I made a simple and functional website. It has some Groucho Marx, my favourite video games, and information about my covid safe practice. Do get in touch. Stay as safe as possible. You are much appreciated. 😊
Instead of "Post covid," say "Post lockdowns." Instead of "After the pandemic, " say "after the lockdowns." That's what's changed. How many people do you know who are sick right now? How many got covid and haven't been "quite right" since? Words matter, people deserve
Health professionals, there is NO SUCH THING as 'covid anxiety'. There is HUGE distress from ZERO public health, mass gaslighting, and watching everyone people thought cared about their health abandon them. It is survival mode: if you still mask etc. you are carrying A LOT!
Guess what happens when you have a chronic illness? Nothing. Nothing happens because there is no cure. One simply tries to adapt and not get more ill. Don't tell chronically ill people (or anyone) trying to avoid covid it's an anxiety problems or 'all in your head.'
As a counsellor in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC, if I ask people, "What's the worst that can happen?" and THEY say, "Myself and my loved ones could easily get covid and lose everything." and then I RESPOND, "Awwww sounds like anxiety! Let's get you back out there champ!
If we reintroduced compulsory N95 masking amd testing for a few months while public spaces got their air up to scratch, we'd have a really good chance at a reduced illness winter. Way less flu, covid, colds, utter bliss! Why aren't the adults doing this for the kids!?
#MaskUp
If you are covid cautious and you hear 50 times a day to "Live your life!" the last thing you need is a healthcare professional joining the chorus. I offer covid concious therapy and I live as you do; masked, isolated and as safely as possible. I truly understand.
Why did you stop wearing masks and decide to trust the same governments you DO NOT trust about anything else? I'm genuinely curious why you forgot about covid and protecting the vulnerable? Why believe THIS particular piece of disinformation? We'd love to have you back. 😷😊😷
Science is about learning, survival is about adapting! Behold! My masks in 2020 vs 2024. Cloth mask, which was thought to work at the time (it only catches droplets) and an N95 respirator which filters viruses, allergens AND droplets. You live BY learning. I did, and you can too.
If you ask the parents of a child who take covid precautions why they do so, they will say "Nothing is more important than our child." If you ask the parents of a child who tested positive this morning and are still on going to Disneyland, they will say...
Honestly, what is the law on this?! If I Person A gets a diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer and begs their family not to bring home covid or other illness... and said family all refuse to mask and subsequently infect Person A, is there currently ANY legal recourse for Person A?
Today two of my favourite people are getting married. Because of the covid risk, I can't go to the reception and will be the sole masker. Just because I know better doesn't mean I'm not shattered. Raising a metaphorical glass of champagne to everyone being covid safe with me.
Basically what is happening now is that the vulnerable, the people who have no rights in pandemic times (if they ever did) - kids, babies, chronically ill, disabled folk are dependent on NON COVID safe people for their needs. It's eugenics, it's torture and we need legal recourse
Sounds like the best medicine is a Swift concert!" First of all, that's abelist and dismissive: the OPPOSITE of a counsellor's job. Secondly, it's dangerous and outdated. And thirdly, MOST IMPORTANTLY, I would NEVER call you "Champ." I'm Australian.
If you use up two months of sick leave every year or perform badly at work because you feel so ill, your workplace will not give you compassion. They'll not bring you soup or pain relief. They will fire you and move on to the next person. That person will then go on to
"Try respirator masks?"
"What!? No!, we did that already and they don't work!"
"You wore cloth ones, these ones actually stop viruses."
"The government said I don't have to!"
"But it's in your very best interests to wear a respirator mask."
"I'm not doing what the government says
The tricky thing about therapy now is it's JUSTIFIED, SURVIVALIST anxiety we are experiencing. You do not want to stop people's anxiety about a global pandemic completely (in my opinion) nor can you without lies and gaslighting. One can live a decent life albeit vastly altered
nothing is more important than our child." And I believe both. To bring these families together, we need government policy, corporate regulations, unions, masks in all indoor public spaces, vaccines, care for ME/CFS that is safe. We need free and accessible healthcare
You deserve covid informed care. I'm here and so are these folks: Book now info

