It is honestly sad, the number of times I've come across devout Roman Catholics who are utterly unaware of the fact that Scripture tells us St Peter had a mother-in-law, and that Bishops and Presbyters (Priests) have rules clearly indicating they can be married.
Dispensationalism is an heresy, because it makes God an adulterer: He lives with His "mistress" (the Church) until His "real bride" (Israel) gets her act together.
This is why Dispensationalism is so utterly destructive, and is the actual "replacement theology".
By far the most common group of Christians I've seen online willing to spread lies (either knowing they're lies or not at all caring) is Roman Catholics.
One of the most painful things for me is the reality that, almost certainly, I'll never be married and have children.
But my Lord and Saviour never married, nor did He ever have children. So I can rest in the fact that He has gone through this loneliness and is with me still.
I have breakfast with Baptist pastors on Wednesday mornings. This morning I had mentioned incense as a regular part of our worship, and one of them asked me why we use incense. I simply pointed him to Malachi 1:11, which is a prophecy of how worship in the New Testament will be:
"We're not like YOUR GRANDMA'S CHUR--"
I want it like my grandma's church. I'm tired of being coddled/entertained. I'm a sinner. I need to worship God, receive Absolution, and receive Christ through Word/Sacrament.
Give me my grandma's church, not a pop concert with a TED Talk.
Whatever you think about St Thomas Aquinas (and of course, I disagree with him on his Papism), he constantly points to Scripture as primary in his arguments.
When I was first looking into the various traditions of Christianity, Papism was quickly taken off the table for these two reasons:
1) Their arguments did not coincide with the reality of history (To be deep in history is to cease to be Papist.).
1/2
2) Their arguments often relied upon misrepresentations of Protestantism, especially by pretending Protestants are all a bunch of Bapticostals twerking for Jesus in concert venues on Sundays.
So online Papists, a request: please stop misrepresenting others.
Good news: I'm out of the hospital. I have to deal with some discomfort for the next week or two, but by then I should be getting more information. It looks like they got out all of the tumor in the bladder, but I might have more in a kidney. They'll be checking for that next.
One of the most frustrating things about dialogue between Romanists and Protestants is that the Romanist will continually cite heretics like John MacArthur as authoritative representatives of Protestantism...and we can't even cite the literal "Vicar of Christ" to represent them.

There is a clear pattern here, and the popesplainers do not wish to see it.
"I cannot submit to the Pope. And I was not born a Greek or Slavic Christian. I was born in this English-speaking world, where God's merciful providence has preserved the form and substance of the Catholic Church, and freed it from papal usurpation."--On Being an Anglican, Farrar
To everyone out there:
1) Christ is King.
2) Jew or Gentile, you are lost without Christ.
3) There is no eschatological significance to the modern State of Israel.
4) Stop making up crap about secret cabals of Jews pulling the strings while drinking the blood of Christians.
I've been on this kick of listening to arguments for Dispensationalism from theologians on YouTube. The arguments are truly bad; they remind me of arguments for Mormonism and atheism.
My brother periodically sends me "Coming Home" interviews about former Anglicans becoming Roman. It's always the same: a poorly-catechized man is mistreated by a Bishop, takes money from Anglicans, and becomes Roman.
These don't really tempt me to become Roman for some reason.
I try not to be mean about it, and no disrespect intended towards my Baptist brothers in Christ, but I greatly, greatly hate Baptists' theology of Baptism.
I love that I can make an observation that many online Roman Catholics are toxic and dishonest, and then get a bunch of toxic online Roman Catholics responding dishonestly.
"Guys, the Chosen adds to the narrative of Scripture. It's idolatrous."
Brad, you're a Dispensationalist Baptist who holds to TULIP and thinks caring about the environment in any capacity is paganism; don't start with that "adding to the Bible" nonsense.
“Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to
@redeemed_zoomer
This has been my continual issue with Roman apologetics. This is how it works:
1) Point to some Bapticostal.
2) Pretend cringe Bapticostal practices are Confessional expressions of Protestantism.
3) Rinse and repeat.
I'm almost convinced James White loves Muslims and hates most Christians who aren't Calvinists. Listen to how he talks about Muslims: it's almost always in glowing terms/admiration. Compare that to him talking about Papists, Arminians, etc. It's almost always incredibly hateful.
I'm still upset that my philosophy major literally had a class called, "Ancient and Medieval Philosophy", yet we never studied a SINGLE Christian philosophy, or literally anyone teaching since the Advent of Christ in that class. The latest we went to was Aristotle.

I would take Candace Owens' "crusade" against porn and fornication more seriously if she actually condemned the actions of Kanye West and Andrew Tate. Instead, she promotes and defends them.
A lot of people come to me, both online and in real life, who are former Roman Catholics. So often, they will tell me about various abuses that led them away from Rome. The latest one today: a priest literally demanded a "donation" of $150 for Baptism. That's Simony.
I'm broken. I was listening to a podcast this morning and the topic of marriage was brought up. I had to turn it off. I'm reading a book to see if I can recommend it to my parish; the topic of marriage is brought up, and I'm on the verge of tears. Lord help me.
