Elden Ring: The Dancing Lion is TROLLING me (2024) Design (imo): intimidating moves/feints are meant to back you into corners so the boss can spam AoE. The move set is simple but there are AoE variants in phase 2 that completely break the timing learned in Phase 1.

One of the things I absolutely ADORE about this game is the fact that aggression and proper tactics can nullify phase transitions. These devs simply “get it” and reward players who try to find the “thread” - shouts to Demon Slayer - those windows of invincibility + opportunity

FS boss design is peak but also frustrating. I fully believe there are levers in place to prevent domination without some ridiculously OP strat (ex: Ains one shotting Turbo Radahn or using Comet Azur/Hidden Tear/Terra Magica). Dealing too much dmg, too quickly, is punished.

The stream is going very well so far! Finding that the complaint about enemies w/endless attack strings and minimal opportunities to counter is real, but I think it’s time to learn to parry. We now have Beast Claws, 1 Backhand Blade, and a Black Steel Greathammer - let’s go!

I learned this attack can be parried but most consistently from close range. *I believe* there is a parry hitbox that prioritizes PROXIMITY > reaction time. Parrying, then, is a matter of stopping an attack from starting, not deflecting after it has already begun. That’s meh.

Interesting take. At first, I was going to disagree, but I suppose I understand. Malenia made me wait 5 days and over 20h to taste victory (twice, 2 years apart). Haven’t met a DLC boss yet that can stake a claim (DBDL took me about 12-13h over 3-4 days).

Elden Ring: The Twin Moon Knight (and Dance Instructor) Rhythmic is the word; Rellana + I danced for roughly 4h, with a few close calls, all the while learning the intricacies of her many combos. Dual spears, Poison-aspected, are great for attack speed + damage over time.

A tried and true gaming principle: The victory is never as good as the attempts to win. The attempts are where you unlock that killer instinct - the desperation to avoid dmg bc it means death produced some nice highlights but eventually I always settle into a reliable strat 😅

I enjoy games that allow for creative freedom based on solid gameplay mechanics; if the building blocks are implemented with intention, pathways become apparent to the player. Some of this is expected by the devs BUT the possibilities define the sandbox, imo ex: Final Fantasy 16

Elden Ring: A Perilous 2nd Phase (2024) The Lion can be overcome by chunking damage during the initial Lightning phase. It can be ended during either the following Ice or Wind phase (AoEs cover less ground) but the start of the elemental phase needs to be attacked with fervor.
