And far UV + air filtration in public spaces plus a nasal vaccine that stops transmission (which we could have soon if funded and pushed)? Well that starts to look something like real pandemic mitigation. There is no reason whatsoever to accept mass death and disability!

Also not about feelings: recognizing state abandonment, recognizing eugenicist policy, recognizing the denial of others, acknowledging the weekly death toll of Covid. None of this is about anxiety, though it may certainly cause one to feel huge waves of grief, rage, etc.

Proposal to rebrand masks as punk: Your government wants you to normalize mass death and disability. When you wear a mask you are telling that government to fuck right off while screwing with their surveillance measures at the same time. What could be more punk!

The thing I hate most about the "it's endemic, there's nothing we can do, get over your fear" rhetoric is that it thinks it's a tough-guy reality truth cake when it's really a nihilism brownie with a layer of death denial frosting and some eugenicist sprinkles.

This is what it's like for many people in Texas who were doing the right thing re: Covid. It was always hard, and people always resisted, but they at least could refer to national guidelines. All that went away in March.

Even if far UV + air filtration were only employed in, say, hospitals, prisons, schools and transportation centers and, oh yes, military bases, the mitigation effects would be enormous.

Harvard installed a similar system in some of their dining halls. It worked great. And then they took it out bc they were afraid the kids who weren’t protected would sue.
