My new favorite thing is the Matilda musical being cut with Dragula. Also, if you haven’t seen the musical, I highly suggest giving it a spin - kids are great in it.
Hey
@zcregger
, I co-run Terror Vision Films and we release films on home video and would love to do a stacked UHD release of BARBARIAN. My DMs are open and I’m sure we could get something rolling with the studio if we tag team. Huge fan of the film.
This is your reminder that the biggest horror hit of 2022, Barbarian, still has no physical media release.
@zcregger
and the cast and crew of this film deserve a proper release!
Hey, at least I’m trying and talking with Disney about it at the moment.
I guess I could always pay for Twitter and make bogus claims and do nothing for movies whatsoever…
I saw physical media was kinda trending the other day. Been buying movies since I was little! Recently sold all my Beta, CEDs, LDs, and VCDs.
(I have about another 20,000 that I own digitally and have digitized)
We’ve been working around the clock on our scans/transfers/restorations. Here is a side by side of how badly Magnum cropped THE JAR and what we will be presenting with its new 4K scan. Lot of work went into this one but glad people can see it the way it was meant to be seen.
A little advice for social media and the new year. Use the block button. It’s a wonderful thing. I love when people RT jerks or assholes. I’ll look them up and block them without ever interacting with them. Negative tweet/DM. Blocked. Harassment of the people I follow. Blocked.
COME TRUE was my fucking jam. This might be the best movie I’ve seen about sleep paralysis and it’s so fucking good. Huge PRINCE OF DARKNESS vibes and a killer score and beautifully photographed. Can’t wait to show this flick to people.
Working on another Kung Fu flick from the 80s. Found this print over in HK that was beaten to death, warped, and completely pink…
Here are some side by sides of how the film has been presented for years and what we will be releasing in 2024. Also presented in its OAR.
Gave MAGADHEERA a spin last night. It’s one of Rajamouli’s films that I haven’t seen and I gotta prepare for RRR tomorrow. It’s quite the picture! Very ambitious and fun but has some awful CG mixed in. It’s doesn’t ruin anything though because the dance numbers, acting,
Physical media is important. I like streaming stuff as well and it’s convenient and cheap. But, when it comes to movies being around for a long time - streaming isn’t the way to go. After that license expires; it’s done. They may not renew it and someone else might not know
Physical media is dead and bigger outlets don’t want to carry movies anymore but flicks like OPPENHEIMER, CONAN, TRUE LIES, ALIENS, THE CROW, and THE ABYSS can’t stay in stock…
Weird.
I don’t know if I ever mentioned this but a couple years ago I found the T-Rex used in TAMMY AND THE T-REX. It’s been refurbished/repainted a bit but it is pretty much in its original condition and still works! (This took me a couple years to find and track down!)
Pretty bummed. Working with defunct distributor that owns a lot of films and they are just sitting around. Found all the material which is going to be destroyed soon since bills haven't been paid. Distributor doesn't care at all and doesn't want to do anything about it.
NECROPHOBIA is a blast. Part HELLRAISER inspired by the way of Ittenback meets Fulci with a gnarly soundtrack that is in vein of Frizzi. Great descent into madness and grief with every single horror influence sprinkled in. Quite delightful in a fucked up sort of way.

