Sometimes in life you have to turn down things if harmful to a greater cause. In Scotland, there is a national institution that has a history of harm to Trans and Non-binary people. Today it released its poetic accolades for last year. 1/4

This is crazy to me. I know metrics are so changeable and that on G**dreads you can see your rating drop at a soul crushing rate. But for a novel that centres queer love, a brown Mexican American young man, and told in such an unusual narrative style, the reception is 🤯💕🐦‍⬛🏳️‍🌈

The police are not our protectors. They are instigators of state violence. In Scotland, they choose when to escalate and we’ve seen in recent months how quickly they come down on protestors but leave drunken revellers be. That should tell you all you need to know.

While the SoA motion to call for a ceasefire and condemn the genocide in Gaza has not passed I will not lose hope. Destroying hope is the tool of the oppressor. Instead, I find light in all the organisers around the world who are not backing down and who are using their voices.