I then pointed out that the only perfect example of worship is given in Revelation: the worship done in heaven. There, we also find incense.
There are other reasons to use incense, but these are the two biggest reasons for me.
My question:
"For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the Lord of hosts."
I had to make decisions this past week that greatly saddened me. I've had various tragedies and betrayals in ministry. I make far, far less than I would in my first career path. Yet I cannot imagine being anything other than a priest in the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
Being a pastor means:
1. You get very little pay
2. You are always on call
3. You continually see people you've spent the most time/energy with leave
4. You often work 80 hour weeks
5. Everyone has their eyes on you and your family constantly
6. Most of the time you are not
It is interesting, seeing Roman Catholics constantly complain about the pope, then laugh at the mere thought that maybe handing the pope the power to dogmatically declare which sock you put on first in the morning (but he's not a tyrant!) was a mistake.
I think we need a Traditional Anglican Men's Conference.
If anyone is interested in such a thing, and has experience setting up conferences, please let me know.
The cognitive dissonance of declaring monarchy to be inherently evil while at the same time praising Jesus as "King of kings" is simply astounding to me.
The number one reason liturgical worship is better than spontaneous worship is this: no matter what my feelings are, the worship in the Book of Common Prayer is the same. If my worship is spontaneous, then of necessity it is based upon my own (or the worship leaders') feelings.
It's funny how I went full-circle(ish). I grew up KJVO, then was introduced to textual criticism by James White. That got me out of KJVOism, and on a journey that led me to Anglicanism.
Now I'm an "ecclesial text" guy; not exactly KJVO, but similar enough.
The TULIP-ish Bapticostals are so desperate to be thought of as intelligent that they will take any issue and try to make it about how smart they (allegedly) are.
So many are saying God intervened and saved former President Trump's life. I get the sentiment, but I do not believe God intervened here - or ever, for that matter. Let me explain....
To say that God intervenes is to imply that most of the time God is up in Heaven twirling His
One of the things of which I've been convicted in the past few years is casually stating I would pray for someone or that I pray they are doing well. When we tell people we will pray for them, we should mean it.
@gavinortlund
I always find it interesting that the same people who claim you are liberal for holding to a "local Flood" view will then immediately turn around and make the Scripture's Words on Baptism and the Eucharist merely symbolic.
It is really sad, the number of people who think that Nick Fuentes is intelligent, let alone wise. There also seems to be a significant correlation between spending all day on social media and being a "Groyper".
Please, for the sake of your sanity, touch grass.
2/2 ...the cursory glances in the general direction of Schaff's works done decades ago in seminary, with the slightest hint of Chick Tract and JMac mixed in.
Don't use Dr White's work for arguments against Rome.
When you keep referring to those in the Papal Communion as "Catholic" and yourself as "not Catholic", one of two things will happen: 1) You'll oppose the historic consensus of the Church and her unity, or 2) You'll believe the lie that Rome is the fullness of the Faith.
Every now and then I listen to Dr James White's The Dividing Line, just to see what's going on in Reformedish Pseudo-Presup Bapticostalism. The incredibly long and pointless tangents are annoying; worse yet are the misrepresentations of other traditions based upon... 1/2
Teach young boys to be men. Don't just give them chicken nuggets: give them dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets. Teach them that not even dinosaurs can beat the apex predators known as man.
Raise your young men to eat dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets, not vegan soy fake nuggets.
One of the most recent families to join my parish comes from a Roman Catholic background (They left Rome because of fiducia supplicans and other issues.). The matriarch of the family gave me these. :)
@Catholicizm1
We aren't the ones "blessing" sodomite "couples" (but not their "unions"!). We've excommunicated those who do so.
Have y'all excommunicated Papa Frankie yet?
It's interesting how antisemites claiming to be Christian tend to show no care whatsoever for the souls of Jews. I desire any and all Jews (same with Gentiles) who are not Christian to become Christian. The average antisemite tends to not care.
Halloween is a Christian holiday. It is "All Hallows' (Saints') Eve", the evening before we thank God for all of the Saints who've preceded us (Christian Holy Days, following the pattern in Genesis 1, begin the evening before the day: Nov 1 being the day, in this case).
Adding this to my homily after hearing it from Dr
@gavinortlund
: "The Resurrection of Christ..is not just proof of the Gospel; it’s part of the Gospel. It doesn’t just confirm our salvation; it contributes to our salvation."
Dr James White continues his descent into anti-historical Restorationism. He literally argues "just me and my Bible" in this, literally rejecting Creeds and Confessions. My, how far he has fallen.
@HwsEleutheroi
Two years ago the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
Because of Donald Trump, more than 1 in 3 American women of reproductive age live in a state with a Trump Abortion Ban.
Apparently not only do we have kangaroos in the US now; they have their own courts, too.
Congratulations, leftists: you've made me supportive of Trump.
@Catholic_Jess
It is not salvation by Faith Alone, it is Justification by Faith Alone. Also, the Reformers defined Faith as necessarily active, not a mere intellectual ascent.
