This is practice-changing! Metformin 500mg once daily safe to use in #CKD eGFR 15-29. Lactic acidosis concern was likely overblown all along. Beware in pts with other acute issues (MI, CHF, sepsis etc).

SU or insulin use among elderly is key prognostic factor for hospitalization for severe #hypo and mortality - more so than low A1c levels alone. Supports preferentially using non-hypo causing drugs. ⁦ @kamleshkhunti ⁩ ⁦ @profmjdavies ⁩

AMAZING news for people with type 2 #diabetes and #KidneyDisease (eGFR 30-90, High urine ACR). CREDENCE with #canagliflozin stopped early due to efficacy. Primary endpoint was time to ESRD, doubling creatinine and renal or CV death. Amazing news!!

Late breaking abstract in pregnancy. Fasting glucose based screening for #GDM (followed by OGTT if needed) had similar perinatal outcomes compared to usual OGTT screening. 80% less OGTTs performed in the fasting glucose based screening group. #Ada2023 poster 179-LB
