CGP Grey struck a reaction video by Vlogging Through History. Pretty sure it was fair use, and Vlogging Through History always does a great job in adding onto the videos that he's reacting to, and providing links to those videos. Not great to see.
Not to hate on this particular Youtuber, but why is Youtube making content on their website called "NAKED" with a naked woman in the thumbnail, but it won't even monetize educational content for being "too controversial."
It's always funny when a guy who clearly isn't Cuban is offended on behalf of Cubans... and then an actual Cuban tells me he likes our Cuban perspective video.
When we make a video on North Korea's military, I wonder how people will respond on Twitter🤔
(tweet being referenced is from another post criticizing all historical YouTubers as being nazis because they aren't radicalized communists)
Ah yes, Comrade Natalie defending the North Korean regime against US aggression and propaganda! Natalie is very upset that we showed Mao in some red fog, very offensive to our great leader! Our comrade Mao did not starve and murder millions! We must worship our leader!
Vlogging Through History posted an update video on the matter with CGP Grey: Essentially, instead of CGP simply claiming the revenue like most record labels do of content with features their music, CGP Grey took the "nuclear option" (1/2)
If I reupload the SAME video it has monetization... there's absolutely no consistency here. It's like Youtube wants to play a game where if I get a certain number of views they demonetize it...

Marshal Mud and General Winter always take credit for Germany's defeat... but what about the often forgotten Lieutenant Logistics? Did all the work (or lack thereof in Germany's case) but gets none of the credit!
I'm not sure how they're going to suddenly just change their game to allow two campaigns as either side after the game has already been seemingly designed. The spelling errors in this post like "we updated the describtions" don't help my confidence in this game but time will tell
and issued formal copyright strikes on VTH's channel. In order to enforce these strikes, CGP would actually need to sue VTH for copyright infringement, which shows how serious this matter is. Doing a strike on someone's channel is the most extreme measure you can take (2/2).
@LunaOi_VN
Considering you call everyone you disagree with Fascists, I can see why you attract a lot of hate. And tweets like the one I attached attract hordes of your "comrades" spamming my videos with hate comments calling me a Nazi. You started this entire thing. You reap what you sow.
Youtube thinks a subject that can be taught to an 11-year-old can't be talked about to grown adults on their platform. By demonetizing history, you're encouraging content creators to pretend it never happened. History is full of ugly things and we can't forget about the past. 2/2
Video is out and monetized (after several reuploads and title changes...) We had to call the video "Lightning Strikes" instead of Blitzkrieg, because that word apparently isn't allowed in YouTube titles.

Yeah getting rich is easy making history educational videos. Not business, real estate, accounting, law. The real money is in teaching!
Victoria 3 recently announced that they're doing away with their old tactical army system and going for something more strategic, players won't be controlling individual units anymore. I just hope it doesn't become just the HOI4 air battle system... What do you guys think?
If Biden is acting like he has dementia and can barely remember his own name, and Sanders only really resonates with younger people who don't even vote and will only scare Republicans into a huge turnout for Trump, do you think the election is over before it's even started?
@AsherGrisanti
CGP's grey video was
#10
on trending with millions of views but he throws a fit if a small creator ends up getting some views off of his work by reacting and providing actual good commentary.
Definitely the nail in the coffin for ancient history videos: lost us subscribers in covering this, performing the worst of all recent videos in the last couple of months, and most expensive to make with the least return. Unfortunate!
What do you think will be considered the most impactful historical event of the 21st century so far? The US invasions in the middle east, the Ukraine war, COVID, etc... what will be seen as a defining historical event of this century years from now?
I don't care what your political stance is on all of this, I'm just amused at how poorly worded this entire thing is. I love this sentence in particular "Robert E. Lee is considered by many Generals to be the greatest strategist of them all."
YouTube says educational content about the Nazis doesn't violate community guidelines, yet time and time again history YouTubers have their videos demonetized, age-restricted, or taken down for even showing the swastika.
The death of long-form content. "YouTube’s ‘number one’ priority is Shorts—its TikTok rival—as new CEO Neal Mohan scrambles to reverse declining ad revenue."
Youtube manually reviewed my newest video isn't advertiser-friendly, after telling me it was advertiser-friendly last night. With this happening two times in a row, effectively destroying over a month worth of income I'm taking a break from making videos.
My website will have an interactive map drawn for every time period in history. Users will be able to click any region in the world and be brought to a video about it during that time :)
Can we try to push for an official response from YouTube asking if symbols such as the swastika, and hammer & sickle, featured on flags in a historical context can be included in *monetized* educational content?

CGP is the same guy who won't let people comment on his videos unless they financially support him on Patreon. He also complains if Redditors get more upvotes than he does about his content, so weirdly petty.
@AltHistoryHub
Is it monetized and un age restricted. It's odd because Russia is topical, and the thumbnail is pretty intriguing. It's curious why it's not performing well
YouTube, you can't monetize my video and then instantly demonetize it only when it's made public. The system isn't broken because demonetization exists, it's broken because there is ZERO communication on how any of it works.
On this day, Jan 18th in 1871, King Wilhelm I of Prussia was proclaimed German Emperor in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles, marking the founding of the German Empire.
To the Russians who were upset about our portrayal of Russia in our game, we've redrawn the bear to look much less insulting... The sketch on the right shows the new design. Let us know what you think about the change.
Today, I announced that I will no longer be making YouTube my primary focus. YouTube has been doing better with demonetization, but my issue is that we've put all our eggs in one basket. I'm hoping our new platform gives us breathing room and lets us launch create larger projects
