I was on a ‘plane recently. Take-off was very delayed; snow, covid etc. Everyone was affected. An angry passenger started shouting at the crew. The crew couldn’t speed up global air traffic, but they would keep the passengers safe. NHS. Same. Stop shouting at the crew.

Our wonderful @macmillancancer @Mac_Horizon centre is letting us do our telephone consults from there. Our cancer centre outpatients is now a haematology day unit creating valuable ward space. All acheived in 2 days by everyone pulling together.

Almost every radiotherapy centre has the equipment available to give patients the best chance of survival but Government contracts mean that only 20 out of the 52 centres in England are able to use the technology. This reckless and frankly lethal nonsense must end now.

I went to a party last night to celebrate a father and daughter 5 and 10 years clear respectively of their cancers. There were speeches and tears, and then everyone danced to ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ by Queen and sang it loudly, and it was glorious.

A year ago many people were asked to spend time and effort submitting evidence for a Government 10 year Cancer Plan. It never appeared. Now promised a 'Major Conditions Strategy'. Feels like dilution and delay to me. I hope I'm wrong.

I don't think it's a good look for the #radonc community to say that people who think radiotherapy is 'brutal' are wrong. Those are often people with lived experience We might not like how therapy is described in the media but that opinion does not arise from thin air.

Patients often worry if their adjuvant chemo dose is reduced due to haematological toxicity. This trial reassures that it is the right thing to do without harm. It's a correction not a reduction #bcsm
