapper 🎣 I hope it’s a sign of a good year to come 🤞🏼
Just touched down in Wellington in time for the first day of Parliament sitting tomorrow. I’m refreshed and ready to continue the fight for freedom.✌🏻
(Also ready for Welly craft beer hmu🍻)
“The people who are terminally ill are not suicidal, they just don’t want to suffer any more.
“I’ve got no choice about dying – it’s about how I die.”
- David Seymour, ACT candidate for Whangārei
I want to live in a country where we treat mental health care as important as physical health care. But are our mental health services up to scratch?
ACT is campaigning to establish a new Mental Health and Addiction Agency.
It’s been a privilege working with this incredible team to pass the End of Life Choice Act. A non-political person I thank is the Clerk. Parliament is a machine like no other and this Act would have failed without knowing the Standing Orders. His guidance was on hand and welcomed
ACT on 8% in Northland! This Party Vote would elect ACT’s Northland candidate, and dairy farmer, Mark Cameron.
He’d be the most authentic rural voice in Parliament.
If you’re not coeliac don’t buy gluten free specific food for the first time now 😕 Those with auto-immune diseases shouldn’t have to worry about others buying their usual food. Maybe supermarkets could create a system to put aside some food for coeliacs? 🙏🏼

I put money into a development in Welly. My contract was pulled and the house relisted for close to $100,000 more in one year.
Sometimes taking a risk doesn’t work out and that’s ok. I’ve written about my experience here:

We hoped for a smooth, peaceful transition of power and we’re relieved this has occurred.
The United States of America is an important ally of New Zealand.
“You can consent to sexual activity with somebody at a particular time and not at another. Consenting the first time does not automatically [mean] you have consented the second time. Choice matters.”
Very good article by

on victim’s histories
At ACT’s Wellington launch last night, we announced a practical way MPs could reduce their emissions and save the taxpayer money.
I also touched on how we can get people into affordable housing and take care of people at their most vulnerable.
My long weekend is off to a great start with fresh date scones.
I hope you all have a Happy Easter Weekend in your bubbles.
Take some time to relax, not think about work, and eat well. 💕🐰
For me, ANZAC day is about remembering my great-grandfather Stanley Eyre who fought in and survived Gallipoli, and his brother Bernard Eyre who never made it home. It’s also about stopping and feeling grateful for what I have: family, friends, and a free country.
Lest we forget.
Great to visit the Swazi Factory in Levin this morning and meet the team behind the top quality outdoors apparel brand.
I may have left with a new jacket too.
Awesome to be in Glen Innes tonight talking to locals about change for the better for Tamaki!
Great so many people braved the weather to come along with questions. I enjoyed meeting you all!
If you’d like to get involved in our campaign, please head to
If you head to Halswell Quarry Park in Christchurch, make sure to stop at Vice Coffee and chat to Paul. He’s a great guy with great coffee and even better and better toasties!
Sir Michael Cullen “had carefully read the End of Life Choice Act, which the referendum seeks to make active law, and was confident the legislation was sound.”
Sounds like a developer attempting to one-up Eden Park NIMBYs.
As a kid, after 9/11, I went to sleep hearing gun fire and planes flying low overhead practicing for war.
Expect noise if you buy next to a military airbase... it’s not a paddock.
“I will not apologise for asking not to have to go right to the very end of all that this disease has to offer.”
A heartfelt plea from Tanya who is walking the journey of incurable stage IV metastatic breast cancer.
Another misleading post from Euthanasia-Free NZ. This picture isn’t of last night’s End of Life Choice Bill Committee debate. In fact, it’s not even a picture of any Bill at Committee stage.
I’ve run out of single-use plastic bags which I place my recycling in on the curb.
As I live in the city centre
@WgtnCC
doesn’t provide me a recycling bin so I asked them what I could use as a replacement...
Their suggestion was to buy clear, plastic bags from

It seems fitting that on the week of the Abortion Legislation Bill passing first reading, the man who took offence at my pro-choice abortion stance fades further into oblivion.
So long, farewell, etc.
So lovely to visit Levin today to speak about the End of Life Choice Act and upcoming referendum at the Horowhenua District Ratepayers & Residents Assn meeting.
This local supporter’s shirt sums it up well!
The award for best Christmas Eve spirit goes to the man of this house in Greenhithe who has a temporary, working fireplace on his front lawn and is offering toasted marshmallows! 🎄🎉