The pandemic is a huge grief that you carry every day. If you need to drop that heaviness, that is a million kinds of fine! You are having a normal response to a bonkers situation. You have accepted something many people cannot and/or will not.
If you hassle chronically ill people (or any people) about not wanting to get sick in a global pandemic (or ever), do you also make fun of your friend who was in a nasty car accident for not driving? Do you only invite your friend whose loved one died by drowning to water-based
@CovidintheChart
May she sue and get all the care she needs... and a really nice boat so she can take pictures of it and send them as thank you cards to this hospital each Christmas. This is such gross negligence.
Are there any other covid concerned mental health professionals out there who would like to start a group of some kind? I feel the mental health world has been stood on its head and we need to talk more about this HUGE collective grief and trauma for our clients.
We need to make the family holiday safe so the covid concious family can access public places. Both sets of children need to know they have a right to health. They have a right to not risk a life in bed with constant pain. Humans are not good at long term thinking on mass and we
Imagine being labelled as mentally ill for not wanting to become disabled or die from a vascular illness. We can be a cruel species but so splendid at the same time. If you need support, there are covid safe professionals who want to help. If you think you are alone...
One of the worst parts of this pandemic is that there's no social reward for helping yourself and others. If you stop drinking, smoking, and gambling, for example, you will likely find a fair few friends, family, helpful groups like QUIT who will congratulate you in real life
I talked to someone last week who was SO covid safe, SO ANGRY that others weren't... in 2022. They got covid last year and haven't worn a mask in a very long time. This person bemoans all the deaths and talks about the crimes to the already vulnerable. This person is vulnerable
Covid is airborne. This is why transmission is so high. We are not wearing masks nor providing clean indoor air. This is the very simple truth. It's a virus in the air, not a new concept. We are being lied to in terms of severity and cases. I am so sorry. We deserve care.
It is incredible to me that people will spend hundreds a month on unproven wellness products such as celery juice and pearl powder in order to avoid AGING and DYING but will not wear a P2/N95 mask nor employ HEPA filters.
This is the pandemic stage where things get REALLY hard. It is like having lost a dearly beloved soulmate: at first everyone gathers round. For six months if you're lucky, people ask if you're okay. This is when we wore masks and raised money and stayed home.
will mostly take the easier path if told it's safe... even when
#CovidIsNotOver
and
#WearAMask
is pretty easy. The more we show
#empathy
hold our governments to account and be KIND to each other, the sooner this will be manageable. We all deserve a break.
#MaskUp
I'm DEEPLY concerned that our wonderful covid safe, caring,
#MaskUp
heroes have no one to talk to, no free time, no validation. You spend ALL your time protecting everyone but you NEED to look after your mental health.
When you take away public health safety measures for covid AND DON'T give vulnerable, disabled, chronically ill, anyone who doesn't want covid ANY ALTERNATIVES, you deny a significant section of the population human rights like safe healthcare.
I felt safer in the mask that didn't work. We have zero cases, and everyone had to test and mask. Now I have much better tools, but so few are using them. We need to make at least healthcare safe again.

To reframe this pandemic, what has it GIVEN you? I will never be grateful, it's horrific, BUT as we're in it, what are some things you wished you knew before? I'll start:
1) I now know masking works and will likely always wear one in a medical setting, busy shop etc.
My question to employers: will you give more paid sick leave? What costs more, protecting employees or constantly rehiring and leaving people in the dust while very ill? What if they sue? Just buy HEPA filters, provide N95 masks and let people work from home wherever possible.
Do people think chronically ill people can just 'catch up' and 'have brunch'!? The amount of planning to see people, eat, talk, sit, lie, watch TV etc. when people are sick and/or disabled would make healthy people exhausted. There's such a lack of empathy and imagination around
I saw an old friend this week (unplanned, lucky I was masked). They were going okay, great chat. Then they leaned in and said "I've had covid 3 times, it's not that bad. Just in case you're worried." This person CARES about me, is really smart but doesn't have the capacity
fall ill, require months of leave, get fired and so on. Homelessness is appalling now, imagine how bad it will be with a high fever and no way of getting proper shelter, food or medicine. Imagine you forced this delightful prospect on 1000s of others. If you don't
#MaskUp
@hutchleah
"Dreadfully boring"... I don't think this therapist needs a break to reflect on whether they should be doing this right now. You have to be interested in people.
Centrelink should be staffed by the people currently receiving payments. No one knows the system better, no one has more compassion for people needing this service.

If you swear an oath to do no harm and, as in my profession, set out to support people's mental health, HOW DARE YOU DANCE ABOUT pretending mass disability doesn't matter!? What right have you to wave masks and destroy lives? Stories speak louder than statistics so...
The saddest thing about 2023 was that the left abandoned

safety and stopped protecting us. Friends, family, politicians, still protesting, just not for

I'm so sorry. I cannot believe in YOUR home, at this time, people aren't wearing masks. I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for being a hero.
Hi. I’m Belinda, The Masked Counsellor. I live in the Australian bush and refuse to accept that infections and reinfections are inevitable - I will continue to do my utmost to break chains of transmission. What about you? The only guy I don't mask with is in the first photo.
Basically if companies, governments etc. say covid is very bad and there's a statistically significant chance you may end up dead or disabled, you could sue them for negligence. It'd be like restaurant health violations and food poisoning.
@jasmith_yorku
Hello there. I'm Belinda, a covid safe counsellor in Australia. I wear a mask and isolate for vulnerable family because I'm a decent human and this isn't over. Thank you all! 😊
you probably already have or are at this moment. You can't force policy change overnight, but you can advocate for

