Easter Mass in this Manhattan Church was standing room only, and precious little of that. I’ve been coming to this Church for 25 years…never seen attendance higher. Don’t buy the woke hype. People are hungry for faith.

Absolutely the future of the Church. The Pope can push us back into garages and hotel ballrooms but in about 50 years, the TLM will be the most popular form of Mass and will produce the greatest number of vocations. Reform by attrition.

Sometimes they say the darker stuff they're thinking out loud. The TLM is not the problem. The problem is that it attracts the young, it promotes Catholic faith and practice, and it's going to ruin their plans to create NEW CHURCH if they don't stop it.

Call it what you want, Tom, but TLM parishes double every 3 years and produce 7x the priests per capita. If things don't change, there will come a day (maybe about 2050?) when most Catholics attend the TLM.

It's a self-selecting group. Each young family who drives 40 minutes to attend TLM is leaving an empty pew at the local Catholic parish five minutes away. The "rising trad generation" is an illusion.

No Pope can just fire a Bishop. There are 4 ways a Bishop can lose his office: death, transfer, resignation, or criminal penalty. But as we saw with Bishop Torres in Puerto Rico, the Pope doesn't seem bothered about the restrictions of canon law:

This is correct. The Pope us not abusing his authority when he silences one of his critics who speaks the truth. The Pope hasn't that authority. Rather he is using/abusing the power of the office...and critically undermining his authority.

@FaithWithMase I did. Converted on my last day at Princeton Theological Seminary on my way to becoming a Presbyterian pastor. There is no "man-made system" as man-made as Calvinism, Lutheranism, Zwingliism. The man is right there in the name.

It seems to be a general rule -- let's call it the "Ratzinger Ratio" (since he would agree) -- that the greater the reverence/beauty/traditionalism of a Mass, the greater the fidelity of the parish to the teachings of the Church...and...the greater the attendance.

Mass was full at St. Roch, Vienna’s Oratorian parish, this morning. Rates of Sunday Mass attendance are higher in Austria than neighboring Germany (as high as 17% of Catholics pre-COVID), but are likewise in sharp decline.

St Vincent Ferrer was one of the most gifted preachers in history. His missions converted over 25k Jews and 15k Muslims. He preached to crowds of 50k and 10k penitents followed him from town to town. He only preached on 5 things: sin, death, judgment, hell, heaven. Not dignity.

This is rubbish. Most bishops ignored both the Synod and TC (ours did) and got no censure. So basically, #Strickland was sacked by not schmoozing enough.

JUST IN— @BishStrickland tells @RaymondArroyo the US Nuncio cited a lack of “fraternity” with brother bishops, lack of support for the #Synod , & failure to implement #TraditionisCustodes as basis for his removal. Strickland said “he didn't mention a single administrative concern.”

Best approach to the TLM v NO debate is to let both flourish side by side and may the best Mass win the hearts of the faithful. Deal with schismatic attitudes per capita, not per liturgia, for there are many in de facto schism who never set foot in a TLM.

No one is looking to depose the Pope (for no one can). No one is judging the Pope (for no one can). But there are many who have evaluated his teachings, writings, and off the cuff statements and found them deficient, divisive, disorienting and, in the end, disheartening.