Hey guys. Some news! As some of you may have heard, I've moved into a full time position with Terror Vision doing acquisitions and producing. Though I have stepped down from my full time position with Vinegar Syndrome, I am thankful for the the entire VS team and will
TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE really worked for me. Look past the weird real estate plot line which it felt like a poke at a reversed Leith anyway. It’s mean and bloody with sone great practical effects and it works on the traditional slasher level. Feels like something from the early
Some more FADE TO BLACK trivia: Gwynne Gilford was pregnant during the filming of FADE TO BLACK and they had to hide her stomach in most of the shots.
...and that baby turned out to be Chris Pine.
If people want any insight what it’s like to deal with crazy filmmakers…here ya go. He sent me a clip of his restoration on Monday and we are internally still discussing to make an offer and I get this tonight…
This is why certain films are not being re-released.
Here is a good example of what we are going through over at Terror Vision.
1st Photo is pulled from the VHS.
2nd Photo is our raw scan which is in terrible shape and has turned into a shade of magenta.
3rd Photo is our restored and color corrected master.
ENTRAILS OF A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN is fucking insane. Ultra pinky violence and not for everyone. Really gnarly effects in but never saw someone die in a horror film by a woman sitting on a man’s face and suffocating him? Holy shit. Last 20 min is a fucking trip. Loved it.
Received these pictures today from the filmmaker. Fortunately, we will be able to save this over at Terror Vision. This film is essentially lost to time and has only had a release in Australia but we are going to fix that soon. Another film saved from extinction.
THE FEAR FOOTAGE is a riff on the V/H/S films but mainly just uses the storytelling component to show their horror shorts. That said, they all worked very well for me. There’s poor editing and lackluster VO but all the monsters, ghouls, and scary shit worked for me. Maybe I was
Always weird when you post something about restoration and the AI guys come out and say how great tech can be.
We don’t do that shit. We go frame by frame multiple times and do clean up, color, and restoration. It can be a grueling process.
Would you like to hear a Vinegar Syndrome podcast? This would be primarily a show about the history of the film, how materials/rights were obtained, interesting facts, and other stories. This wouldn’t be a podcast for reviewing titles - this would be a show based around VinSyn.
Even after 10 years this video still makes me incredibly uneasy. I’ve actually never watched it in its entirety. There’s something about the music and the vocals that really get to me. Anyways, sweet dreams.
I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER still slaps. A film that could have easily been PG13 but actually had some teeth and balls to create something meaner. Even with a low kill count - it remains a solid slasher flick with one of the best soundtracks ever and great cast.
A user (captainjoe) on the Blu-ray forums posted these screens off the new JAWS 3-D 4K transfer, which was "restored" using AI and now the people in the crowd have become actual MESSIAH OF EVIL ghouls.
Mr. Ricou Browning’s health is declining and his daughter is requesting fans to send him fan mail to cheer him up. He played The Creature (underwater) in the Lagoon, Revenge, Among Us and also directed MR. NO LEGS.

I don’t get that personal on here but my dad hasn’t been doing that well recently (he was 91). Sadly, today was my last day with him. He’s always been a trooper but free of pain now and that’s what’s important. I’m good, no need to reach out.
Finally installed another shelf and cleaned up a little bit and should last me a few months. Still have a few hundred tapes and VCDs that I’m working on transferring to digital. My digital library is a wildly different story.
A ton of people have wanted SPOOKIES for the longest time. So did I. Even though the task seemed very unlikely to complete; I went ahead to attempt it anyway. Well, after a lot of searching and deep digging, I did it. I found the rights to Spookies.