Now it's been 2 years, people assume you're okay, you seem okay even though you secretly cry every day and struggle with grief. This is when the mask mandates dropped and we, the vulnerable were left behind. No one asks after us, no one seems to care. It hurts.
My advice? Follow the covid safe people here. Watch Ted Lasso. You need to distract with joyful things in between all your hard work. Know this is a hard road, you will need help to get through. Join covid safe communities online. Meet people from said groups at a park.
@unimelbMDS
Oh my goodness when can I see one of you WONDERFUL and caring dentists??? Thank you for masking, I've not been able to get dental care for so long. You give me hope. Congratulations!!!
@neoliberal_dad
I'm an Australian and our success is in large part to do with our psychology. We are a fairly compliant people when it counts and we look after one another. We also have free healthcare. Freedom comes with responsibility and it's tragic to see that forgotten in the USA.
@girlinthetank
I cannot stress enough, do not attend mass gatherings unmasked. This one is a bit yikes even with a mask. It's very sad these rich, famous people don't fight back and hold these events safely.
@EpiEllie
I'm in Victoria, Australia and we are in a state of disaster stage 4 lockdown. It's working. Of course it's working. I don't see America getting out of this. Maybe in 5 years. No universal healthcare is its biggest problem.
@alyssaharad
I think a lot of organisations need a team of covid informed professionals to help them revamp a lor of things. Clean air, masking, testing and working form home a lot more. I think a lot of people need to cry A LOT and then Pur on that mask and realise helping is quite healing.
and about to enter their 80s. No questions, we got here because governments chose profits over people. It is backfiring. It will end terribly for most people not taking all precautions. I'm angry, I'm disgusted, I'm beyond exhausted by it all.
@nyendtimes
This hits very hard. These spouses are potential carriers of chronic illness, disability and death. My experience is the greatest fear is to be left in chronic pain forever, no cure. When you see someone in that condition, you're forever changed and you will

Here is a list of covid concious mental health professionals:
@1goodtern
Again, WHO can afford 3 to 6 weeks a year of not working? Retired people aside, retirement is over for my generation and those below. This is going to ruin so many more lives. 😪
"But I have to go to work and no one wears masks, no clean air, can't afford the good masks or the RAT tests etc." This is the real problem. Deliberate disempowerment. This is a huge group who, if they thought about the consequences of covid, well, they can't afford to...
Even professionals can gaslight and minimise grief. It is often in the western, white culture to move on, make money, do all the things. When we became a vaxxed and relaxed culture, capitalism got its claws out to an obscene degree. Deaths have increased, hospitals are overrun.
IF YOU HAVE A DISABLED AND/OR CHRONICALLY ILL CLIENT ASKING YOU TO WEAR A MASK, WEAR A DAMN MASK! I have chronic stuff, I mask all the time and I do it partly for my precious clients who remind me some people are worth fighting for.

have a safe and Merry Christmas. If you do one thing in 2023, commit to wearing P2 masks when around others. We can turn this around. Think of the vulnerable, rev up your empathy and imaginations. I wish us well.

from one's 2019 ideals. And for too many, whole lives have been lived in 2020 style due to illness, disability etc. Most people either don't care or forget to accommodate. If you have support in your covid safe life, my giddy aunt, hang onto that person!
@1goodtern
And now the covid concious community can't really do these things. So it's worse now if you are sick and vulnerable. If you know and don't want to risk your health shirt and VERY long term.

Sometimes, I wonder why I'm tired more than usual. Then I remember we're in the FIFTH year of a global pandemic with all the tools to make it better and no one in power willing to even do the bare minimum. DAY 5, the zombies should have eaten the government. Missed plot point.
literally. It's becoming very clear the money makers want your labour and your life, they do not care. The governments don't care. I care, covid safe groups are sprouting and they care too. We will survive grief and we will do our best to survive covid. If you can
Covid has created a burnout level I don't think we've seen before. When I was studying counselling, teaching, creative arts, NOTHING prepared me for being lied to, shamed and invalidated because I want to stay safe and help other people stay safe.
There is hope! Some of us wear P2 masks, we don't fly, we stay home when sick, we take covid seriously. We have immense privilege. One of the biggest stumbling blocks is trying to convince people to look after themselves.
I'm a mental health counsellor. It is BEYOND healthy to avoid contact with a virus that could take you out long-term and/or... forever.

Illnesses are coming for mostly the "get over it!" people. In grief it is tempting to ignore your feelings, drown them, bury them, anything but realise life has changed forever in some ways. We have to realise this to stop mass disability and death. It is not looking good but...
@JeremyWingert79
It's extremely traumatic, mostly because we don't how how much is left! Are we halfway through? At the start? Two things are true, masking with respirators and cleaning the air are our weapons and yet our governments choose not to use them. I'm beyond gutted by this lack of care.
