Shetland Birding Day Five: Bird of Day included a mega WHITE’S THRUSH found by @BirderGaz on the Isle of Bressay. Also Red Grouse, Magpie (Shetland mega) and Hawfinch on the island. Highlights on mainland included NORTHERN TREECREEPER and RED-BREASTED FLYCATCHER. #peakybirders

The Mammal Society estimate that cats in the UK catch up to 275 million prey items a year, of which 27 million are birds. Cats are an environmental disaster. Irresponsible owners should be punished!

This male corncrake made it all the way back from it's wintering grounds in Africa, to be caught and killed by a cat here on North Uist. During the breeding season, please keep your cat indoors at night and fit its collar with a bell.