Here is a fun look at the process that we do these restoration/clean ups/color on our kung fu flicks. Again, very rough material we are dealing with and nothing will look outstanding but pretty happy with these results. Putting in a lot of hours on these.
Since MORTAL KOMBAT is in the news again, I’ll share a story that I found out while speaking to a couple members of the crew and the director a few years back from MORTAL KOMBAT: ANNIHILATION. We all know MK:A is a disaster. It’s rushed and the CGI is horrific. Here’s the thing:
It’s crazy that Dan Stevens has NORWAY on his list. We released this film a couple years ago on Blu-ray and it never had a release prior other than a non-English friendly DVD. Good chance he gave our disc a spin!
From executive producers of “Sound of Freedom” - watch the trailer for
#CityofDreams
, and see it only in theaters August 30.
Millions of children are victims of modern slavery. Inspired by true events, City of Dreams is the story of one who fought back.
I’ve seen ALIEN VS PREDATOR: REQUIEM around 3 times now since it’s release. I’m so close to making out what is going on in this film.
In all seriousness though these are my favorite shots in the movie.
This is still insane to me. Growing up and trying my hardest to find some of these when I was in my teens…now just right here in front of me. I hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoy putting them together.
SKINAMARINK will probably divide audiences pretty hard. It’s more of an experimental film with no narrative of a total nightmare. I’m sure people will find it scary but I mainly enjoyed the aesthetic of it. Kinda curious on how this will do with the general public.
Well, today I start my new adventure at
@VinegarSyndrome
. I accepted a full time position there and it’s quite a honor to be a part of such a great team. Great group of people and some of the nicest gents I’ve ever met. Lots of work to get done but I’m happy to do it.
Wanted to add one more thing about Corman that I see missing from a lot of posts is that he was incredibly supportive of women filmmakers. He hired a lot of women to work behind the camera - I can’t think of other producers or studios that championed that.
We ended up signing 4 lost films today. The journey on these are so much fun and trying to find the people that own them and what elements they have. 3 don’t have any IMDb or Letterboxd listings at all. 1 is an Australian film that has never made it out of its home country.
This dude is on the plane next to me and he’s watching that Angry Birds movie. No subtitles. No headphones. No AirPods. No sound AT ALL. He’s fucking laughing hysterically. Send help. I’m scared.
They are coming here. They are waiting at the edge of the city. They are peering around buildings at night and they're waiting…they waiting for you. And they'll take you one by one and no one will hear you scream…no one will hear you scream!
Agreed. I don’t think people know how dangerous digital can be for cinema. It’s a GREAT that we can stream but physical will last longer. Support us at , Severin, Vinegar Syndrome, Deaf Crocodile, Scream Factory, Kino Lorber, AGFA, and many many more.
Physical media is almost a Fahrenheit 451 (where people memorized entire books and thus became the book they loved) level of responsibility. If you own a great 4K HD, Blu-ray, DVD etc etc of a film or films you love... you are the custodian of those films for generations to
Hey
@Shudder
, can you disclose how many people viewed tonight? This is more than likely the most people EVER to get together and watch an SOV film. History was kinda made tonight.

This is the type of shit we are dealing with in the industry sometimes and it sucks. Even bad films need to be saved - its someone's livelihood with their blood, sweat, and tears to make these things. Now all that will exist are VHS and DVD if it even made the format jump.
We are working hard over at VS to prepare a kickass edition with some great and new extras for THRILLER on 4K UHD. We hope you enjoy it! Due out in May!
Successful day over at Terror Vision today: We acquired 13 martial arts titles from 1974-1986! Some of these films are a few I grew up on from buying VHS reprints back in the late 90s and early 00s. Most of them are pretty unseen but glad to finally give them a home.
If you didn’t listen to the livestream earlier this week - we broke some incredible news for us at Terror Vision. Very few boutique labels can say this but Terror Vision will be available in stores at Wal-Mart across the U.S. on March 12th.
Odd how some people are taking this a weird way. This isn’t about us or $$$. Sure, it’s badass for us but doing a deal like this gets so many eyes on indie films that would have never seen nor heard of them before. This is about reaching a completely different audience.

So we can clear the air of all the misinformation out there. Yes, Vinegar Syndrome is doing FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN. It will be later this year and yes, it will be in 3D.
ANTLERS was my jam. A bleak monster movie that handles the trauma in a way that is relatable instead of the trauma causing the monster. It does seem some stuff was missing here and there? Maybe a last minute edit by the studio? There’s a few beats in this that are incredibly
3rd film today for
@BeyondFest
was EVIL DEAD 2013. Every rewatch of this film it gets better and better. Watching it with the Beyond Fest crowd was amazing. Thank you again to
@BDisgusting
for such a unique and wonderful lineup.
Agreed. We are working on restoring films from the silent era and nabbing a lot of contemporary indie films that have only been streaming or stuck on DVD at Terror Vision. We are already seeing films disappear and it’s our mission to make sure that doesn’t happen.
